wishes,

Hey Aqua Apes!

I hope you all had an extremely restful and healing winter break. I spent time with family and friends and feel extremely rested and ready to tackle the new year and the rest of the term! With the new year, elections are creeping around the corner, so it's time to think and reflect on what your next role in Key Club is! I personally encourage you all to take that risk and run for the position that calls to your heart! As Michael Jordan said, you miss every shot you don't take, so take this shot and the position might change your life!

I'm so excited to see all of you at Holiday-a-thon, How the Grinch Stole Service! Me and D34S LTG Sriya are very upset with the Grinch for stealing our event and making it in January but I know your spirit and passion for service will make it amazing!

Seniors! I can't believe college applications are almost completely over. Good luck to all your schools and I wish the best for all of you. With the next term approaching us, that means DCON is approaching. Start thinking about fundraising and registering because DCON is an unforgettable experience and we need to be there to show our new Aqua Ape LTG elect all of our bananas love and support. There will be so many friends to meet, things to learn, and memories to make. Good luck in your second semester of school and stay strong Aqua Apes!

In 2022, you’ve demonstrated what it means to be a true Key Clubber. You’ve served our community with a smile, brought your all to spirit battles, and welcomed new Aqua Apes into our community.

I see a future of service and spirit… but also lots of bananas.

The San Carlos Night of Holiday Lights is an annual event that takes place on Laurel Street. Each year, there are games, performances, food, and crafts that kids of all ages come to enjoy. This was one of my favorite events I went to as a freshman and I have gone every year since - I’m so sad that this is my last one as a senior!! At the event, Key Clubbers helped set up various stations and run the craft booths where kids made snowman tealights, pipe cleaner snowflakes, and decorated coloring pages. Despite the cold, I loved getting to interact with all of the little kids and help them create their various projects. It helped me get into the holiday spirit with the Christmas music playing, fake snow falling, and hot chocolate drinking. The Night of Holiday Lights is one of the best ways to ring in the holiday season while giving back to the community and interactingwithlittlekids!

On November 20, several Key Clubs from different schools gathered at Beresford Park for the division council meeting (DCM) of the month. The DCM was combined with a service projecttodesignmealbagsforMealsonWheels.Somepeople, including myself, also donated to the food drive. The meeting started off with saying the key club pledge, and then the person who led the meeting checked in to see how many people there were from each club and to ask about recent club updates. They also recognized their amazing apes, which are clubs, members, advisors, and officers who worked especially hard this month. After more updates and upcoming events, we took a group photo and got right to the service. I alsosawthespiritstickforthefirsttime, anditlookedreallycool!

Sequoia and Kiwanis held a food drive at two Safeway locations. One was at Sequoia Station and one on Woodside Road. Most Key Club members went to the Safeway at Sequoia Station. Key Club and Kiwanis members stood by the doors and asked customers to donate 10 dollars to Second Harvest at the checkout for families in need. There were some members who did 1-hour shifts, some who did 2-hour shifts, and some who did theentire4hours.

Volunteering at the marathon was a blast! Never have I seen so many people running all at once. I had great fun putting out water and electrolytes for the runners. I also had the opportunity to cheer for the runners as they head to the endpoint. Even though I had to wake up at 4 and the volunteering was pretty fast paced and tiring, I still had lots of jolly goodfun!

CARLMONT

Throughout this past month of November, Carlmont held over 10 different service events for our members. To celebrate thanksgiving, we hosted a potluck and donation drive with Aragon! Our zoom events also went great - some highlights included making origami turkeys and writing holiday cards for hospitalized children. Members also had a blast at the November DCM. Our PTP bracelet fundraiser is ongoing until the end of December. We recently had a Holiday Social and new member induction at our last club meeting of the year, where we collaborated with Pi Club and ate pie :) For December, we have a lot of exciting events planned. We’ve kicked off the holiday season with the annual Night of Holiday Lights event, helping to run activity booths, and another big service event coming up is the San Carlos Holiday Workshop and Toy Drive. We’ve had a great first semester and are excited for more amazing service throughout the holidays!

HILLSDALE

This past month Hillsdale Key club has attended varies events including the November DCM, which we hosted. We had a very successful Thanksgiving food drive in which all of the donations went to Second Harvest Food Bank. We have continued hosting weekly general meetings and have been encouraging members to pay dues and attend events. We are looking forward to the new year and are planning some fundraisers and club level events.

NOTRE DAME

During the month of November, Notre Dame was busy with bi-weekly club meetings and other events. One service event at our meetings this month was making hand turkeys with thank you notes for our teachers. We gave these to the teachers right before Thanksgiving break to show our appreciation. We also had members participate in a Safeway Food Drive in partnership with the Second Harvest of Silicon Valley. Our members helped out at the Foster City Safeway alongside Kiwanis members. We also had many members participate in Boba Battles.

34

SOUTH SF

For the past month, South City has been participating in a lot of service events, such as beach clean-ups, card events, and marathon monitoring. We have also participated in Boba Battles! Moving forward, we are planning on a fundraiser for the new year, as well as gaining sign ups for Hot Chocolate Run and the ice skating interclub with a few other clubs in our division.

WESTMOOR

For the past month, we held a beach clean up event and had an ice skating bonding event. That's pretty much it. Our general meetings have been consistent as well with many members showing up.
