REFLECTION

The Architectural Design courses I took in the past, were all challenging and pushed my abilities to design aesthetically pleasing but functional spaces. Architectural Design 5 (AD5) this academic year was difficult for me. The shift from manual drawings to digital outputs was tough since I am not familiar or equipped with the skills and tools that were needed. I had no choice but to force myself to step out of my comfort zone even there were a lot of doubts and worries that were holding me back. There were times when I was very disappointed in myself and wanted to give up. However, these setbacks pushed me to get back up and to be better.

Even if it was tough, I am grateful for this course as it helped me grow as a student. The course and the mentor helped me by improving my design process. In my past years, my mentors did not gave much attention to the inital phases of the design process. However, AD5 made me realize that the first few phases of the design process was so important as it shall guide you throughout your design. I have a long way to go in this journey but I hope I can share my knowledge with my peers and further improve myself and skills that are needed in this profession.
