A big hello to all Kauai High School Key Clubbers! I hope summer is treating you all fine so far. Personally, I have been enjoying the break with lots of sushi and saltwater. School is over, but our service projects aren’t. I want to say thank you to all the members who continuously volunteer for the Lydgate Beach Cleanup. Youreffortshavemadeasignificantdifferenceinkeeping ourbeachescleanandsafe.Iwasalsothrilledtoseeyou all at the Bon Dances across the island so far and your rhythmic moves. There are plenty more upcoming opportunities to serve, such as bingo, beach cleanups, bon dances, and Fourth of July Hospice. Just a very friendly reminder that our monthly hour requirement is still five hours, so get those hours in! I know you guys are very much capable! Let’s continue building our home, school, andcommunitytogether!

With the warmest hugs, Alina Lin Kaua’i High School 24 - 25 Treasurer

Our Pride Parade project was held on May 31st and June 1st. On both days we were mainly helping with the set up of the parade. On the 31st, members helpedsetuptentsaswellasthingslike cones to block off certain areas. Then on the next day, the official day of the parade, we helped any vendors that were setting up their location. We helped by carrying things out of their car and setting up tables, and things like that. Thisprojectwassuccessfulasthis was our first time helping out at our island'sprideparade.

On June 1st, prior to the main event of Taste of Hawaii, Key Club members attended a volunteer meeting. During the meeting, Key Club members gained insight intotheirrolesasvolunteersandhadtheopportunityto addressanyqueriesorconcerns.Followingthemeeting, members continued to assist with setting up for the event, assembling benches and maintaining the cleanliness of Smith's Family Guardian Luau by ensuring that there was no litter in sight for the main event. The dayofTasteofHawaiiwasfilledwithalivelycommunity atmosphere, music, and food vendors. Vendors from variouspartsofHawaiijoinedtosharetheircuisinesand promote the food culture of Hawaii. To maintain this fantastic event, Key Club members ensured that vendors were provided with the necessary supplies to serve customers. Throughout and after the event, members diligently searched the area for trash and unloaded garbage bins full of trash, ensuring a clean environment for the chefs, musicians, and the community. Once again, this was another successful project that contributed to the community and the overallatmosphere.

During this event members helped with parking as the event organizers were not abletodoitalone.Inmyopinionthiswas one of the more complex projects. Especially when we ran out of parking during the second shift so we had to come up with better solutions. Such as directingpeopletoparkacrossthestreet and finding even more space in the already crowded parking lot. Even with this little setback we were able to serve our community to the fullest extent. Bon Dances are always super fun projects to attend.
