THE ORGANIZED CRAFTER
By Tiffany Spaulding
One thing that is often overlooked is staying organized with the project you are physically working on in the THE moment. If you find yourself with no workspace because your desktop is covered with supplies you’re currently using, then you need a workspace organizer.
ORGWhat is a workspace organizer?
A workspace organizer is a simple tool that gives you a place to put the materials and supplies you’re currently using. A couple of examples are the Craft & Carry Workstation and the Die, Stamp & Supply Organizer. These are part of the Totally-Tiffany brand, but you may have something similar at home. Look for something with a variety of heights and sections.
Three reasons for using a workspace organizer
1. Having an organizer for all of your tools and materials reduces clutter and frees up space on your work surface. Less clutter and more open work surface will contibute to your creativity.
2. You’ll get more craft projects completed in less time. When using a workspace organizer, you’ll avoid burying things such as your scissors, pens, rulers, or tape runners. Your tools and supplies will be more visible and accessible. The wasted time and frustration you experience while “tapping for buried treasure” under your paper and supplies will disappear.
3. Clean up is simplified. Cleaning up after a craft project is often the worst part of crafting. One of the biggest advantages to using a workspace organizer is that everything is already in one place. You can pick up the organizer and move around your room, easily putting your remaining supplies back where they belong.
Added BONUS – If you don’t finish the project, you can simply move the organizer off your desk and onto a shelf or into a closet, and when you have time to craft again, everything is ready to go.
