Folly and Death Brewing Company 1703 Mardi Gras Blvd. Mobile, AL 36602 Charlotte Radcliff Director of Public Relations (251) 555-1703 cradcliff@fdbrewing.com EMBARGO UNTIL 12:01 AM, TUESDAY, JANUARY 5, 2021 Folly and Death Brewing Company: Changing Your Mardi Gras Celebration MOBILE, Ala. (January 5, 2021) – Folly and Death Brewing Company introduces a revolutionary line of specialty craft beers, themed to six of your favorite Carnival societies, for a limited-time release during the 2021 Mardi Gras season. There will be six specialty brews based on six of the Mobile Carnival Association secret societies: Order of Myths IPA, Knights of Revelry Porter, Mystics of Time Pale Ale, Conde Cavaliers Lager, Infant Mystics Stout and Comic Cowboys Hard Seltzer. “The effects of the COVID-19 pandemic has brought a black cloud over our city,” says Ethan Bryars, co-founder and CEO of Folly and Death Brewing Company. “We wanted to find a way to make the upcoming year’s Mardi Gras the best one yet.” Kathryn Huntley, co-founder and creative director, has been meticulously working to create a line of beers that both look and taste like Mardi Gras in Mobile. “There will be six specialty brews,” Huntley says. “Each beer will be different, because each society is different in their own way.” Mayor Sandy Stimpson can hardly wait to try one of Folly and Death Brewing Company’s groundbreaking beers. Mayor Stimpson was invited for a sampling of the specialty beers. “I don't think I'll be able to choose which one to try first to tell you the truth…After trying all of them, the Knights of Revelry Porter has to be my favorite,” Mayor Stimpson says. “Folly and Death Brewing Company will radically change the way we celebrate Mardi Gras in Mobile.”
Mayor Stimpson isn't the only local celebrity waiting to get his hands on a Folly and Death beer. Queen Seline Morrissette and King Sumner Adams, Jr., former Carnival royalty, are both anticipating their release as well. “I'm probably most excited to try the Mystics of Time Pale Ale,” says Queen Seline. “It's been my favorite parade since I was a kid, and I'm interested to see how they make it taste like nostalgia.” “I've got to say the Order of Myths IPA is the best. It just tastes like home,” King Sumner says. “Y'all aren't ready for the first parade if you don't have a Folly and Death beer in hand.” Folly and Death Brewing Company is a local brewery, started by native Mobilians. “Everything about our company screams Mobile,” says Huntley. “Ethan and I both grew up here, and we wanted to honor our beloved city in every way possible.” All products of Folly and Death Brewing Company, including beers, cups, koozies, apparel and stickers are created and manufactured in the heart of Downtown Mobile. All products will be available for purchase at the various Folly and Death locations before, during and after parades during this Mardi Gras season. A focus group was conducted of 15 locals to taste Folly and Death Brewing Company’s specialty brews and give their opinions of the brand identity. All participants were over the age of 21. “It tastes like they put Mobile in a bottle,” said one participant, who was sampling the Order of Myths IPA. “Their logo really captures the ‘City of Six Flags’ essence.” Another participant, a student at the University of South Alabama, said, “I’d like to see new Orleans top that…Hands down, best beer I've ever had.” This participant sampled both the Mystics of Time Pale Ale and the Comic Cowboys Hard Seltzer. Each participant of the focus group received complimentary t-shirts from Folly and Death Brewing Company. As a way to spread the word, various restaurants and bars in the downtown area will have free koozies available to anyone, while supplies last. As every Mobilian knows, the end of Mardi Gras brings the beginning of Lent. Because it is the end of the season of indulgence, Folly and Death Brewing Company is a delicacy that can only be enjoyed during Carnival season in Mobile.
