What’s All the Fuss About ?

What is the ultimate classical technique for paper crafters? Fussy cutting! It may even be that scissors were invented just for this. Anything can be an embellishment as long as your scissors can reach it, and there is no more economical way to add elements to your designs. With fussy cutting, you can add mementos to your layouts, cut a notch into beautiful, patterned paper to tuck your photo behind, crop images from pictures, and add layer after gorgeous layer. All it takes is a pair of scissors, the memory of your first-grade teacher guiding you through good cutting techniques, and perhaps a little patience, and you’ve got yourself instant elements for all your projects.

Journaling is the very heart of scrapbooking. Not only does it record important facts for future generations, such as who, what, when, and where, but it can also be cathartic to the storyteller who is sharing their intimate thoughts and feelings. Given its integral role in scrapbooking, why not add some creativity by twisting those words into interesting shapes that also help tell the story. For example, journaling about reading habits become the pages of a book or Christmas memories become part of the Christmas tree. What a delight to see stories come alive and take shape in your memory books!
