MODULARITY
Modularity of the structure allows simple and contunous assembly of repetitive units called modules. Besides reduction in cost modularity offers variety of design. Forestarium modules are based on 2m x 4m cubiclal wooden frames. Modules are connected by 1m long joinment beams (indicated by yellow). The beams create angles between modules and allow the structure to be based on a form of arch.

ELEMENTS
Each module consists of: • • • • •
structural beams (columns, 2m and 4m joists, rafters) substructure beams (floor beams, studs, outriggers) panels ( walls, floor and roof -different types in different room) screw piles for foundation wire bracing ( in every second module for the whole structure)

TRANSPORTATION
One module elements cover approx. 2,6m3 (Excluding side surfaces) One room that consist of 7 modules covers approx. 18,3m3 of material. This means that whole pavilion (7 modules) can be transpotred on on truck with a trunk dimention 4,2m x 2m and can be constructed directly on a site. Depending on the land requirements modules can be also prefabricated offsite and transported on the same truck directly on the site.

DECK

DESIGN
The deck is a connection pathway between rooms. As a part of Forestarium design the deck is a locally made part of the concept. This means that when the structure is moved to another location only rooms are dismantled and transported, when the deck stays on the site. Then the process is repeated on the another site. The modular rooms are assembled and a new deck is made out of local materials. After 8 years rooms are removed an the deck stays on a site. Remaining decks leaves the memory of once existing Forestarium structure.
23
24
STRUCTURE
The organic shape of the deck leads people from one room to another. Eventhough the shape meanders in, out within rooms, the deck is completely independed structure. There are no common joinments between deck and rooms in order to allow the rooms to be removed without damaging the deck structure.

SELECTION
The Forestarium concept basis on natural and sustainable building construction. Following the criteria and guidelines on public procurement of sustainable timber according to Danish Ministry of The Environment all structural beams are made of legally harvested timber wood. The changable panles are made of different type of wood matching to required atmosphere inside the room. The only exception is for LEAF and WATER rooms that consist of translucend and textured glass to create desired light effect.
