P–3: Providing a Foundation for Our Youngest Learners According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, teaching in preschool to grade three is one of the fastest growing professions in the United States. Early Childhood programs that use developmentally appropriate practices have a positive impact, not only on children’s readiness for school, but on their overall psychosocial and cognitive development. Georgian Court University’s early childhood P–3 program prepares candidates for work in this vital field by focusing their attention on young learners, assuring they acquire necessary content knowledge, coaching them to create effective learning environments, and supporting them as they become professional early childhood educators.

Preparation to Teach ALL Students The opportunity for candidates to earn Teacher of Students with Disabilities certification along with their primary certification sets Georgian Court’s education programs apart from the rest. We prepare our teacher candidates to teach all of the students in a classroom. Our inclusive approach addresses the skills required for teachers to be successful in any educational setting. Being eligible for both certifications makes our graduates highly employable and capable teachers.

Scoring High To qualify as a teacher in New Jersey, candidates must pass a licensure exam (Praxis II) related to the discipline they plan to teach. We are proud that Georgian Court’s teacher candidates have a nearperfect record in meeting this statewide standard.
