untied Editor’s Note Raising Strong, bold and Wise women

S

tand tall you woman, your inner being is stronger than a rock. Be strong you wise woman, because your wisdom will give birth to a great nation.

Your strength is more than you can imagine, your boldness more than you can ever know. That is because your strength is not situated in a muscle of an organ. That is because you don’t even need treadmills or any other iron-like equipment to acquire fitness. And that is because your strength is built within your spirit, your soul, your being. Take a tissue and wipe out all the issues surrounding your heart. Put on that mascara and cover all those scars with your make-up. Let me remind you, your beauty is not in wearing make-up but in your soul. Do not forget to put on that glittery stiletto, to let the earth know that Royalty has arrived because that is what you are, Royalty. Be fearless, bold and remain in your position. As we celebrate women this month know your worth, know who you are from, know who you belong to. And who you belong to is God and no circumstances can change that. On this month’s issue: we have Prophet Tukwayo cover, and she shares a little bit about being a Godly woman. We profile Tribe Africa a South African clothing brand, see for yourself their awesome collection. We have food, fashion, good laughs, spiritual nourishment and a little bit of everything you will need. Much love Enjoy!

ntied Cover Called to raise Godly women

s

he is a wife, a mother, a leader and a visionary who is adamant to change the world of women one step at a time. Khonziwe Tukwayo a minister of God’s word is also a founder of a Girls interdenominational movement called Talita Cumi. She raises girls to be true women of faith, women who are strong in the Lord and is helping them to explore their full potential in Christ. We had an opportunity to chat with her and get to know more about her and Talita Cumi. Will you please shed some light to us about who Khonziwe Tukwayo is? Who is she and where was she born? Born in the small town of Humansdorp to teenage parents but was never a mistake. I was raised by a single mother because my father was a drunk who never worked a day in his life. Am the firstborn, with three brothers after me. Married for 19 years now with two kids a son and a daughter. I studied to become a teacher until I was called out to business and that season unceremoniously ended and I am now in ministry which is something am navigating everyday, because honestly I miss my old life. What is your strongest personal quality? My strongest quality is honesty, I say it like it is, I don't like it I speak out, I like it am not afraid to complement.

6

Tell me more about Talita Cumi. What is the driving force behind Talita Cumi? Talitha Cumi is something that was dropped on me very unexpectedly, though I must say I have been doing the girls ministry forever. Putting a name to it I guess was about adding structure and form and maybe God was trying to say take this seriously. The driving force behind Talitha Cumi is my love and God's love for young women. Seeing women strong and confident in their power and abilities, knowing that they are more than conquerors real. Has this always been your vision or with

Pictures supplied by Khonziwe Tukayo

each step does the vision increase? Loving girls has always been my thing but I think God is unfolding the vision of Talitha day by day, not expanding it but giving revelation of what's already in the vision. I am excited about "fighting for Tamar, living for Tamar" which is one of the revelations God gave when we had a session for young ladies who have been through the painful misery because of sexual violation.

Your message and walk has transformed many lives. What person or persons played a role in transforming you? Am not sure about my message transforming many lives, I hope so though, but anyway, thanks for that complement. The are a few women that has influenced and played quite a huge role in shaping and making me into what I am today. The first one is my mother, a hardworker who gave me values that still influence my life today. Then it’s my grandmother who would bend over

7

backwards to give me all that I needed and eased the burden on my domestic worker mother. The other woman is my spiritual mother, Prophet Bieky Matshobane, she raised me in ministry, trusted me really, I still can't believe the many times she gave me chance to minister at our national women's conference, and for a long time was the only non pastor in the line ups. My friends, my intercessors, those women have been there through tough times. They would jump and be there within minutes if I needed them, they spend their monies going with me on my ministry missions, they are a treasure. Lastly the girls that I have raised over the years have taught me a lot about myself and have made me the mother I am to the girls I am currently raising. Being a woman of the cloth, how do you handle the weight of the expectations that

accompany that? Hahahahaha, the expectations that come with being a minister, am laughing because of the fact that am a prophet people think I hear God 24/7, so I get a lot of what is God saying? That gets me laughing all the time without fail, though I would gather myself and answer sometimes, but most of the times it ends in my giggles and I would change the topic. What was the best advice you’ve ever received and who gave you that advice? The best advice I received for my life today was that not everybody that comes around you means what they say. Some have come to steal what God has placed on you, some just want to be seen around you therefore discern spirits at all times and never let your guard down. Apostle Methu gave me that wise advice and am living my ministry life by it, not easy for someone like me who genuinely loves people and could potentially trust blindly, now my senses are always up around people.

8

What does being a woman mean to you? Strange that you ask me what being a woman means to me because I just preached a whole message on that this last Saturday in Cape Town. So now you asking me to squeeze that whole message into a line or two reall, let me try. I think being a woman means strength because woman is made from bone Genesis 2:22 therefore she really embodies strength and an unbreakable spirit. Woman means life, she was always alive because she was never earth she was created out of bone that was already alive having received the breath of life from God who had breathed it into Adam. Therefore woman was never ground of the earth but always a living species, so life is all that she knows and life is all that she knows to give and give birth to. Name 3 women that have inspired you throughout your life. Three women that have generally influenced my perspective of life and who I can be. Mama Busisiwe Phefile, she was on TV when I was growing up in my teens, she would speak on marriage, I would sit there and suck it all in and she definitely has played a huge role in my love for the ministry of marriage and my own marriage really. The other woman is Condoleezza Rice, she was Secretary of state in America under President George W Bush. A black woman with that much influence and stature was such an inspiration to me and an embodiment of breakthrough and power. The last one is Paula White, I remember the first time I saw this thin gorgeous woman preach powerfully, wooow it was amazing having seen men preach at that level to see a woman doing it in heels and make up I was liberated, I think she influence me a lot as a woman preacher.

fashion

How Low Is Really Low? The fashion industry giants have dedicated millions to massive PR campaigns, going so far as to launch conscious collections and donate proceeds to worthy causes. Yet despite these efforts, the truth remains, fashion is one of the dirtiest industries in the world. Here’s what they don’t want you to know: The fashion industry is designed to make you feel “out of trend” after one month or week. Back in the day there were two fashion seasons which is Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter. Then when you fast forward to 2018 you would notice that the fashion industry is rolling out plus minus 20 something micro-seasons per year. With new trends coming out every week, the goal of fast fashion is for consumers to buy as many garments as possible, as quickly as possible. According to Elizabeth Cline in her book Overdressed: The Shockingly High Cost of Cheap Fashion, fast-fashion merchandise is typically priced much lower than the competition, operating on a business model of low quality / high volume. With designers creating new looks on a weekly basis, the fashion calendar for these companies is set up to deliberately make the customer feel offtrend after the first wear. Discounts aren’t really discounts. The spendthrift fashionistas love the idea of going into an outlet store and coming out with designer labels at a fraction of the price. Unfortunately, the additional or unsellable items we think we’re buying often have never seen a designer label before. Despite common belief, outlet clothing never enters a regular store and is most likely produced in an entirely different factory than the regular clothing. The reality is that outlets broker deals with designers so they can put designer labels on the cheaply made clothing manufactured in their own low-quality factories.

22

So it is not as if you are buying discounted or out of season merchandise at their stores, you are just buying lower quality range. There is lead and hazardous chemicals on your clothing. According to research other popular fast-fashion chains are still selling lead-contaminated purses, belts and shoes above the legal amount, years after signing a settlement agreeing to limit the use of heavy metals in their products. Lead exposure has also been linked to higher rates of infertility in women and increased risks of heart attacks, strokes and high blood pressure. Many scientists agree there is no safe level of lead exposure for anyone. Clothing is designed to fall apart. Fast fashion giants, such as H&M and Zara, are concerned with the bottom line and the bottom line alone. Their business models are dependent on the consumers’ desire for new clothing to wear, which is instinctive if the clothing falls apart in one wash. Some of these store put a small mark-up on the clothes and earn their profit out of selling an ocean of clothing. Nowadays we throw away over thousands of rands of textiles per year. We’re not talking about clothing being donated to charity shops or sold to second hand stores, this clothing is going directly into landfills. Because most of our clothing today is made with synthetic, petroleum-based fibres, it will take decades for these garments to decompose. So how can you become a more conscious consumer? It starts by educating yourself, buying local, buying less, buying used and buying from independent designers. You can start by joining a growing movement of fashion change makers here.

Fashion Insight

Fashion Reflects Expansion Of Women's Role In Society Fashion is the form of expression and has long been influenced by women's place in society. Gender has long controlled an individual's role in society as it set certain expectations for men and women. For instance , it was not common among women to wear pants until the 1920's when women began to proliferate in the work place. Today it is just common to see women wearing pants in fact women have adopted the traditional menswear of the pantsuit. There is often a misconception that fashion means just clothing. Yet fashion is a whole system of processes that affect all types of cultural phenomena and is put simply, a code or a language that helps people understand the meaning and symbol around these cultural phenomena.

In the fields of sociology and consumer culture there are several models that describes how the meaning is transmitted through the fashion system to the end consumers and women play a major role in that. Women form a big part of the fashion system, not just as people who helps decipher fashion codes (to define what is hot and fashionable now) but also as end consumers themselves. Due to women's close association to fashion, whether that is clothing, shoes, accessories, hairstyles, make-up and cosmetics, even mundane aspects of dress like underwear women simply seem to have more choices than men. Fashion provides the raw material for women to express different aspects of their identity in their everyday lives.

Women are workers, white collar professionals, politician, academics, professional athletes even priests they are also mothers, partners, lovers and as just girls who want to have fun. What causes hair loss

New research reveals that, genetics aside, the next strongest predictor of midline (central) hair loss among women is their marital status, with the loss of a spouse (through either divorce or death) raising the risk for thinning hair above that of married or single women. Most likely, stress is the aspect of a troubling divorce that appears to lead to hair loss among women. Smoking, drinking and hair loss Excessive drinking and/or smoking also appear to boost the risk for hair loss among women, the study found. But in other respects the two genders were affected differently, with various patterns of male hair loss sparked by overexposure to the sun, cancer history and having a "couch potato" lifestyle, among others. In the first study, the authors focused exclusively on a pool of 84 female identical twins, all of whom completed lifestyle questionnaires, followed by hormone blood level testing and an extensive photo analysis of their hair. Across the temporal area of the head, the team found that the more years a woman had smoked the greater the hair loss. A history of skin conditions also contributed to hair loss in that area, while having just a couple drinks per week actually seemed to reduce the risk. Hair loss in the coronal area (nearer the top) of the head among women was linked to being diabetic having some form of skin disease and being a current smoker,

28

while being overweight or obese was associated with lower risk of hair loss. The findings indicate that female hair loss can also be sparked by excessive sleeping patterns, as well as situations commonly associated with stress such as having multiple children and/or getting married. Women who drank coffee, used sun protection (such as a hat) and were happily married all faced a lower overall risk for hair loss, he added. The results: in addition to smoking and sun exposure, having a history of dandruff also boosted midline hair loss risk, while cumulative sun exposure and a history of cancer elevated risk for both temporal and coronal hair loss. Men who didn't exercise regularly and had high blood pressure also had a higher risk for coronal hair loss. Men who exercised outdoors a lot also face a higher risk for hair loss, and sun exposure could play a role there.

S

ometimes it can be so hard to find the career of your dreams. After years of studying and preparing yourself for yourself for the future one would think that it is going to be easy to get a proper job or job in the industry of ones dreams. To be frank, it is not easy but very difficult to acquire a dream job nowadays, and then you are left with few or no options on the job market and end up settling for less. Settling for less would mean applying for jobs below your aspirations, way below than where you have set up your standards. In my opinion there is nothing wrong or disgraceful in getting yourself a job that will help you earn remunerations honestly. But it seems unfair that after doing what is required of you to do (studying), then when you have finished studying and can meet the requirements of the industry you were preparing for only to find out that they (industry) are not ready to receive you (no jobs at all). It is quite daunting if I must say. But in all that do not despair, you will find your way to your dream career. You just need faith and a little push to the right direction. Here are a few sites that will help you realise your dream. You will also get to find out how much you know about yourself and the industry you want to enter.

WHAT DOES A PUBLICIST DO? You’re a strategic thinker, problem solver and, like, the best writer ever. If you’re not a publicist, you should be. Not convinced? Maybe a couple of public relations experts can convince you. Check out what they have to say about the job. You’ll be applying for publicist’s gigs in no time. What exactly does a publicist do? At the most basic level, publicists communicate a business or brand’s messages to the consumers they hope to reach, impact and influence. So the primary function of the role is to work with the brand to decide what those messages will be, how they will be delivered, who will deliver them and how to engage and maintain a conversation with this target group of people and/or the market.

public figures, businesses, films, movies and the like. There is a lot of writing involved: press releases, press kit materials, speeches, media alerts, bios and social media content, you didn’t think your favourite celebs wrote all their own tweets, did you? A publicist also stays busy managing the public image of clients and setting up publicity events such as book signings. Other responsibilities include pitching clients to journalists and influencers, arranging interviews and press conferences, managing crises, developing media lists, and tracking media coverage.

5 Bad Writing Habits You Need to Break Now

Writing has always been a core part of public relations, but with the proliferation of

technology and social media, publicists now spend more than 90 percent of their time writing and/or crafting copy for everything from emails, proposals and pitches, to tweets, social media captions and marketing materials. If you want to succeed in this field, you have to write well. You also need attention to detail. A wrong number or address, for example, can be a big deal. Could you imagine sending out a press release with the wrong contact number or an invite with the wrong address? Oh no! You also need problem-solving skills to manage and avert crises and experience in public relations software such as Cession to help enhance public relations campaigns. What does it take to excel in this position? Being confident while speaking in front of a large group of people is so important. Articulating your thoughts and your client’s story in front of an audience, your co-workers and the media will open many doors, she says.

How can I break into this field? A degree in Public Relations or Journalism is good stuff, but experience is more important than your major. The best route is applying for an internship at a public relations firm in the field you are interested in, if its fashion, look for a designer you would like to work with or for the public relations agency that reps different brands/companies you admire, and apply. Learn to anticipate, navigate and recover from a public relations crises of any size. Public Relations: Crisis Communications course will give you the skills to manage and diffuse critical issues for your company, and coach execs and stakeholders to do the same.

ntied Financial advice What is debt counselling and how does it work?

Many of us cannot live without credit like credit cards, clothing accounts and loans. The availability and use of this credit and a failure to budget sometimes gets out of control consequential in over indebtedness. If a debtor exceeds debt, she/he may apply for Debt Counselling in terms of the National Credit Act. What is Debt Counselling? It is when a debtor applies to our registered Debt Counsellor to request the rescheduling of his/her debt, as s/he is unable to pay all their obligations under all their credit agreements. It gives a debtor who is overcommitted a second chance to repay their debt. Over-indebtedness does not result in the debt being written off, but being restructured. Who can apply for debt review? Only debtors who are natural persons (individuals). Juristic persons (companies) as debtors may NOT apply for Debt Counselling. The debt review process is only available to a debtor who is over-indebted and has an income. Couples who are married in community of property must apply jointly for debt review. Couples who are married out of community of property can apply jointly if they have a joint debt. Pensioners can also apply for debt review as pension is an income. How does the debt review process work? Upon approaching a Legal Counsellor, s/he must determine if the debtor is probably over-indebted. If there is a likelihood of overindebtedness, the matter is referred to our Debt Counselling department. Our Debt Counsellor takes the final decision on whether a debtor is over-indebted –

the Debt Counsellor may agree or disagree with the Legal Counsellor. The Debt Counsellor will decide on 1 of 3 outcomes: The debtor is not over-indebted. The application is rejected where the debtor may go to Magistrate's Court and apply for an order to be declared over-indebted. The debtor is not over-indebted but has problems paying his/her debts punctually. The Debt Counsellor recommends that the debtor and credit providers agree on a plan of debt arrangement. If they reach an agreement, it is filed as a consent order with the National Consumer Tribunal or a Magistrate’s Court. If they do not reach an agreement, the Debt Counsellor makes a recommendation to the Magistrate's Court where the Magistrate's Court can make an appropriate order. The debtor is over-indebted. The Debt Counsellor then recommends the Magistrate's Court to make an appropriate order such as rescheduling the debtor's monthly payments to creditors. The creditors will be notified of this conclusion through a legal notice. This notice will give confirmation of over-indebtedness and the new repayment proposal will be sent to the creditors. It gives the creditors peace of mind that the debtor will keep to the new arrangement to pay each month and not skip or short pay on monthly repayments. This process is finalised as soon as the Magistrate makes the debt review application an Order of Court.

For most people, losing weight is no small task. Dieting takes a lot of motivation and dedication, and can become extremely tiresome. While the best strategy is to follow a healthy diet and to exercise regularly, there are a few extra things you can do to aid you in your weight-loss journey. These tips and tricks have been scientifically tried and tested and, best of all, they are all natural. So before you grab the weight-loss shakes or fat-burning pills, try incorporating these easy and natural tips into your daily life to help you shed excess weight. Stock Up on Green Tea There are several benefits to drinking green tea daily, one of them being weight loss. Most nutritionists recommend 2 to 3 cups of unsweetened green tea daily. Green tea contains several antioxidants that aid your body in flushing out toxins and fats. Scientists have also found that green tea increases your energy expenditure thereby helping to burn fat stores. Avoid Processed Foods Processed foods contain a lot of added sugars and calories. They are specifically designed to make you want more, which leads to overeating While they are amazingly convenient and usually affordable, cutting out processed foods from your diet completely will force you to enjoy the benefits of nutritious foods. Swop your morning cup of coffee for a cup green tea and reap the benefits! Replace Fats with Coconut Oil The list of benefits of coconut oil is almost endless. While most people know that coconut oil is rich in Vitamin E, which is good for your skin and hair, not many people are aware of its fatburning benefits. Coconut oil is high in fats called triglycerides, which are metabolised differently to other fats in your body. Coconut oil has also been proven to help reduce belly fat and to speed up your metabolism. Replace your usual cooking oil with coconut oil to avoid unnecessary fats.

36

Spice Up Your Life It has been scientifically proven that spicy foods can help your body to burn fat. Chilli peppers, green peppers and jalapenos contain the capsaicin compound, which not only boosts your metabolism, but burns fat and helps to reduce your appetite. If you’re not a fan of spicy foods, then try adding just a dash chilli to stews and soups. This will allow you to consume the chilli without tasting the burn.

“GO" We are in the New year, many prophecies have fallen over us about this year and for the few blessed ones about their personal lives as well. Our God is very action oriented, He casts a vision and expects us to action or rather takes some steps towards His words. Therefore our God is a God of "GO". ISAIAH 43: 2 " When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and when you pass through the rivers they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned, the flames will not set you ablaze." It is amazing that even in the worst of your times the Lord expects you to "GO" He says "pass through" , even if the water wants to swallow you up,

but the Lord say pass, don't stop, swim through, fight, bop in and out of the water but pass through. He says "walk through" the fire, with the smoke choking you but fumble your way and walk through, with your vision blurred but walk through, with pain everywhere if you stay in the fire it might spell the end of you, the Lord says walk DEUTERONOMY 1:6-7 "The Lord our God said to us at Horeb, You have stayed long enough at this mountain. Break camp and advance into the hill country of the Amorites, go to all the neighboring peoples in the Arabah, in the mountains, in the western foothills, in the Negev and along the coast, to the land of Canaanites and to Lebanon as far as the great river Euphrates " There is something about a human that loves comfort in stagnation. The Israelites had clear instruction of going to Canaan but somehow they are comfortable around the mountain, which was a delay and in essence non achievement of their goals and the prophetic word upon them. The Lord once more actions them, He speaks of "staying long enough" in a place which is not your destiny. He tells them to "advance", yes the Lord is about advancement of your life, He is not about camping in one place no matter how comfortable it may seem. He says " GO" you have territories to conquer and does not promise its gonna be easy. He speaks of mountains, foothills, coasts, yes obstacles to overcome, but every obstacle you conquer takes you closer to your destiny. Therefore in 2018 the Lord commands you "GO" God bless you.
