Explore the garden’s three distinct areas: The Italianate terraced gardens; the tree lined Shrub Borders; and the Dell with its giant conifers, wild planting and waterfall.
Visit this impressive Georgian mansion, surrounded by glorious parkland and rescued from ruin in the 1950s. The elegant interior has been restored and filled with fine paintings, fabrics and furniture. Basildon Park was also featured in the Downton Abbey Christmas Special in 2013 as Grantham House.

The National Stud is a showcase for British Thoroughbred breeding and this is a unique opportunity to see behind the scenes of a working thoroughbred stud farm! See mares and foals enjoying the sunshine and summer grass and yearlings being prepared for the famous Tattersalls Sales. We will then make our way to the National Horse Racing Museum where you will have time to purchase lunch before finding out about the daily routine in a trainer’s yard. In order to confirm your booking, we require payment in full within 7 days. Once payment is received we will send you your excursion ticket which confirms receipt of payment, the number and location of seats booked and departure times.
Admission charges All admission charges are included in all prices, unless stated otherwise.
Methods of Payment We accept payments of cash, cheque and credit/debit card at our Travel Office in Henley. By post, please send a cheque made payable to ‘Johnsons (Henley) Ltd’; and by phone we accept debit/credit cards. Please note that there is a 2% charge for payments made by credit card.
Boarding & Discounts All trips depart from Notcutts Solihull Garden Centre, Stratford Road, Shirley, Solihull, West Midlands B90 4EN. Customers joining our coach trips are able to use the Notcutts car park free of charge all day (however, you are politely asked to park towards the rear of the car park). Notcutts Sage Club Members and Notcutts Gardening Club Members will be entitled to a £5.00 per person discount off all day trips on the evidence of membership.
Cancellation • Should circumstances arise where, due to less than 20 bookings, we are forced to cancel any excursion, all monies paid by all passengers for that particular excursion will be refunded and following that, Johnsons shall be exempt from any further liability. • Passengers may cancel at any time prior to departure, subject to the following conditions: I. For cancellations notified to us more than 7 days prior to the departure of the excursions, a £5 charge per booking is made. II. Cancellations for less than 7 days (but more than 1) clear days’ notice is received, a £15 per person charge is made. III. For cancellations made the day before or the day of the excursion, the full cost of the excursion will be charged. IV. Special cancellation charges may apply where admission tickets are purchased in advance. Coach Seat Reservations When you book your excursion, you can also choose and book your coach seats subject to availability at the time of booking.
