We have seen change in our country many times and one of the huge changes occurred in the early 90’s. That is being free from the apartheid government and the black South Africans regained power and courage. This was never going to be possible if there were no candidates who dedicated their lives and fighting for human rights. It took them strength and wisdom and God helped them. Today we live in a free country, where we are able to do as we please. We no longer go out of our homes with the fear of being thrown into prison for no reason. We have been given a voice, a voice to express ourselves. As we are celebrating our freedom as the country this month, we salute Mama Winnie Madikizela Mandela. We chat to Okuhle Beauty owner Andiswa Kota to hear more about her business venture and career in the beauty industry. On our cover this month we have Loyiso Madinga a vibrant and witty comedian. We have fashion, food and beauty tips in stored just for you and also a little bit of this and that.

Who is Loyiso Madinga and where is he from? Ah ah ah! I wish I could answer that one. Well, what I can say is that Loyiso Madinga is a guy who was born and raised in a small town. He is a guy who is trying. How did growing up in Mount Fletcher mould the person you are today? We grew up fetching water and that gave me strong and broad shoulders.. I don’t know if you’ve seen pictures of me but I have sturdy shoulders. When I pose I always want to make sure that that feature is revealed the most (laughs). Rural life makes you dream more. I think I had a lot of time to dream and so in that dreaming my dreams got bigger and bigger. And right now I am trying to see how many of those dreams can come true.
6
What is definitive and unique about? Well, oh man. I love comedy in a very unhealthy way. If comedy was a woman, I would be that boyfriend who is difficult to break up with. I’d tell her, “No, I don’t accept this breakup.”
So is this why you chose comedy over advertising? Was it because of this absolute love you have for comedy? You know what, I was not in love with advertising. Advertising is like that girl you marry because your parents told you she’d make a good wife. The kind of girl who abuses you and you would go to bed unhappy every night.
“
I had a lot of time to dream and so in that dreaming my dreams got bigger and bigger

Loyiso Madinga is a former advertising executive who decided to reassess his career path and with just a blink of an eye made a massive U-turn. He followed his heart and like most creatives he realised his dream. Madinga made his comedic debut in 2012 and since then his path has been unfolding into an adventurous gallop. He is the first African correspondent for The Daily Show with Trevor Noah and by the look of things this young comedians star isn’t preparing to stop shining anytime soon. The Mount fletcher born trailblazing being believes that ‘hard work pays’ and indeed all are witnessing the fruits of this slogan in his life. We caught up with Loyiso to find out more about him.

Your father didn’t really approve the first career you chose which is advertising. What do you think caused his uneasiness?
“
Most of our parents are old school folks. I think that their misunderstanding comes from them recognising certain industries. If you do not choose careers to become an Engineer, a doctor or a lawyer to elderly society this means that you are not trying hard at life. If you’d tell them that you will study Computer Science, they would be like, ‘oh my child but you will be poor’. So my dad didn’t understand how big the advertising industry is and how much opportunities there is. Our parents loves us and wants us to be happy and do better in life, which is why they worry so much. And they also want a good return on their investments. *giggles*
That is so true, every parent wants to see better results at the end of the day. So how does the reality of a comic differ from typical expectations?
Our parents loves us and wants us to be happy and do better in life, which is why they worry so much
”
We are not always trying to be funny. I think people would expect you to be always funny. If only they knew that I am a very serious person. Most of us comedians like to spend time alone in our secret spaces, and that is where we get to think and plan. We then go out to gigs and then back to our homes after performances. How is your experience working on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah? Remember I am working on this side (South Africa), working with a huge team that side (America). It is a really good experience to work with [them] because they are a very hard working crew. The job is very demanding. We pitch segments and put them together before sending work to the team that side.
8
Pictures supplied by Loyiso Madinga
So we are learning to work faster and getting the work done as quickly as possible so that our segments can be ready for TV. Trevor is a much focused individual and that makes work quite serene. He is a fast thinking guy with solutions. A gentleman and it is completely tremendous working with him.
What would you change about the industry the comedy industry? There is only one thing people need to get (both audience and comics), and that is to understand that comedy is an industry that is still growing and we are still trying to figure it out. Comedians including me, we need to know that we can’t just do or say anything on stage that would scare people off and audiences also mustn’t judge comics. If you don’t like something be quiet about it especially if you do not know the whole story or you don’t understand the comedian. At the same time we must know that we are accountable for anything that we say on stage. What would you say to a young boy sitting at home with no direction? What advice would you give them? What I would say is that sometimes people surrender because something seems impossible or hard to do. But what people don’t realise is that no matter what path you choose in life it is going to be hard. So that mustn’t be the reason why you do not do something. So whatever you want to do you have your whole life to do it. You don’t need to be under pressure and decide that you want to achieve it in five years’ time. Just do it and keep pushing no matter what. It’s doing it your whole life that makes you an extra special person.
“
I felt successful when I decided to do comedy and that made me feel like I was winning at life
”
I am not successful because I am now on The Daily Show, I felt successful when I decided to do comedy and that made me feel like I was winning at life. There are very few people that get to do what they want to do out of life. So whatever it is that you do or want to do in life just do it well and someone will one day pay you for it.

FEW PLACES THAT YOU CAN GO TO CELEBRATE FREEDOM DAY COMMEMORATION Freedom Day is a South African public holiday celebrated on 27 April, the date, which symbolises freedom and remembers the first post-apartheid elections held on that day in 1994. The first democratic elections were the first non-racial national elections held in SA, and regardless of how difficult things still seem in SA, denying particular South Africans the right to cast their vote is dictatorial. This day is not created to only remember the bitter history and wrongs of the past, but to also celebrate our victories as a nation in building bridges to a better future for everyone. Though the nation has gained this freedom there is still a long way to go, but we need to acknowledge the good achieved to keep us motivated, to keep SA going forward. There are few places that you can go to celebrate this commemoration, be sure to be in a space where you can be reminded of the privilege of living in a free country.
1. Take a trip to Robben Island If you've never been, now is the time. The island has also recently launched an app in partnership with Google Maps, which will enable visitors to experience the island on their own time, with an audio playing ‘tour guide’ in hand. NB: Locals love Robben Island again! Record tourist numbers hail in 20th year
12
2. Feel Soweto There are plenty of ways to take a trip into this cultural hub of the country. If anything, it has become so much more than the only street in the world to have houses two Nobel Peace Prize winners which in itself is an astounding fact. It's a living, breathing pulse of kasi life in South Africa and there are plenty of other mustsees in this urban city. You can also opt for an organized tour with either Soweto.co.za or City Sightseeing, and you’ll be sure to hit all the sweet spots. NB: A holiday in Soweto?
3. Go to Franschhoek It’s both a cultural hub, filled with history from long before Freedom Day. But this also happens to be the place closest to where Nelson Mandela spent his last days in prison. The private house on the Victor Verster premises (now the Drakenstein Correctional Facility) where Mandela lived has been declared a South African National Heritage Site, and a statue of Mandela stands just outside the prison gates. You can stop by before heading into Franschhoek for a Freedom Day lunch. NB: Long Weekend Fun: 6 must-do things in the Cape Winelands
4. Visit the Apartheid museum
8. Visit the Nelson Mandela Capture site
This iconic museum it voted as one of the favourite in SA, and will give you deep insight into the wrongs of the Apartheid era, as well as the good that overcame that evil regime.
This is one of the most beautiful of the remembrance sites in South Africa. This sculpture in Howick in KwaZulu Natal is an interactive area where you can reminisce alone or spend time with your loved ones. The beautiful green surrounds add to the display that becomes Madiba’s face as you walk closer. Nelson Mandela capture site. You have to stand at a specific spot to see the face of mandela in the sculpture

5. Visit Lilliesleaf Farm in Rivonia Once the nerve centre of the liberation movement and a place of refuge for its leaders, today Liliesleaf is one of South Africa's foremost, award-winning heritage sites, where the journey to democracy in South Africa is honoured. "Liliesleaf has always been a place of dialogue. In the early 1960s, when the property was the headquarters for covert, underground activities and a safe house for many leading figures of the liberation movement, debates on political and military policy and strategy were commonplace. People from diverse backgrounds but with a common vision met here to discuss South Africa's emancipation from an oppressive apartheid regime."

9. Hang out in Sandton at the feet of the father of our nation The Nelson Mandela square boasts a sixmeter tall sculpture of Madiba (which is almost as big as he was…). Here, while you go about your daily business of shopping and grabbing a bite to eat, you will be in the presence of this icon looking down on passers-by.
NB: Have you checked out Sandton's new whiskey lounge 7. Attend a proudly South African festival The country is your oyster is this category. You can either hit the Tankwa Karoo for the iconic AfrikaBurn. Or head down the Garden Route for SA’s Gay extravaganza that is the highly-celebrated Pink Loerie Fest.
You can also head to the equally impressive botanical gardens of Durban or Johannesburg, or the smaller ones in Betty’s Bay, Stellenbosch, or the beautiful ‘garden’ hat is the south coast and sunshine coast as a whole!

Farewell Mama Winnie You will forever be missed Nomzamo Winifred Madikizela-Mandela‚ a stalwart in the fight against apartheid‚ has died at the age of 81. Madikizela-Mandela died after a long illness‚ for which she had been in and out of hospital since the beginning of the year. She surrendered peacefully in the early hours of Monday afternoon. This renowned comrade of the people was born in Bizana in the Eastern Cape in 1936‚ she moved to Johannesburg to study social work after matriculating. She met lawyer and anti-apartheid activist Nelson Mandela in 1957 and they were married a year later. They had two children together. However‚ her matrimony life with Mandela was momentary‚ as he was arrested in 1963 and sentenced to life imprisonment for disloyalty. In 1969‚ Madikizela-Mandela became one of the first detainees under Section 6 of the notorious Terrorism Act of 1967. She was detained for 18 months in solitary confinement in a condemned cell at Pretoria Central Prison before being charged under the Suppression of Communism Act of 1950. In 1991‚ she was found guilty of kidnapping and being an accessory to assault of Stompie Seipei‚ a young activist who was killed by a member of her bodyguards. In 1996 Nelson and Winnie divorced ‚ after 37 years of their marriage. Even after her divorce to former president Nelson Mandela, Mama Winnie as she was affectional called by south Africans, continued to serve the public. She was loved by many and will continually be remembered for her most daring contribution in the political arena. Hamba kakuhle MBOKODO

ntied Fashion MORE TO CLOTHES THAN EYE CAN MEET
There is a lot more to clothes than we see and be acquainted with. They are not just a simple human need, but they are also a system of expression. From following the most recent trends, to artistically showing your personality, clothing can be costly. Here are five tips to make your money for clothing go further: • Buy the right size. Buying an outfit or item which is slightly too small, because we reckon we’ll lose some excess weight and enjoy it later, very seldom works. Buy what is flattering on you, right now. • Sell what you’re not wearing. Go through your closet and start chucking any items you haven’t worn in the last three months. You could also ask your friends or use social media. When you get cash for your old clothes, then you can buy some new ones. • Be creative. Altering and mending old clothes or clothes from the thrift store can be great fun, and give you a unique look. Try sewing some patches onto some jeans or a denim jacket. • Make sure you have the basics down. Get basic items like white T-shirts and jeans that you can pair with other clothes and accessories. • Every time you think of buying an expensive item, think about a cost-perwear formula: divide the item by how many times you think you’ll wear it over a certain period, for example, one year. This can help you decide if it will really be worth the expensive price-tag.

Wardrop fundamentals In the closets of fashion lovers around the world, you would not only find items that are trending, but also a set of really good basics. Basics are the so-called uniform that you can always depend on. They can be dressed any way as long as they are matched to suit different occasions. Use international fashion weeks as inspiration, but make sure to suss out the best basics possible, and base your purchases on these styles. There are three classics to stock up on and here they are: Button Up Shirt A button up shirt is one of the most versatile items you could buy. Whether you choose a plain white shirt, or a printed shirt, you will find yourself wearing it a lot. The classic white shirt can be worn as formal business attire by day, and by night add red lipstick and a sparkly necklace. Classic Coat or Blazer Another important piece is the classic coat or blazer. You would need to try on a few styles to find out which one suits your figure best. A coat or blazer in a neutral colour is bound to stand the test of time, and not form part of a passing trend. Perfect Pair of Jeans Although the perfect pair of jeans is hard to find, it forms a very important part of your closet basics.
20
For work, pair slim-fit jeans with a classic white shirt, blazer and pumps. If your workspace is more casual you could even wear a pair of sneakers for the active wear look. Then for the evening, update your look with a pair of heels or wedges. The style and fit of jeans are also very important. If your figure isn’t suited to skinny jeans, don’t force the look rather opt for a slim fit. It is important to be comfortable, and look good at the same time. After all, these days, beauty doesn’t have to mean discomfort.

ntied Fashion Insight DEVELOP YOUR SENSE FOR DRESSING SHARP PART1 You want to dress well but you have no clue how to go about it. Many women and men struggle with this aspect, but despite all the disasters never stop trying because eventually you will start cracking the nut. Once you get it right in your head it will actually become easy and everything will start making sense. You just need a bit of guidance so that you ca on focus on the right things. I have 20 rules that will help you build a kick-ass style of your own, but you will have to work on it. 1. START FROM SCRATCH When you want to start dressing your style, you have to start from the beginning, it doesn't mean you should discard from all your clothes right away, but you should accept that you will eventually get rid of your current wardrobe. Saying goodbye to some of your favourites will be hard, but it must be done in order to make progress. But don't worry you will get better favourites that will make you look way more awesome. 2. FORGET EVERYTHING YOU THINK YOU KNOW Accept that you may not know as much as you think. Assume you know nothing, and you'll be open to learn everything. Things you deemed inconsequential turn to be of vital importance, while things that you thought were crucial turned not to matter at all. 3 FOCUS ON THE BASICS Mastering the basics alone will benefit you greatly. I always say its half the battle, But it’s more like three quarters, if not more.
21
4 BUILD A SOLID WARDROBE FOUNDATION. You need to collect versatile wardrobe staples that match well with almost everything basic items like white shirt, dark blue jeans, fitted black dress and grey sweaters. Items like these will serve as a training wheel while you learn to get the basics right. They will also keep you safe from making mistakes when you don't know how to match clothes yet. 5 KEEP IT SIMPLE. Leonardo DaVinci once said, “Simplicity is the ultimate sophisticated". Keep this in mind when you're pulling your outfits together. Stop over complicating things. Simple style is always the best style. 6 FIT COMES FIRST. This is the golden rule, getting the fit right is your priority always. Unfortunately most of us get this wrong and getting is wrong sabotages everything else you try. Fit come first ALWAYS, if you decide to follow one role from this article make sure it’s this one. 7 TRIM YOUR WARDROBE. Having a bulging wardrobe offers no benefits, in fact having lots of clothes in your wardrobe is impractical. You do not need lots of clothes to have a great arsenal of stylish outfits. You should prune your wardrobe periodically for items that look washed out, no longer fit or that you simply no longer wear. You should discard these items and keep your wardrobe decluttered. Debrief Pick one thing, and focus on mastering that one thing. Then pick the next and the next. All you need to do is follow these rules, focus on the right things and take one small step at a time. See you on our next issue where I’ll be continuing with DEVELOPING YOUR KICK-Ass dress sense.

KEEP YOUR SKIN HEALTHY AND GLOWING If you don't have time for in-depth skin care, you can still indulge yourself by acing the basics. Good skin care and healthy lifestyle choices can help delay natural aging and prevent various skin problems. Get started with these five no-nonsense tips. Sun protection Protecting your skin from the sun is another way of taking care of your skin. Being exposed to the sun can cause wrinkles, age spots and other skin complications. It can also increase the risk of skin cancer. Use sunscreen. Use a broad-scale sunscreen with an SPF of at least 15. Apply sunscreen charitably, and reapply every two hours or more often if you're swimming or perspiring. Wear protective clothing. Cover your skin with tightly woven long-sleeved shirts, long pants and wide-overflowed hats. Quite smoking If you are a smoker, your skin will look older and you will wrinkle prematurely. Smoking constricts the tiny blood vessels in the remotest layers of skin, which reduces blood flow and makes skin paler. Smoking also damages collagen and elastin. In addition, the repetitive facial expressions you make when smoking such as squeezing your lips when inhaling and squinting your eyes to keep out smoke can contribute to wrinkles.
Mayo Clinic does not endorse companies or products. Advertising revenue supports our notfor-profit mission. Treat your skin gently Daily purgative and shaving can take a toll on your skin. Hot water, long showers or baths remove oils from your skin. Avoid strong soaps and detergents, they can strip oil from your skin. Shave carefully; apply shaving cream, lotion or gel before shaving to protect and lubricate your skin. If your skin is dry, use a moisturizer that fits your skin type. For daily use, consider a moisturizer that contains SPF.
Eat a healthy diet A healthy diet can help you look and feel your best. Eat plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean proteins. The association between diet and acne isn't clear but some research suggests that a diet rich in fish oil or fish oil supplements and low in unhealthy fats and processed or refined carbohydrates might promote younger looking skin. Drinking plenty of water helps keep your skin hydrated. Manage stress Uncontrolled stress can make your skin more sensitive and trigger acne breakouts and other skin problems. To encourage healthy skin and a healthy state of mind take steps to manage your stress. Get enough sleep, set reasonable limits, scale back your to-do list and make time to do the things you enjoy. The results might be more dramatic than you expect.

One on one with ANDISWA KOTA
B
orn and bred in Port Elizabeth, Andiswa Kota is a vibrant make-up artist who believes in respecting oneself and others. She is the owner of Okuhle Beauty. This beautiful, charismatic and down to earth individual is swiftly climbing the ladder in the beauty industry and she seems to be loving every moment. We met up with her to hear more about her and her profession. Who is andiswa kota and where is she from? I was born and bred in Port Elizabeth, New Brighton, then moved to KwaMagxaki when I was about 4 or 5 years old. I am a very shy individual, which is contrary to popular belief because some people think of me as a very extroverted and out spoken individual. I think this is because I am able to adapt any environment. I am a people’s person at the sometime I am able to spend time alone and not get lonely or bored. So how was growing up in that very quiet location? KwaMagxaki is a place that is far from the hype and busy life of PE. So when was growing up I was that kind of child who never leaves the house unless it’s necessary.
24
I never really moved around and explore the place. Part of me being an introvert comes from that environment, because it moulded me to be that kind of person. But as the time goes I learnt to familiarize myself with different environments. I am the youngest at home so I have always been the baby, my parents and siblings spoiled me a lot. Growing up in a place like KwaMagxaki has given me time to think and reflect. I am not perfect, I am not better but for me I wouldn’t choose to do life any other way. I am still that introvert but because of the industry that I am in I need to be extroverted and adapt to the certain environments because I need to network with other creatives. For that introverted Andiswa, how hard was it for her to make friends? I never got to the stage of not being able to make friends because I was able to relate with people when I was a kid.
Even at school I had friends, they were kids that I was able to relate to because the teachers knew how to group us. So I was fortunate that I could gravitate with children with similar character as me. I am quite a flexible blend, because I also can relate with older people than me and people with different characters than mine. When did you realise that the beauty industry was for you? In my late primary school years my mom bought me a tiny or kiddies Tinkerbelle makeup kit. So that was my first encounter with beauty equipment. Then when I was in high school I started dolling up myself, my cousins and my siblings. Do you remember your first paying client? There was this one specific lady who was my cousins’ friend, she was attending a wedding and she was the first real client. You know she gave me fifty rends showing her sense of gratitude and I was happy with that. At that time I wasn’t doing it for money but I enjoyed making people more beautiful. I was happy to get just about anything and fifty rends was a lot of money back in the day. From there the payments we fluctuating a bit because I didn’t have pricing and it was ok because I wasn’t business minded. When did you start Okuhle beauty? I registered my business with a plan of starting a marketing establishment and that was in November 2009. I wasn’t active in making the business operate because I was still fully employed at that time. So then in 2014 I started to say, ‘ok you know what I need to get a grasp of this because time is running’. So I left my job and stated working on my company but didn’t trade as a marketing company but I started working as a beauty company because I am more passionate about beauty than marketing.
The challenges I had was mostly capital because I did have anyone to fund or sponsor my company. You know when you are starting a new company you need to brand your company, you need equipment and all the necessary tools you are going to use. So that was my biggest challenge, and now whatever money that is coming in I am trying by all means to spread it so that the business can grow. What inspires you to wake up every day? Even through those challenges you have keeps you pushing. That is a very big question and I think we as business people are faced with those challenges every blessed day. When you wake up and before you go to bed, challenges are constantly on your mind. Trying to figure out what can be done to conquer those challenges. You then gather your thought and ask self ’why are you doing this?’ You sometimes question yourself if you are in the right path or doing it right or is it time to throw in the towel and let it all go. To me it’s the aplitic value of it all that makes me go on. And seeing my work evolve and my gift being cultivated daily makes me want to do more. So how much have you grown from when you started till now? The growth has been consisted but at the end of the day growth is inevitable in any business. You are bound to grow but the question is, how much? At this stage I can proudly say that my graphs have been on a climb. And I think innumerable opportunities would have help increase my growth but not having those opportunities hasn’t speed up my growth. You work with different characters all the time, some are angelic some are divas. How do you deal with different characters and incorporating a look with a character?
25
There is only one thing that is key when working with people and that is communication. This starts with me being able to listen to my clients. They may not have the right face structure for the look but if she is clear about what she wants then that is fine. My responsibility is to listen to their brief and from there I would advise them if the look if suitable for them or not. I need to educate them first and justify my point of view later. You need to be sensitive to them because some have egos and some are easily offended.
What are the 5 important makeup items one needs to have in her bag? 1. 2.
3. 4.
5.

untied Finding your ideal careers careers
S
ometimes it can be so hard to find the career of your dreams. After years of studying and preparing yourself for yourself for the future one would think that it is going to be easy to get a proper job or job in the industry of ones dreams. To be frank, it is not easy but very difficult to acquire a dream job nowadays, and then you are left with few or no options on the job market and end up settling for less. Settling for less would mean applying for jobs below your aspirations, way below than where you have set up your standards. In my opinion there is nothing wrong or disgraceful in getting yourself a job that will help you earn remunerations honestly. But it seems unfair that after doing what is required of you to do (studying), then when you have finished studying and can meet the requirements of the industry you were preparing for only to find out that they (industry) are not ready to receive you (no jobs at all). It is quite daunting if I must say. But in all that do not despair, you will find your way to your dream career. You just need faith and a little push to the right direction. Here are a few sites that will help you realise your dream. You will also get to find out how much you know about yourself and the industry you want to enter.

spend Spending money and wasting it are too different things. You can spend and save but you can’t waste and save! So you have been stressed out and lately trying to figure out what went wrong with your bank balance. Having flashbacks and browsing through your last shopping trip, you wonder. ntied wellness ways to take care of yourself every day
It’s easy to get trapped in the unremitting cycle of work, sleep, and more work. After a while, your body screams in remonstration and demands you pay devotion to its needs. Your body and mind deserve some rest. In just a few minutes a day you can find small ways to take care of yourself that don’t cut into your busy schedule. Here are ways to take care of yourself every day.
4. Schedule time for yourself. When we fill out our calendars for the day, we usually don’t schedule in time for ourselves. We remember important conference calls, meetings, and deadlines. Next time you start filling out your daily calendar schedule blocks of time for yourself. Schedule time in the morning for some exercise. Schedule time in the evening to visit with friends.
1. Keep a journal. Writing is a therapeutic activity. In just a few minutes, you can write your thoughts, worries, gratitude, or whatever else comes to mind. Keep the journal near your bed and make a habit of writing a few paragraphs or even sentences each night before you go to sleep.
5. Unplug from technology. People tend to grab their phone first thing when waking up. Then work begins. Checking email leads to replying to email and before you know it, it is time to get up and get ready for work. Leave the electronics alone until you have given yourself time to prepare for the day. Make time for breakfast (the most important meal of the day) and save the email for the end of your morning ritual.
2. Read a book or a magazine. We all need to escape from the pressing concerns of reality once in a while. On your next lunch break get away from your computer and pick up a book in your favourite genre or a hobby magazine. Reading is a relaxing activity that helps us escape from the pressures of our lives.
3. Exercise your body for a happy mind. A little exercise will go a long way to reducing stress. Even just a brisk walk in the morning will energize and motivate you for the day ahead. Set your alarm for a little earlier than 2. Quick morning meditation. A quick five or ten-minute meditation each morning will help balance your mind for the busy day ahead. Take a few moments to relax before you begin preparing for the day. Think about all the things you are grateful for and give yourself some positive encouragement.

ntiedspiritual This is a pattern with God's people all the time. It is unexplainable how Amaziah the king of Judah could defeat his enemies and when he has done that successfully could come back and worship the 'losers' if I may use the word. How do you worship someone or something that cannot help or save itself. How do you neglect the God who has saved you for a dummy carved in wood or stone?
By: Prophet K Tukwayo WHEN THE GIFT BECOMES MORE ATTRACTIVE THAN GIVER "When Amaziah returned from slaughtering the Edomites, he brought back the gods of the people of Seir. He set them up as his own gods, bowed down to them and burned sacrifices to them. The anger of the Lord burned against Amaziah, and he sent a prophet to him, who said, 'why do you consult this people's gods, which could not save their own people from your hand? 2CHRONICLES 25:14-15. Interpreted this verse could say, 'when Linda was looking for a job she fasted and prayed and God answered her prayers and she got an amazing high paying job. She got paid the money and she now was too busy to go to church, Sundays became her days of rest and the little time she could go to the mall. The Lord sent a prophet to her to ask, how do you worship the money that I gave to you and neglect me.'
We all cry and beg God for things, we make promises that are never fulfilled, but when we get our prayers answered we forget God and start worshipping the gifts forgetting the fact that the gift can probably not birth or rather give you more than itself but there is more where that came from. Unfortunately for us we get the one apple even a box then we burn the tree. God through the prophet asks Amaziah a very important question, that this god could not help his own people what do you think it can really do for you, your own hand was more powerful than this god that you are worshipping right now. It is very important for us as believers to know that we can never honor the gift but we should always honor the giver. That the gift is only one piece of fruit but the giver has the whole tree, and the problem with one apple is that it can rot, it can be stolen, you could eat it all and not even keep the seeds and plant them because you are not wise, but the tree can always give you more every season without fail. Therefore let's not have misplaced loyalties, know exactly which God you serve and serve no foreign gods.

Freedom is yet to come
T
he dictionary articulates that freedom means “the state of being free” and it also says that freedom is being independent. Being independent means that you are no longer somebody else’s project of charity and are able to do things for yourself. This independence means that you are well capable of taking care of yourself. If something goes wrong with you, there is no-one else to be blamed but you. I have been taking a closer look on the freedom of the country and yes changes have been made. The nation is now free from the apartheid cruel ruling and certain aspects in terms of service delivery have improve. But to be frank with you half of the nation is not free. With all the poverty our people are living under to me what is happening in society doesn’t signify freedom. This freedom has brought more sorrows than ecstasy. This freedom is not for all of us but for few individuals who feel they are entitled to every wealth this land has produced. They think that it is only them who deserve because they spent years in prison or their parents suffered for it. Where does this leave the majority that suffered great losses of relatives that were bread winners?
36
Relatives who they don’t know their where abouts, but served this country with all their might. These other people who even today are not written in the books of freedom fighters How will the born frees learn to be more compassionate for the poor and elderly when the “leaders” of this land show no remorse to them. This freedom created gluttonous capitalist who only want to fill their pockets and wallets with wealth, leaving the poor to be poorer. Tell me then where is this freedom? This is not freedom, I believe freedom is yet to come. This is not freedom, we are still like a crawling baby who still needs his mother’s breast milk to live on. We still hunger for service delivery and beg for financial support. If this was freedom things will not be as they are. The poor would be rich in their mind-set and that would be a sign of transformation. Those who are in leadership would understand that the land and wealth belongs to all no matter who fought the most. Leaders should be protecting the image of the nation and that means supporting each and every need the nation has. Freedom is still to come and my kind of freedom is that which every mind and soul will be free from poverty. The kind of freedom that leaves us all equal and proudly South Africans. Freedom is yet to come and be tasted.
