Proposal Project Overview Women illustrators in small format" Through these illustrations each artist answer in a personal way to the questions: What is the female universe? What makes me a woman? What represents me as such? Each artist has their own way of expressing it, whether through color, forms, denunciation, comedy, everyday life and even eroticism. On this occasion, we invited Russian illustrators to create a dialogue on the same subject, but from such extreme territories: Latin America-Russia. COCO I was born in, Argentina, in 1993 I study Architecture and Urbanism at the University of Mendoza. In 2018 I moved to Copenhagen, Denmark in order to travel, improve my studies and personal projects and expand my knowledge. I am currently living in Berlin.

THAIS CURVELO Based in Berlin, Thais Curvelo is an interdisciplinary artist who bases her work on memories, traumas and sexuality, from the perspective of someone who grew up on the peripheral area of SĂŁo Paulo. In her work as an illustrator, Thais proposes transversal ways of looking at the feminine, with symbols like beasts and knives representing strength, tropical plants and fire as a way to evoke her ancestry, coming from the recognition of the visceral importance of dealing with colonial questions in cross with the questions of femininity.

VIVIAN PANTOJA My name is Vivian Pantoja Ortega, I am Colombian, I studied the Visual Arts career, I've been working in different editorial projects and art exhibitions nationally and internationally, illustrating stories, articles and texts in general for magazines and other print media, I like to talk about women and their environment in my work as an autobiographical reference, interpreting the world, my dreams, thoughts and the connection I have with others, to materialize it in my illustrations, I use the technique of drawing, analogue and digital collage 10 years ago, always making the mixture of the 3 techniques to get the results I want in my works, I think it's good to build my own worlds from those that are already established and through the cuts allow viewers to navigate in them.

CRISVIVES BROZ Cristina ist eine Illustratorin und Grafikdesignerin aus Barcelona mit Sitz in Berlin. Seine Arbeit würde als eine Art feministische, surrealistische und figurative Kunst definiert. In seinen Kunstwerken möchte Sie den Körper der Frau erfassen / trans / queer / intersexuell usw. in verschiedenen Arten von Techniken, Materialien und Beschichtungen, die die Schönheit dieser darstellen und die verschiedenen Gefühle und Empfindungen vermitteln, die man im Laufe seines Lebens haben kann. Seine Kunstwerke und Projekte, wie feministische Fanzines, Illustrationen und Designs, versuchen zu vermitteln, was wir über Stereotypen des "nicht standardmäßigen Körpers" empfinden, durch Gemälde, Texte und Zeichnungen, die in der Regel eine doppelte Bedeutung haben und Härte ausdrücken gleichzeitig schönkeit.

MANUELA GARCÍA ALDANA In Manuela García Aldana´s work, listening is the begining. She is a visual artist from Bogotá, Colombia, who lives in Berlin since five years. What moves her most are stories from people. Existentialist questions remark details from the everyday life. Storytelling of different cultures, speeches and situations… The need to make them visible is one of the aspects of her work. These stories are usually told through videos, installations, objects and actions. The public space has an important role where some of them happen or are presented. Apart from this, since her life as a migrant in Berlin, Manuela has explored more intimate aspects of her personal processes by drawing. The theme and question for home has become a central point of her work.

LAURA CARVALHO Laura Carvalho in her search for different ways of living/being has worked in programs of public health promotion with people suffering from mental illness and with people who are facing the abuse of psychoactive substances in the context of vulnerability. Was inside these apparently hostile environments, where Carvalho found a fruitful place for the production. Just like the precision of the needle, her main instrument of work, which sews and redefines methods, creating a symbolic weaving of new lines of thoughts.

ANTONIA GRUNEFELD I was born in Santiago de Chile. I studied design and also aesthetics, a branch of philosophy. The illustration has always been part of my life, since I was very small I have always drawn and I go with my pencils and notebooks everywhere. The woman is the central figure of my works, since the feminine and all her universe are fundamental in my life since my environment and upbringing are totally linked to this. The woman is, therefore, the inspiring muse in my creations and I always look for them to represent strength and expression.

SANDRA FIZ After a year studying at the ESDIP, I started the Fine Arts career at UCM, Madrid, which I combined as a freelance working for record labels and design studios. In the year 2015 I obtained a scholarship to study a Master of Illustration in the IED. My work has been selected in contests such as Valladolid Illustrated, Apila First Impression or the National Contest of Posters for Animation to the Reading. My work has been exhibited in Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, Germany, Russia and in China, where I´ve been for 2 months as an artist in residency during september and october of 2016, also offering talks and workshops for youngs and children. I´ve been a member of the jury of the International Biennal of Illustration Solidaria Ajudaris in the Young Illustrator Award in Portugal. I collaborate with different publications such as Principia Magazine or Ecologista.

GLORIA Gloria was born as a result of back and forth between Berlin and Montevideo. It arises moved by the desire to be well, to feel accompanied, sustained. With Gloria I am accompanied by an intangible feminine universe. A universe that I think first and then I believe in watercolors or acrylics (no matter where I am, or who I am with). Gloria is a woman, who, in turn, are all women. A search for the Sorority in female protagonists, with traits that surround me, with familiar silhouettes, with environments that remind me of places that are far away, with images that inspire photographs of friends. Gloria is being at home. In the house where the feminine lives, the women who hold hands, who embrace and who speak with their eyes. SAVAS Brazilian artist Isabela Savas entered the world of the arts at the age of 28, when she discovered her talent making portraits of her friends for fun. She then began to develop her technique in watercolor, focusing mainly on portraits. The artist continues to portrait the women who inspire her, both in her personal life and in the world, also creating characters of her imagination.

TRES MARĂ?AS I'm a Chilean graphic designer. I began to develop the illustration as self-taught from a young age. I studied a year of Bachelor of Arts and then design, careers that gave me many tools and knowledge in drawing. In 2016 I began to show my work in small group exhibitions and illustration markets, which I have continued to do until today. Most of my drawings are focus on woman, in solitary moments of introspection, full of energy that emanates around her.

VALENTINA FIGUEROA O. alentina was born and raised in the central coast town of La Guaira in Venezuela. She graduated with a BA in Graphic Design in the Caracas' Design Institute in 2012 and in January 2014 she left her country and moved to Berlin to study not knowing it would be the last time she would see everything she was familiar with. Having grown up in a South American country under constant sociopolitical turmoil, being an activist back home from the early age of 14 and experiencing the downfall of her country from abroad as an adult, Valentina has translated the pain and sense of loss along with her experiences of personal self-discovery in a society that demands more than what most of the times gives back in work that reflects her explorations and experiences in a European society linking it with her deep appreciation for her cultural, ancestral and indigenous heritage, decolonizing her femininity and existence, work that shows acceptance of her humanity, vulnerability and sexual liberation topics often stigmatised in many Latin American societies.

ALENA GOLUBEVA Alena Golubeva, a young but well-known artist in Petrozavodsk (NorthWest Russia): illustrator, designer, member of the Union of Young Artists of Russia, member of the Union of Designers of Russia, participant in Russian and international exhibitions. In the 2000’s Alena was also known as the rap artist "Miss Danger". Her artworks are from that special territory that emerged in recent decades at the intersection of art and design. Born on September 6, 1990 in Kandalaksha (Murmansk region). Education: International Slavic Institute (2007-2013), graphic design. She is interested in photo and illustration and also comics drawing. She works as a designer in the Musical Theater of Karelia. Anna works as a media artist: she created scenography for G. Firtich's Victory Over the Sun opera at the Petrozavodsk Conservatory. Anna Danilova is a participant of Russian and International art residences, projects and exhibitions. About artworks: When I couldn’t express the content of my internal world on words, I combined photographs and graphics of the same period of time. Born in 1991. She is an engineer by first education, however, she changed her specialty and is now engaged in research in the field of neurology and physiology. About artworks: HER series is a reflection on the woman as a unit (measure) of time. The idea of the series came to me when I lived with my grandmother. It seemed to me curious that two women lived together at the same time, but were separated by years and we are on different life periods (cycles).
