CreatingSoothesART the Soul
If you have ever created anything, chances are you have already experienced how it can soothe the soul. It can be paper crafting, scrapbooking, painting a canvas, or other artistic endeavors such as photography, quilting, gardening, or writing music.
Finding Rest In The Busy

Although the base begins with dark blotches of colour to represent the chaos of our busy lives, a soft spa-like blue covers over top, portraying how our souls are soothed when we find rest in God.
Creating soothes the soul! There is something deeply moving about bringing to life something that didn’t exist before, especially when you are the creator. I often find myself “in the flow” where time seems to stand still, my worries take a vacation, and I’m shocked at how much time has elapsed when I finally look. Even science provides evidence of a shift in our body when creating! Creating reduces stress and taps into our emotions in healthy ways to make us feel good. As we create, the “feel-good” neurotransmitter Dopamine is released, boosting our mood and ability to focus.
Soul ART projects then take this creative state even deeper by including other activities, such as prayer, meditation, journaling, symbolism, and music to create an extra soul-soothing experience while creating a mixed media piece.
A final reason that creating art soothes the soul is simple: God, the original Creator, created us in His image so it makes sense that our souls are soothed when we create as well.

“When I received your email about my submissions, I was ecstatic, so much that I almost cried. The recipe album is a labor of love, a family treasure of hope turned into an heirloom as it passes through generations. My Mom passed away in 2004 and when the original album full of recipes fell apart, I was devastated. But my hubby said, “You can scrapbook the recipes into a new album” and so after many hours the new album was created. This album is to be passed on to my children and then their children. The handwritten recipes are well loved as you can see from some of discoloration on the pages. I included many photos of my mother. This was a sentimental and heartwarming task.” ~ Carmelita
