Project Brief Project Overview In this project students will be required to work through several exercises to create a framework for a mobile application. Students will be required to show a cumulative understanding of typographic design. New opportunities for exploring hierarchical grids will be explored.

Project Outcomes Students will be responsible for: 1.) A finished comprehensive conceptual plan for a walking/wandering app. 1.1) The app must provide an interface for the various media made available with a mobile device; i.e., video, sound, geo location, etc. 2.) A digital process book and blog showing typographic, physical, historical, and psychogeographic research. 3.) A 12 page printed process book sewn using a pamphlet binding process.

Critique Summary Things that worked: From the Derive exploration, to the final app interface design, there were many obstacles to overcome. With the collection of images during the walk, the color palette came naturally. The challenge then became what information did I feel was necessary to provide witin the app interface pages. I was pleased in the end that the solution displayed the first screen as the homepage, the next contained the post office information, then Karen’s Hairem Salon, The Brick Room Restaraunt, and lastly the Opera House information. On each page there was a use of three typefaces that all seemed to coexist successfully.

Things that didnt: The most challenging part during the project as a whole was to make all four icons of places visited to appear as a symbol set. Dealing with a post office, a hair salon, a restaraunt, and a opera house, I couldnt seem to find a balance. On the second attempt I realized they had to use the same color palette and same amount of simplicity. Also the Oper House page requried more attention for the affect that some-

one would scroll through the bottom three images. I added circle icons instead of an arrow and the one not outlined is the image the viewer is on.
