She is funny, beautiful, friendly and with a heart of Gold. Sisanda Mbali is a young Fashion Designer from EL. She breathes Fashion, eats Fashion. We get to know this beautiful a little bit better. Please tell me about yourself. Where you are from. And educational background. I'm a friendly person who enjoys being around people. I don't care if I don't know u I will come up to u and start a conversation lol‌ I love Nature or anything that’s created by God. I was Born and bred in East London. From high school I went straight to college coz my parents discovered that I was talented and I did clothing production there. I decided to further my qualifications and do fashion designing because I wanted to understand more what was fashion about besides sewing and cutting fabric

When did you realise that you wanted to be a fashion designer? I realised when I used to change my clothes into something completely different and stylish than it was before. Then I thought I should go for it. What is it that you love about fashion? What I love about Fashion is you get to be creative in garments, you play around with fabric. I love being creative. Would you say that fashion was your first love? Yes it was my first love. I don't recall wanting to study something else besides Fashion

6

. Is there anyone that you look up to in the fashion industry? Yes I have a couple of Fashion icons I look up to. Locally David Tlale, Thula Sindi and Get Coetzee Johan.

Dou you feel like your educational background prepared you for this tough industry? I think the lecturer I had somehow prepared me because it wasn't just easy to finish my diploma. I feel he kind of delayed me to finish in record time but when I finished my diploma I felt ready and life somehow become easy to tackle and I had already build up my clientele.

7

What is more rewarding about your job? Lol… besides being paid, it is to see a client happy some even cry. One become so happy when u know u being appreciated by what u do. What are your long term goal? Long terms goals…mmmh I would love to work in the Fashion industry and understand it more. Learn more tricks hopefully God has made a plan for the future, Lol… But for now I will keep doing what I love and that is designing clothes and making people look beautiful. What is your motto in life? Believe in yourself and let God lead you.

u Autonomy for labourers ntied

On 1 May, South Africa celebrates Worker's Day. Worker's Day rejoices the role played by Trade Unions, the Communist Party and other labour movements in the struggle against Apartheid. May Day refers to numerous collectivist and labour movement celebrations conducted on 1 May. May Day was born from the industrial struggle for an eight-hour day. International working classes have existed since the development of agriculture, years ago. Slaves, trades people and others were forced to turn over the fruits of their labour to an exploiting class. Men, women and children forced to work long hours in miserable conditions just to make a living.Women and children were only granted a ten-hour day in 1847. French worker's demand for a 12-hour day was granted after the February revolution of 1848.

In the United States, where May Day was born, Philadelphia carpenters campaigned for a ten-hour day in 1791. Five years later, in 1889 over 400 delegates met in Paris on the 100th anniversary of the French revolution at the Marxist International Socialist Congress. The congress passed a resolution calling for an international demonstration to campaign for an eight-hour day. It was resolved to hold the demonstration on 1 May 1890 in keeping with the American Federation of Labour's 1886 demonstrations of 1 May. Ironically, while May Day gained momentum across the world it lost steam in the United States where the celebration originated. Today May Day is celebrated as a public holiday throughout most countries with the exception of the United States, because of the holiday's association with Communism. Mayday has been celebrated unofficially in South Africa since the 1980s. However, 1 May only became an officially recognised public holiday after the democratic elections of 1994. To all workers out there: Untied magazine declare everyday workers day because of everyday hard work

Young entrepreneur from the dusty streets of PE Sinethemba Maxengana is a young entrepreneur from Veeplas, Port Elizabeth. He owns a production company, Cnehope productions. We chat to this young man to find out more about him, his business and his Kasi Q: Who is Sinethemba Maxengana?

A: Sinethemba Maxengana was born and bred in Veeplas Port Elizabeth. In a large family, I have four brothers and three sisters. In our culture as Xhosa’s we were always taught that whoever you grew up with living in the same house is your sibling. We grew up in an environment where there is also grandmother so we all regard her as mother. I grew up without my father, I just recently met with him. The person I regarded as my father is my late grandfather. After high school I went to volunteer at Doxa, an organisation that is fashioned to develop the youth. I volunteered for a year then they employed me as one of their family care workers and youth coach and mentor. I am a very friendly person who loves to see others do something better with their lives and succeed in life. And to see a young person who wants to change their situation especially here in Veeplas because there is no motivation for the youth and there is a lot of crime. Someone who is tired of poverty and wants change. I did courses at Doxa for counselling, I took that course twice.

9

Q: So now counselling is in your blood I see. This means you are an expert now.

A: So I also took other short course. Q: How was growing up in Veeplas like for Sinethemba? Especially growing up without your father. Yes your grandfather played a role of being father to you but I don’t think it’s quite the same. As you have mentioned how the situation in Veeplas is like.

A: As I have said that in Veeplas there is a lot of crime. On growing without my father; firstly when I was growing up I thought that my grandfather was my father. At the same time I had my other uncle who also played a role of being a father after my grandfather died. Life was a bit difficult, you had to make tough decisions most of the time. There would be people you would sacrifice not to be their friends even though you liked them and you thought that they are cool. You had to choose friends, but most of the time my grandmother would choose them for me.

untied

Q: You mentioned that you worked at

A: I was looking for a name that will connect

Doxa and we have an idea of what Doxa is all about. When you were at Doxa what did you learn about you and the society at large?

me with my clients not something that will only focus on my needs and wants. Now I noticed that my name does that, which means now it’s not only me who has hope also my clients do. This means we have hope for the better future, by capturing good memories and fighting for the future.

A: When I started at Doxa I just finished high school and I was a young man with a low self-esteem. Working there changed me a lot. This is because before going out to work I was taught and trained, so that I may be ready for the work. I was shown how everything works and how to interact with an audience up until I was ready for the work. For me it was all coming from the heart because of the personal experiences I had and I know that most of the children that go to school do go to school because they were told to, there is nothing pushing them to go to school. They do not have a reason that motivates them, which means they haven’t identified their purpose.

Q: So you left Doxa to start a business, from counselling people to camera and action. How is that process like, shifting from something different to what you are starting now?

A: Yes it’s different but, photography is what I was doing before Doxa. My late uncle taught me how to take a picture. Every time when there is a function at home, be it a birth day party or anything we used to take pictures and take video footages of those events. Back then editing was done in a very weird way, not this easy method we use now. Then at Doxa they are preaching Vukuzenzele (do it yourself) kind of thing, which is why I was even motivated to start taking pictures again.

Q: Your name is Sinethemba Maxengana and you named your company CneHope. Why didn’t you choose another name, why CneHope?

Q: It hasn’t been long since you started the business I know, well you were working but you didn’t have a working space whereby clients will find you.

A: at the beginning it was not a business, I would capture picture for someone for free and they would give what they felt they could give me.

Q: What makes you want to get going, that thing which gives you hope.

A: I won’t lie, I made a decision that my baby and my sister will not live the way that I lived, they will have a better future. Besides video capturing and photography I also have printing on my services of which they are under Waroom which is the umbrella company that will soon produce other babies besides CneHope. So I know that there are people who need to print or type their CV’s, they need jobs.

Q: I am very curious to find out more about Waroom. Can you please explain to me how the Waroom thing started? What is the idea behind, because now we are talking about war?

A: You know the problem is poverty (giggles). There is a movie that I love so much by the name of waroom, which is where the name is coming from. The film is about a woman fighting for her husband in prayer, fighting for her marriage she was using wardrobe.

10

There are not many printing business here around Veeplas, it is someone who is doing it in their homes but not full time tat provide the community with printing services. I named it Waroom because we are here to fight. Taking a step to print your CV means that you are fighting unemployment, which means you have come to the right place because I am here to meet you half way. We are not only fighting against poverty but also fighting drugs, young people will come here when they need to create CV’s they will not wonder where they can go. We also help you in prayer because we believe that we don’t fight with blood and flesh but there are spirits behind.

Q: We do not fight against blood and flesh indeed! In Five years to come where do you see Waroom and CneHope? A: Give me just five years, I want to see my baby in Greenacres. Being run as a big production company that prints almost everything you want to pint. I want to see it in every mall.

“We also help you in prayer because we believe that we don’t fight with blood and flesh but there are spirits behind.” 11

untied Difference between fashion and style On our stages lately we were graced with the autumn collections.Johannesburg had their Mercedes-Benz fashion week and Cape Town hosted the SA fashion week. With all that beauty I saw on ramps it got me thinking that there's actually a very big difference between being fashionable and being stylish. As the designer myself who also studied fashion designing I also came up with the little understanding of the difference I usually see on daily basis life. Fashion and style are two words that can effectively explain the who, what, when, where and why a proper clothing application. Yet they are used as synonyms and misinterpreted on daily basis. I refer to fashion as what is currently on trend right now, what is featured on TV, magazines and fashion runways. It is very versatile. Fashionable things tend to go out of fashion by the next year, next week or even next month. Fashion is ephemeral. It is the flavour of the day, and useful for refuelling your style inspiration when you feel you have run out of gas. Fashion may be the most democratic of all art forms, because we’ll have to go through the ritual of dressing ourselves every day and it’s mostly easy to apply because it’s all surface Fashionable people are those who follow fashion without any regard to whether the fashion actually suits them or not. Nevertheless, there are also stylish people who are not considered fashionable, this is mainly because while what they are wearing is stylish and shows off their body and personality, what they wearing may or may not be currently in fashion.

17

These two words are commonly thrown around these days, however many people find it difficult to distinguish the two. It is hard to define because it can't be explained, but seen, heard and experienced. I always say style is way of life- style goes beyond the body; it’s the clothes you wear, your facial hair, the food you eat, the movies you watch, computers, phones, cars houses all of those are part of the fashion and lead into one's sense of style.

As for me I never really got fashion. My style or what I have of one, was limited by what was available around me. Over the years I figured out what works for me and always stick to it. I do unorthodox things, not many women are running around with just blue jeans on daily basis but I’m in one when I leave the house more often than not. In every season I always end up with a pair of white converse all-stars wear them, out and get another pair or two, so that I’m set with those for a while, and I’ll wear them with everything I own in my closet including a little black dress. I believe style blurs the lines of the class system. It makes it harder for the rich, poor and middle-class to know who is who. Style is the attitude and personality....... Fashion on the other hand divides the classes and puts the rich above every day. It gives them an attitude of superiority, but having money doesn't mean you have style and that is why style is so important, can help make you successful... Fashion can just keep you in the same place. The truth is we all born with inner voice that serves as our personal style guiding light. People with style dress with harmony with their inner most authentic selves.

After a long day at work there is nothing you could want more than a spare hour just for relaxation. Before doing anything, be it you making yourself coffee or making dinner you have to relax a bit and pamper yourself. Well if you don’t mind cooking before relaxing that is fine, you will sleep like a baby. Here are few tips that could help you soothe your stiffness. Lemon juice: Squeeze 5 to 6 drops into your running bath warm water. Slid through the bath tub and stay in for 20 minutes. This will live your skin relieved from tiredness and it will help tighten large pores Lavender oil: Soaking in a relaxing bath will help relieve tension knots that was build up over the course of a long stressful day. Run yourself a hot tub and pour just few drops of Lavender oil in the water. That alone will live you relax, rejuvenated and revived.

Honey: Pour a cup of honey into your bath while it's filling up, mixed it with powdered milk in your bath water. This will moisturize, soften and smooth dry skin and will leave you skin silky and soft.

21

untied Epsom: Soaking your feet in a warm Epsom salt bath can significantly reduce pain and swelling, especially if the pain is caused by muscle tension. The magnesium in the salt helps the muscles relax. Don't make the water too hot and don't soak in the bath for much more than 30 minutes because the salty water will pull fluid from your body and start to dehydrate you. Foot massage: Get a massage therapist to give you a foot and calf massage. Massage reduces muscle tension and inflammation, helps break down scar tissue and promotes better blood flow. Ask the therapist to use peppermint oil or cream on your feet because it will make them tingle and feel invigorating. Always drink lots of water immediately following a massage in order to flush out inflammatory by-products, lactic acid, and toxins from your body. Failure to do so might cause a headache or mild nausea.

How to care for your hair this winter 2. Control Frizz

Winter has already set in. While it is time to thank the stars for putting an end to all the sun damage that your hair was being put through, it is also time to start planning a hair care routine that is fit for winter. Summer might be gone, taking its troubles with it, but winter means a whole new set of problems that you need to deal with. While the season is perfect to get comfortable with a cup of hot cocoa, you can’t ignore the fact that the dry and dreary weather can wreak havoc on your hair if the right precautions aren’t taken. Your hair starts to find it harder to retain moisture, making it brittle and prone to breaking and damage, not to mention the frizz and static that often comes with your winter wardrobe. However, these are all problems that can be avoided with ease as long as you have the right hair care routine for winter. Hair care Tips For Winter 1. Fight The Flakes Your scalp is drier and itchier than ever during the winter months because of the lack of moisture in the air. This leads to issues like dandruff and aggravated scalp irritation, which can lead to hair fall. What most people don’t realize is that the dandruff problem can be super manageable with the right care. All you will need is a couple of tablespoons of olive or coconut oil and a teaspoon of lemon juice. Heat the oil for a couple of seconds until it is warm and then mix it with the lemon juice. Massage the oil into your scalp and leave it in for 20-30 minutes. Rinse it out with shampoo and condition.

One of the most annoying things about winter is all of the static. The hoodies, sweater, scarves, gloves, and beanies all seem to gang up on your hair, making it a static, frizzy mess. To tackle this, use a vented hair brush that has a combination of plastic and boar bristles while combing your hair. Wash your hair only with lukewarm water, not hot water, as the latter will strip away the natural oils that protect and nourish your hair. Apply a leave-in conditioner to keep your hair smooth. 3. Shine And Bounce

The lack of moisture in winter not only dries out your scalp and makes your hair frizzy, but also leaves your hair looking dull and lifeless. Brush or comb out your hair with a wide-toothed wooden comb to remove tangles and apply raw honey to the length of your hair from the roots to the tips. Cover up your hair with a shower cap or towel and leave it on for about 30 minutes. Wash off with lukewarm water. Honey is a humectant that seals in the moisture and helps restore shine and bounce to dull and damaged hair. 4. Olive Oil For Maintaining Hair Health

Warm up two teaspoons of olive oil and massage it slowly on your scalp. This slow massaging helps the oil penetrate deep into the roots. This will help to keep your scalp moisturized and improve blood circulation, ensuring that your follicles get enough nourishment. It will also prevent hair fall. Optionally, you can use a few tablespoons of the oil to coat the entire length of your hair as a deep conditioning treatment.

23

5. Drying Your Hair: Do It Right

Drying your hair out completely can be a pain, especially if you have long hair. But you should never, I repeat, never put your hair up while it is still damp. Damn hair and scalps attract a lot of problems like dandruff, breakage, and split ends. You must also never rub your hair dry with a towel as the friction will cause damage. The best way to dry your hair would be to gently squeeze the excess moisture out with a towel and then use a blow dryer on the cool setting. If you are using hot air to speed things up, ensure that you are holding the dryer at least 15 centimeters away from your hair. 6. Conditioning: Do It Right

Your hair needs all the moisture it can get during winter, and this makes conditioning a vital part of your hair care routine. Using hair oils and deep conditioning packs at least once a week becomes vital for maintaining the health of your hair. It is important that you end every wash with a conditioner. Shampoo your hair and then rinse it thoroughly. Once all the lather has been rinsed out, start applying the conditioner from the mid-lengths to the ends of your hair. Concentrate on the ends as they are the oldest and most damaged parts of your hair. Leave the conditioner in for a few minutes and then rinse it out with cool or lukewarm water. It is advised to end a wash with cool water as this will seal in the moisture and leave your hair feeling smooth and looking lustrous. Make these tips a part of your hair care routine and your hair won’t even notice that winter is here. A little extra care can go a long way when it comes to ensuring hair health. Try out these tips and tell us about your experience in the comments section below.

untied Your fashion sense speaks volumes Currently we are living in the decade where there is a lot of communication going on. I am one of those who have been privileged to know and understand that it is not only the sound making items that speaks but also items that have no ability to speak in the “human point of view”. I don’t think some of us do understand that, everyday our fashion choices and personal style send specific messages about us. It has been proven quite a number of times, firstly by those who are close to us, secondly on the streets, thirdly at school and lastly in the work place. Some of us wear certain fashion because other people in our groups wear them, which is a rather peculiar impression when we take a moment to ponder it. We follow trends that somebody in the fashion industry sets for the season and we hurry to the store to keep up with the times.

There minute you enter the reception area, they will think twice before they hire you. Your attire may be cool and hip but that is all there is to it, cool and hip. Though you may be the suitable candidate for the position you are applying for, chances are your CV will be shoved under a pile of old documents or in the dust bin. As cute as you may be, fact remains that at the office you ought to be decent and professional. Your outfit may be trending but in the corporate world it tells people something else about you. A blazer and skirt makes a different statement than a worn-out pair of black jeans.

Not everyone is so keen about these set trends some follow fashion shrewdly, picking and choosing the pieces they like, and this works out for them. They create their own style and there are certain beings that are even able to create their own trends using their own creativity. Other people refuse to follow it entirely and conform to the counterculture, which is still technically a form of conforming. Pause for a second and evaluate the outfit you are wearing right now. Your clothes and personal style speak dimensions of sizes about you. Sometimes your appearance says more than the words you say, especially to those who do not know you. For an example you can’t go to an interview wearing a pink miniskirt with a leopard printed crop top.

Formal and casual look

25

Our personal style speaks of our identity, our characters and informs those around us about the varied “societies” we belong to. Some of us belong to the corporate tribe of business managers, while others fall in with freespirited artists. If you take a good look at everyone around you their clothing items will tell you a lot about them. Go to the streets where prostitutes stand and wait for clients wearing a skimpy top with a very short skirt, and see if you will be left alone or be approached by potential clients.

Go to the bank wearing a suit and a tie and see what kind of attention will you be fishing. Whatever your style may be truth remains, it communicates. It says more than enough before you even introduce yourself.

26

Well, where do we fit in? There’s two philosophies out about how fashion is incorporated in our daily lives. The trickle-down effect explains how styles originate with designers and celebrities, before they slowly make their way down to us “commoners,” as explained flawlessly by Meryl Streep who plays Miranda Priestly in The Devil Wears Prada By: Introvet.com

Financial advice

Money - How You Spend Your Money Wisely Do you have problem with your money spend? Spending problem often faced by almost everyone in every age, because they usually spend their money for some personal stuff like magazine, entertainment, and clothes. Young people also liked to spend their money for a temporary pleasures like watching movies in cinema, and eating out. Do you know how to overcome this problem? Here is some methods that you can use to spend your money wisely.

First, you must come with a budget. You need to track all your spending for a few months so that you can work on your budget knowing where your money is going. you need to make a list of your monthly expenses for example using your bills and the information you gather. Review this list to determine where you can reduce expenses and by how much.

Learning how to save money is an important preparation for your financial future. While saving money may not seem to be an easy thing to do, establishing short term goals as well as long term ones makes the results seem more achievable. Establishing a savings routine takes determination and dedication, but may be accomplished in part by changing daily routines.

Second method is how you spend money on your clothing. People these day like to spend their money buying expensive clothes that have style and name brand like Jimmy Choo, Channel and many more.

What you need to do is figured out what you need, the importance of the item to have quality and the thing that are not. For example, it is unwise to spend too much money on socks because it worn out very quickly. Buy a hundred dollar jeans that last for 6 years is worth than buying a twenty dollar jeans that only last for 1 year.

Third, is how you spend your money on food and beverages? What you need to do is you should make a shopping list of healthy foods that your body need and avoid adding sweet and snacks in your list because it’s not good for your body. Extra-Long Sleeves Who needs cold-weather accessories when your sleeves extend past your fingers? extra-long sleeves are the perfect alternative to gloves. No more fumbling when you receive an incoming call—all you have to do is wiggle out your hand!

Platform Boots Keep your feet high and dry with '90s inspired platforms. These cheetah boots would make the Spice Girls proud, while patent leather versions can handle stomping through slushy streets.

Patent Trench Coats Navy Overcoats Last winter, we were obsessed with the camel coat. It was an easy piece that matched denim, evening wear, and everything in between. And though we're still in love with them, we think the neutral-outerwear has met its match with this season's Navy-inspired overcoat. As seen at Coach, the goldbuttoned coat is just as versatile, but a bit more dramatic.

For unseasonably warm winter days (too cold for a jacket, too hot for a wool coat), A patent trench will offer you more warmth than its lightweight counterpart, without causing you to overheat.

Leggings Phoebe Philo shocked everyone last season by introducing something we thought was dead and gone: the legging. Stretchy pant were styled under dresses and skirts proving it's about time we embraced the cosy look.

The nation of Israel was facing a very fierce enemy of the Babylonians, the Lord in HABAKKUK 1:6 says when He speaks of them "I am raising up the Babylonians, that ruthless and impetuous people, who sweep across the whole earth to seize dwelling places not their own." That is the amount of evil and oppression that Habakkuk and the nation were faced with at the time. It was miserable and painful on all sides. The Lord was angry with them and in order to punish them He had unleashed these merciless people against them. Habakkuk looks at all this evil and begs the Lord to be merciful to them in all His wrath. The prophet says "I have heard of your fame". Meaning that, Lord it is not the first time that you have given this nation into the hands of enemies. Or it is not the first time that a nation has attacked this nation of Israel, but Lord we have heard of how you have saved this nation with splendid deeds that have made you famous. The prophet goes on to ask the Lord "renew them in our day, in our time make them known." Prophet Habakkuk sounds more like the church today. We have also heard of the signs and wonders that Jesus did while He walked on earth, but it is every believer's question as to why are we unable to perform the miracles Jesus did? It is worse for us that Jesus promised us in the book of MARK 16:17-18 "And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons,

"Lord I have heard of your fame; I stand in awe of your deeds, O Lord. Renew them in our day, in our time make them known; in wrath remember mercy. " HABAKKUK 3:2. they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well." If Jesus promised us all these things, what then went wrong? Why are believers dying in our churches? Why can’t believers who visit someone laying in hospital lay hands to the sick and live? Like Habakkuk the church of today is screaming, ‘Jesus we have heard of your fame; and stand in awe of your deeds. O Lord, renew them in our day’. I love what the prophet Habakkuk says at the end; in HABAKKUK 3:17-18, " Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crops fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Saviour." I think this is a very important lesson for the church, that even if we don't heal one person and don't understand why. Even if our own bodies are riddled with sickness and disease and have done all prayer and fasting, but we must rejoice in the Lord always. He is our Saviour, our Keeper, our righteousness and nothing must ever take that away from us. But stop questioning Him? I think just like prophet Habakkuk this generation desires to know and walk in the deeds that our Lord had guaranteed us we can do, it is our portion.

Ses top la This is our top sitcom this month. What a funny show it is, it gives me stiches every time. The creator of the show is the well-known man who acts, directs and produces Mandla N. The sitcom is about a couple that has moved to Sandton and they recently had a baby named Junior. Themba and Phumzile and their friends always have something for us every day. They have a new maid Nobuhle, who is played by the very funny Khanyisa Bunu. Themba and Phumzile brings us lots of fun stuff to watch and you can never get bored with those two and their friends. Oh and also Phumzile’s gay friend Thoko Channel, he or she will give you loads of fashion tips with a twist.
