Elan Valley Tour, Wales Friday 18 April
First we visit Ely a thriving yet peaceful historic city, filled with beautiful Georgian buildings and a delightful riverside area. The towers of the magnificent Cathedral, one of the finest in England, can be seen for miles around and are a constant reminder of the rich history of the fens. In the afternoon we head to Cambridge a beautiful, historic city famous for its University with a wealth of things to see and do including delightful tea rooms and bookshops.
Depart 8.00am and arrive 11.00am approx. Depart 4.30pm and return by 7.00pm approx.
Through the pastoral scenery of the Worcestershire and Shropshire countryside, we reach the Welsh border, travelling through Rhyader to reach the Elan Valley Visitor Centre. Created to provide water for the people of Birmingham, the reservoirs of the Elan Valley are outstandingly beautiful. There is time for lunch (cost not included) and a visit to the Centre before driving around the reservoirs, following the River Severn to Newtown and then home.

Bakewell & Matlock, Derbyshire Monday 21 April NEW We travel through wonderful Derbyshire Dales scenery before visiting the bustling weekly market in the quaint Derbyshire town of Bakewell. In the afternoon we visit Matlock a former spa town lying alongside the river Derwent, we also make a short stop at Masson Mills a unique shopping experience with sixty different retail concepts all under one roof.

Greenwich is famous throughout the world and there is plenty to explore. This World Heritage Site is home to the National Maritime Museum, The Royal Observatory – home of Greenwich Mean Time and the Queen’s House. Admissions to all three is FREE!! Perhaps visit the Cutty Sark a true national icon of British maritime history and the last surviving tea clipper of her time (admissions are not included)

In the afternoon we head to Sandbanks to cross on the chain ferry to the attractive resort of Swanage the gem of Dorset’s Purbeck Coast, with its impressive beach and a flat promenade.

A market town famous for the ‘Crooked Spire’ of its Parish Church. Visit the Victorian market hall which stands in the centre of the old market or the Shambles with its narrow streets of shops and tearooms. The town’s museum and art gallery tells the ‘story of Chesterfield’ and explains how the town has become the place it is today.

Booking Conditions Confirmation of booking We require payment in full within 7 days of booking. We will then send you a confirmation/receipt which is also your ticket for the excursion. If payment is not received within this time, your booking will be cancelled. (Online bookers can print off their confirmation). Methods of payment Cash, cheque, debit and credit cards are acceptable. Reductions There are no reductions for Senior Citizens or Children on Express Excursions. Cancellation (a) By the company If, due to less than 20 bookings, we are forced to cancel any excursion, we reserve the right to do so up to 2 working days prior to departure. All monies paid by passengers will be refunded and following that, we shall be exempt from further liability. (b) By the passenger You may cancel your booking at any time, subject to these conditions: (i) With more than 2 working days prior to departure you will receive a refund of £5.00 per person. (ii) With less than 2 working days notice, the £18 per person fare is non-refundable. We visit Southampton with its unique galleries and museums, perhaps visit the SeaCity Museum which tells the story of the people of the city with their connections to the Titanic or visit one of the indoor shopping centres. In the afternoon we head to Winchester for a chance to discover the treasures of this beautiful city, once the capital of England, with its magnificent Norman cathedral. Here you can stroll and soak up the historic atmosphere of a host of medieval attractions.
Cheltenham Spa is England’s most complete Regency town and its streets are lined with Regency town houses, characterised by ironwork balconies and painted stucco facades, a historic promenade, squares and terraces. There is an impressive range of stylish shops and restaurants and links to music and literature.
Our dropping off point is close to Tower Bridge, giving you access to the Tower of London, home to the dazzling Crown Jewels, the Iconic landmark building The Shard which is the highest building in Western Europe, the Tower Bridge Experience, HMS Belfast and the London Dungeon. Take your pick of these fabulous attractions. (admissions are not included)
Historic Stamford, situated on the River Welland in the county of Lincolnshire, is a beautiful market town described as ‘the finest stone town in England’, with over 600 listed buildings. The town retains its medieval street pattern and gallows still stretch across the High Street as a reminder of the town’s past during the era of the stagecoach and highwaymen! A busy traditional market is held every Friday.

Abergavenny, known as the gateway to Wales is a picturesque town steeped in history and bathing in the beauty of the Brecon Beacons National Park.
