I remember it all began on a Saturday morning, l went into the wash-room and l was foaming, and foaming. My father came and called 911. The ambulance came and they rushed me to the hospital. They took scans and blood work to see what was going on, they saw that l had pneumonia and that my lungs were slowly collapsing. I was taken to the ICU where they fully sedated me, put me on the ventilator and life support. When l woke up the next day, I noticed l was on restraints. I was like, “Mhamha (mom) what’s going on?”. She said “Nyasha everything is going to be ok,” but l knew things were not ok... Grab your copy of The Grace Chapter “Conquering the storm with a joyful dance.”

Christianity By Evangelist Herbert Kudzai Mubaiwa

B

lessed be the Lord God almighty who has loved us before the world was created .....I also want to thank Apostle Kudzie and his wife Prophetess Dorcas for giving me this rare opportunity to write articles in this magazine...

people that we are Christians, the life of Christ in us should announce us that we are Christians. We don’t need anyone to tell us that someone is a Buddhist or a monk, just by observing the way they live and life style that alone should tell us.

This month I just want to share on the difference between A Christian and a believer...A lot of people don’t really know that there is a big difference between a Christian and a believer ...

Christianity is the character of Christ in us, meaning it must seen by how we talk, how we behave, and how we treat people around us. We need to study more on the life of Christ, that will help us shape our life styles into Christians.

Let’s first of all learn what it means to be a Christian and where that word came from .The term Christians was first used in Antioch, the capital of the Roman province of Syria (now within the region of Antakya, Turkey) “And the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch” (Acts 11:26). Christianity is a way of living, a lifestyle. These people where called Christians because they lived like Christ, they walked like Christ. We have a lot of people who call themselves Christians yet they are no where near to being identified as Christians . One doesn’t get called “a Christian” simply because he/she go to church or because was raised by Christian parents ..no that doesn’t make one a Christian. A person becomes a Christian because the life of Christ reflects in them .We don’t even need to tell

38

“How do you become a Christian when you don’t even know the life of Christ? You can’t become a Rastafarian if you don’t know the life of Haile Selassie .You can’t be a Monk if you don’t know anything about Buddha..same applies to Christianity, the first thing you need to learn is the life of Christ.” HOW DOES A PERSON BECOME A CHRISTIAN? In order for a person to become a Christian ,he or she must go through some stages, namely salvation , healing, deliverance, and discipleship respectively.

The first step is to receive Christ as your personal Saviour or to be born again. John 3:3 Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.”

You can’t be a Christian until you are born again , you have to accept and acknowledge Christ in your heart and confess with you mouth that Jesus is Lord, Romans 10:17. The second step is to do through healing ,get healed from the past hurts ,disappointments etc. It’s impossible to just jump into the life of Christ without going through healing or deliverance. You have to walk a journey of breaking or killing the old self. That’s why even apostle Paul had to take time staying by himself studying and crucifying the old man. In Galatians 1:17, Paul claims he did not go to Jerusalem immediately, but rather he went to Arabia for a period of time before returning to Damascus.

Your Zimbabwean Canadian Community Magazine

and that in your name,” and Christ said “go where you used to do your works.” The thief on the Cross was not a Christian but he was a believer. You can’t call someone a Christian who never lived the life of Christ. Lastly let me say this, we are called to make disciples of all nations, Matthew 28:19-20. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

We are not only called to make converts, or believers; rather God is looking for disciples, who will live the life of Christ, reflect Christ, and Preach Christ. God bless you Evangelist K.H.M

Once you go through healing and deliverance , then eventually you will because a disciple of Christ. Being a disciple is not easy because it involves the death of your past life, it involves discipline. It is during that stage that people are seeing the life of Christ in you because you will be living like Christ. Some folks think they are Christians because they received Christ In Their hearts. Let me be very clear, receiving Christ does not make you live like Christ. There are a lot of prostitutes who have received Christ but they don’t live the life of Christ , there are a lot of thieves who have received Christ but their life style is not the life style of Christ . Receiving Christ only makes you to be born again . Will you go to heaven if you are born again? Absolutely you will go to heaven. Being born again makes you to qualify to be called a believer. You are a believer because you believed. He who believes and baptised... You can be a believer without living the life of Christ. There are many believers who will go to hell for sure, because of their life style. Believing does not mean one has automatically made it to heaven . We shall be judged according to our works as well . Remember those people who where sent to hell and they were now saying to Christ “we used to do this

Introduction to Stocks?

A

stock is a type of investment that represents an ownership share in a company. Investors buy stocks that they think will go up in value over time. A stock is an investment. When you purchase a company’s stock, you’re purchasing a small piece of that company, called a share. Investors purchase stocks in companies they think will go up in value. If that happens, the company’s stock increases in value as well. The stock can then be sold for a profit.

Definition: What are stocks? Stocks are securities that represent an ownership share in a company. For companies, issuing stock is a way to raise money to grow and invest in their business. For investors, stocks are a way to grow their money and outpace inflation over time. When you own stock in a company, you are called a shareholder because you share in the company’s profits. Public companies sell their stock through a stock market exchange, like the Nasdaq or the New York Stock Exchange. (Here’s more about the basics of the stock market.) Investors can then buy and sell these shares among themselves through stockbrokers. The stock exchanges track the supply and demand of each company’s stock, which directly affects the stock’s price.Stock prices fluctuate throughout the day, but investors who own stock hope that over time, the stock will increase in value. Not every company or stock does so, however: Companies can lose value or go out of business completely. When that happens, stock investors may lose all or part of their investment. That’s why it’s important for investors to spread their money around,

You can buy individual stocks through an online broker. The process of opening a brokerage account is similar to opening a bank account. The commissions charged by online brokers for stock trades vary, so it’s important to shop around. Below are some of NerdWallet’s picks for the best brokers for stock investors:

Investing in individual stocks takes time. You should research each stock you purchase, which includes a deep dive into the bones of the company and its financials. Many investors opt to save time by investing in stocks through equity mutual funds, index funds and ETFs instead. These allow you to purchase many stocks in a single transaction, offering instant diversification and reducing the amount of legwork it takes to invest.

We need leaders and visionaries at all levels. Kim grew up and schooled in the United States of America and moved to Canada in 2007. Kim is the visionary behind the low cost, high FX rate and community driven money transfer service that will be launched in April 2020 out of Canada. As a little girl from the dirty streets of Harare, Zimbabwe; Kim experienced the luxury of receiving remit money from her sister in the USA. This money changed her life; family members were sent to school, food was on the table, mom’s insulin was bought, ticket to come to USA was secured, poverty was escaped and the entire family was thriving. When she came to the USA, Kim followed suit and regularly sent money to mom to pay for day-to-day necessities. It came very clear to Kim that the cost of sending remit funds to family was just too high and could not keep up anymore. As a way to help our migrant communities, our money transfer solution will significantly help our customers to send more money to family in Africa and beyond while paying less out of their pockets. We understand that the current remit solutions are too expensive and folks are looking for options and ways to save money. ZIMBABWE & CANADA’S

Staple Foods “National Cuisines”

ational diets create part of a coutry’s and regions culture. A national dish is a culinary dish that is strongly associated with a particular country. A dish becomes national for various reasons like; • It is a staple food, made from a selection of locally available foodstuffs that can be prepared in a distinctive way • It contains a particular ‘exotic’ ingredient that is produced locally, • It is served as a festive culinary tradition that forms part of a cultural heritage • It has been promoted as a national dish, by the country itself,

CANADA’S NATIONAL DISH (POUTINE) Known as Canada’s national dish, poutine is a French-Canadian meal featuring three ingredients: fries, cheese curds, and gravy. Created in the 1950s in Quebec, the dish can be found everywhere today. Many eateries even serve their traditional poutine with additional flavors, such as butter chicken or pulled pork

ZIMBABWEAS DISH (SADZA)

Though bread and rice are eaten in Zimbabwe, maize/corn remains the staple food. And as starches go, Zimbabwe’s national carb is sadza. Made from cornmeal, it accompanies just about every meal, breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

SADZA

WHAT YOU MAY NOT KNOW ABOUT OUR STAPLE MEAL

S

adza is a type of maize powder/flour porridge made in Africa. It is also known by other names depending with the region. Sadza is sometimes made from other flours, such as millet or sorghum flour, and is sometimes mixed with cassava flour. It is cooked in boiling water or milk until it reaches a stiff or firm dough-like consistency.

HOW TO EAT SADZA

Sadza (when it is cooked as porridge, it is called Bota) is usually served for breakfast. The traditional method of eating sadza (and the most common in the rural areas) is to roll a lump into a ball with the right hand, and then dip it into a sauce or stew of vegetables or meat. Making a depression with the thumb allows the sadza to be used to scoop, and to wrap around pieces of meat to pick them up in the same way that flatbread is used in other cultures. Leftover sadza can also be eaten with tea the following morning. It can also be used to make a fermented african drink called “Mahewu”.Sadza is relatively inexpensive and thus easily accessible to the poor, who usually combine it with a meat or vegetable stew

ORIGINS & HISTORY OF OUR STAPLE FOOD, MAIZE Maize was introduced to Africa from the Americas between the 16th and 17th century. Before this, sorghum and millet were the staple cereals in most of Sub-Saharan Africa. Maize was readily accepted by African farmers as its cultivation was very similar to that of sorghum but with significantly higher yields. Eventually, maize displaced sorghum as the primary cereal in all but the drier regions. The full replacement of these crops with maize took place in the latter half of the twentieth century.[13] In Malawi, they have a saying ‘chimanga ndi moyo’ which translates to ‘maize is life’.[14] Nshima/nsima is still sometimes made from sorghum flour though it is quite uncommon to find this. Cassava, which was also introduced from the Americas, can also be used to make nshima/ nsima, either exclusively or mixed with maize flour. In Malawi nsima made from cassava (chinangwa) is localized to the lakeshore areas, however, when maize harvests are poor, cassava nsima can be found all over the country.

[citation needed] Sadza is made with finely ground dry maize/ corn maize (Mealie-Meal). This maize meal is referred to as hupfu in Shona or impuphu in Ndebele. Despite the fact that maize is an imported food crop to Zimbabwe (c. 1890), it has become the chief source of carbohydrate and the most popular meal for indigenous people. Locals either purchase the mealie meal in retail outlets or produce it

However, during times of famine or hardship, they resorted to eating yellow maize meal, which is sometimes called “Kenya,” because it was once imported from that nation. Before the introduction of maize, sadza was made from zviyo finger millet. Sadza is typically served on individual plates, but traditionally sadza was eaten from a communal bowl, a tradition that is still maintained by some families mainly in the rural areas. It is generally eaten with the right hand without the aid of cutlery; often rolled into a ball before being dipped into a variety of condiments such as sauce/gravy, sour milk, or stewed vegetables.[17] Notable foods eaten with sadza include: Meat is known as nyama in Shona. TRAUMA AND MENTAL HEALTH

D

ealing with stress after a traumatic event can be one of the most life changing experiences one can go through. While there’s a broad range of events that can be traumatic, not everyone gets traumatized by the same events because some people are more resilient than others when it comes to dealing with stress. When one goes through an ove whelming amount of stress to the point that they can't cope with the stress, the result can be psychological trauma. The events themselves are not the trauma, but the damage to one's mind they experience trying to cope with what they have gone through. The inability to regulate emotions may result following a distressing event. For example; one may become disoriented after going through a breakup that was a result of infidelity because they're trying to make sense of what was a facade and what was real in their relationship. This disorientation can lead to detachment from people and emotions because when one starts to question the past they can get to a point of losing their sense of self. In my experience the African community has a different approach to traumatic events. The general rule seems to be "time heals everything." There seems to be an expectation that one will just go back to being the same person after "some" time has passed by. While time can make the pain more bearable, one's personality can be altered

One Journey.

o you feel like you cannot go on with your life? Do you feel like it is the end of the road for you? Do you feel like you have no one and that you cannot see a light at the end of tunnel? Do you want to kill yourself? If this is you, then I only have one thing to tell you. “Kill yourself. But wait! Before you take a knife to your throat because you have come to the end of the road, have you ever thought of changing roads? Have you ever thought of changing paths or changing directions? What we have in this life is called a journey, and within that journey, we can take as many directions, as many detours, as many paths as we can. The hope we have in this life is not in reaching your destination, because of what use then is it to live if we have reached our destination? Our hope, rather, is in the fact that we are on the journey, and that journey includes many paths. The problem is sometimes the people we carry on our journey, when they see that you have reached the end of the road, they make you feel like the end of the road is the end of the journey. The problem is sometimes we listen to people who make us lose confidence in the journey because we are suddenly faced with the need to change directions. And so, instead of stopping your journey prematurely, and ending your life for a lack of hope on the path you are on, always remember that you can and probably should change paths, because there are some beautiful experiences that you will miss if you end the journey having not explored the many roads there are in this World. You may be wondering what I mean by suggesting that you change roads. In this instance, the road represents choice. The road represents an option or decision you took that shaped the path you are on. The fallacy of life says that decisions are final and options are limited, which is why many people who commit suicide do, because they feel that their options are over, and their decisions are final. Sometimes its not even because they are unable to make new decisions or re-think their decisions, but that just by the mere fact that they are considering a change in paths, that those around them begin to see and verbally reinforce the fallacy that decisions are

final, even if they no longer work, and that to want to change those decisions and take another path is to be irresponsible or to be unreliable, yet to change paths is to show strength and belief in yourself. It would be unfair and possibly unrealistic to think that roads never actually end, they do. Sometimes you have put enough resources in the sinking ship, sometimes you have put enough time in the relationship, sometimes there really isn’t much to live for in that situation, but you know what? There are many other situations worth living for, all you may have to do is to change the road you are on, take the one less travelled. Travel it alone if you have to, because anyone who reinforces failure in a journey because of a single road is not worth having on your journey. Anyone who makes you feel less confident in your ability to make solid decisions enough to make you feel like you better make one last , so you do not have to make any more, should never ever be a part of your journey, because let’s be real,

more times than not, you didn’t even arrive to that path on a singular effort to begin with, and so cut yourself some slack, cut yourself some toxic people and reinvent yourself. So yes, “kill yourself”, but just your old self, and reinvent yourself as many times as God allows you to do so, because sometimes the end of the road is only in your mind, and the moment we realize that we have other paths we can take, more friends to make, more relations to develop into family, more career paths to pursue, more sun rises to see and sunsets to experience, you will realize that you can take a completely route in life, and no matter where you are, you can still stop, breathe, look up and see the same Sun and the same Stars and the beauty of the galaxy above, no matter where you are in your journey, and that right there, is worth living for.
