Gunnuhver is a collective name for an impressive and colourful geothermal field of various mud pools and fumaroles in the southwest part of Reykjanes Peninsula about 15km from Grindavík.

When exploring the Reykjanes ­peninsula Krýsuvík thermal area and the curious lake Kleifarvatn with their striking landscapes’ should not be missed.

City tour to Reykjavík capital of Iceland takes about 40 minutes each way. For those who are not driving, public transportation is available.

Gullfoss (Golden Waterfalls) and ­Geysir (hot springs area) are very popular along with Þingvellir National Park at Lake Þingvallavatn, a UNESCO ­Cultural ­Heritage Site. All these sites can be visited in one day tour from Grindavík village.

A new hotel close to Keflavík International Airport

Hotel Lava is a new hotel in Grindavík village about 20 km from the Keflavik International Airport. The hotel will open on June 1st 2015.

Within a 3 minutes’ walk from the hotel you will find a supermarket, bank, outdoor thermal swimming pool, church, cafes, restaurants, gasoline station and a busy fishing harbour. A nice 18 hole golf course is also to be found in only 3 km distance from G ­ rindavík.
