En el primer grupo, el tópico más relevante en cuanto a cantidad de menciones dentro de los hoteles fue la biodiversidad, la cual abarca temas como muerte de arrecifes de coral, arribazón de sargazo, incendios forestales en zonas aledañas, incidentes negativos con fauna silvestre, plagas de insectos y malos olores. Sin embargo, los aspectos sociales como salud y seguridad en el trabajo, salud y seguridad a los clientes, y comunidades locales, en conjunto representan los aspectos de mayor impacto identificados por los grupos de interés que fueron consultados en este estudio, tanto por el impacto de estos temas como por la importancia asignada.

En el segundo grupo, dentro del aspecto ambiental con mayor mención e importancia, se encuentra efluentes y residuos, el cual contempla aspectos como vertimiento de aguas contaminadas, contaminación por mal manejo de residuos sólidos, derrames de químicos y contaminación por mala disposición de residuos peligrosos o de manejo especial. También encontramos en este grupo impactos económicos indirectos entre los cuales destacaron temas como baja temporada, corte suministro de combustible, falla eléctrica y hundimientos del terreno.

Finalmente, en el tercer grupo, encontramos los impactos que los grupos de interés identificaron como de menor riesgo, sin embargo, en este grupo se identificó una mayor cantidad de riesgos, tales como desempeño socioeconómico, el cual es uno de los que tienen una menor cantidad de menciones pero que presenta cierto grado de importancia. En cuanto al eje social, encontramos los rubros de formación y enseñanza, cumplimiento socioeconómico y empleo, donde este último, tiene menos menciones que los dos anteriores.

Como nota adicional, perteneciente al eje ambiental, los grupos de interés identificaron con menor riesgo aspectos como: cumplimiento ambiental, energía y agua. Consideramos que, debido a la estrategia de sustentabilidad de la empresa, los colaboradores pueden considerar que, aunque estos temas son de importancia y representan un impacto, son atendidos por la empresa de manera exhaustiva, al contar con políticas, programas y prácticas sistematizados de medida y control.

En la siguiente figura se presentan los temas materiales más relevantes para Karisma Hotels & Resorts, y para cada uno de ellos, se detalla la sección del presente informe en donde se encuentra mencionado.

Environmental · Biodiversity · Effluents and waste · Water · Energy · Environmental compliance In the first group, the most relevant topic in terms of number of mentions within hotels was biodiversity, which covers topics such as death of coral reefs, sargassum upwelling, forest fires in nearby areas, negative incidents with wildlife, insect pests and bad odors. However, social aspects such as health and safety at work, health and safety for customers and local communities, taken together represent the aspects of greatest impact identified by the stakeholders who were consulted in this study, both due to the impact of these topics as per the assigned importance.

In the second group, within the environmental aspect and with the greatest mention and importance, there are effluents and waste, which includes aspects such as dumping of contaminated water, pollution due to mismanagement of solid waste, chemical spills, and pollution due to improper disposal of waste hazardous or special management waste. We also found indirect economic impacts in this group, among which are such as low season, fuel supply cut, electrical failure and land subsidence.

Finally, in the third group, we found the impacts that the interest groups identified as having less risk, however, in this group a greater number of risks were identified, such as socioeconomic performance, which is one of those with fewer mentions but with a certain degree of importance. Regarding the social axis, we find the areas of training and education, socioeconomic compliance, and employment, where the latter has fewer mentions than the previous two.

As an additional note, pertaining to the environmental axis, the interest groups identified aspects such as: environmental compliance, energy, and water with less risk. We consider that, due to the company’s sustainability strategy, collaborators may consider that, although these issues are important and represent an impact, they are comprehensively addressed by the company, as they have systematized policies, programs and practices for measurement and control.
