Why a Women’s College?

Awilda Hernandez ‘11 Major: Criminal Justice; Minor: Spanish

“I fell in love with the campus. I had visited other colleges, but I never felt as welcomed as I did at GCU. The campus is absolutely beautiful and I knew, that with the support and motivation of my family, Georgian Court would make my dreams a reality.”

Study after study confirms that women’s college students: • develop measurably higher levels of self-esteem, are more likely to graduate, and have more opportunities for leadership • report greater satisfaction with their college experience in almost all areas—academically, developmentally, and personally • are more successful in their careers—holding higher positions, earning more money, and enjoying greater job satisfaction • represent 33 percent of female board members of Fortune 1000 companies, 30 percent of a recent BusinessWeek list of rising women stars in corporate America, and more than 20 percent of women in Congress It’s been said that dreams come true when hard work and opportunity meet. Georgian Court University is your opportunity. You’ll be encouraged to find your voice, discover your passion, and live your mission.

One of GCU’s most successful and popular programs is WILD: Women in Leadership Development. An intensive, four-year experience, this unique program gives students unparalleled opportunities for personal and professional growth through workshops, lectures, and real-world experiences with successful women from all walks of life. Students explore everything from business etiquette, public speaking, and dressing for success to government lobbying, networking, and negotiation. It’s a life-changing opportunity—one of many that make GCU so special.

“WILD has helped me in every aspect of my life. I have increased my organizational, public speaking, and writing skills from attending the various WILD workshops offered. Thanks to this program, I have become a more confident and well-rounded woman, and I would not trade the experience for anything.” Allyson Buckley ‘10

New programs

to meet the needs of a changing, global marketplace At GCU, we are constantly evaluating our academic programs to ensure our students are equipped with the best tools for success. Check out a handful of new degree and certificate programs in fields that are in demand and on the rise.

• Developed in partnership with Meridian Health—one of the area’s largest employers—the B.S.N. in Nursing directly addresses the shortage of health care workers. • Projected increases in school enrollment make Early Childhood Development (P–3) one of the fastest-growing and in-demand areas in education.

• As more people and organizations spend time and money on health and fitness programs, the demand for professionals with a B.S. in Exercise Science, Wellness, and Sports will increase faster than average through 2018.

• The Minor in Sports Management takes passion for the game to a new level, exploring everything from what it takes to keep fans happy to the complex finances that fuel the $560 billion-a-year sports industry.

• The B.A. in Dance/Minor in Dance Therapy is perfect for students who aspire to perform on stage or explore increasing opportunities for dance teachers and dance therapists—both growing fields in recreation and wellness.
