Message from your Lt. Governor
Aloha Aqua Apes! My name is Courtney Tai and I’m honored to be serving as your Lt. Governor for the 2021-2022 term! I’m a rising senior at Aragon High School and have served as their president and treasurer, along with Executive Assistant last term. I’m so excited for this new term and know that it will be a great one! Everyone’s hard work has been so inspiring and amazing to watch and I know we can do even more this new term! The pandemic posed a huge obstacle for Key Clubs all over the world, and yet our division continued thriving and I’m so proud of everyone! Now that we’ve mastered zoom and online events, I have full faith we’ll have a term filled with service, friends, and fun!
Going Bananas for Service,

Mr. Key Club was an amazing opportunity to see Key Club members from other schools while also having fun and raising money for the Pediatric Trauma Program! With the theme of Crazy Rich Key Clubbers, contestants Ryan, John, Landon, Hunter, and Iain competed in various categories to be Mr. Key Club 2021. While showing us their best formal wear, spirit wear, and casual attire, the contestants also showcased their best pickup lines, displayed their knowledge in Key Club trivia, answered audience questions during a Q&A session, and put a spotlight on a talent of theirs. In between the competitors showing off their skills and style, there were incredible performances! The LTG elects, Madeline and Courtney, did a breathtaking rendition of Can’t Help Falling in Love With You on the alto sax and cello. Other performances included a cover of Days in the Sun accompanied by a piano, and a dance to Juice by Lizzo. Once all of the judges’ scores were tallied, Carlmont’s treasurer, Iain, won! With the themed virtual backgrounds, commemorative overlays, a raffle supporting the Pediatric Trauma Program, and an extremely enthusiastic and supportive chat, the 17th annual Mr. Key Club pageant was a fantastic experience full of laughter and joy. I can’t wait for next year’s! Grace Kimberg Carlmont Key Club
Mr. Key Club was a fun pageant bonding event between division 34 north and division 34 south! From 5pm to 7pm on Saturday, March 20th, 5 male key clubbers competed for the renowned title of Mr. Key Club. After various events including trivia, pickup lines, q&a, and talents, Iain Weissburg from D34N was crowned the winner!! As a judge at this event, I had the best time giving points to contestants for each round and seeing what they had up their sleeves. There were performances throughout the event too (yay sami, madeline, and courtney !!) and even a raffle at the end. I had a fun night laughing with everyone from both divisions :) Evan Yang Aragon Key Club

During the Spring Cards event hosted by Saint Ignatius and Lowell, we created cards that were spring themed. The cards will be sent to an organization in Los Angeles, California that supports families in need by providing them with meals. Hopefully our cards will remind those families of the bright days ahead of them and let them know that people care for them! I spent a lot of time decorating my cards with butterflies and flowers. I included many yellows, pinks, greens, and pastel colors that represented spring. I had a lot of fun! Jessy Guan Lowell Key Club
On Sunday, March 21st, I attended a letter writing event hosted by Lowell & Saint-Ignatius. We created spring-themed cards to be sent to the Food on Foot organization, whose mission involves supporting food stability in LA communities! I enjoyed how relaxed & easygoing this event was. We haven’t had two clubs co-host an event since December so I thought it was a fun event as one of our last service events of the term! Lisa Nguyen Carlmont Key Club

E-Cards for UCSF was a digital service project hosted by Abraham Lincoln, a newly chartered school in our Division! After the ice-breaker, they explained instructions for the dimensions of the card and design using Canva. The cards we made were compiled into a large google slideshow as we worked to send to the medical workers from the UCSF Medical Center. It was a pleasure to get to know the Abraham Lincoln board in this service project. I enjoyed seeing all the different and creative cards made during the event using Canva! It was very memorable seeing as it was one of the last events for the 2020-2021 term, I can't wait to see what this term has in hold for the division! Marcela Zaragoza-Padilla Aragon Key Club
Lincoln’s first division wide service project: E-Cards for UCSF was a success! This was the last DWSP of the term, so our board was determined to end the 2020-21 term with an event that would appeal to the virtual aspect of hosting a large event during the pandemic. While at first it was difficult to land on a theme, we finally decided to keep it to writing cards, but digitally since it’s a bit hard to send out physical cards when we’re at home all the time. We utilized resources like Canva, a graphic design platform and Google Slides to put all the cards in one neat “stack”. The turnout was amazing - we got people from Aragon, Sequoia, and many more schools to come to participate in the event. There were technical issues in the beginning, but after that, it was smooth sailing. If the event were to be rated out of 10, it would be a solid 10/10 for the wonderful card designs and people who attended our event! Thank you for offering us a chance to host a DWSP, we would gladly do it again!

Congratulations to our IP LTG Kristen Carpio for getting the RFL award, Governor’s Award, and distinguished LTG!
At our first ever virtual DCON, Key Clubbers from all over California, Nevada, and Hawaii gathered on Zoom to celebrate this past term and all of our achievements. This three day weekend event was filled with laughter, performances, and even tears. Key Clubbers attended informative workshops, voted for the new executive board, participated in so many fun bonding activities, and received awards for their hard work. A super exciting thing that happened was AJ Rafael performing for us, and his fiancé even came on! Our first and hopefully last virtual DCON was a blast and I had lots of fun. This couldn’t have been possible without our DCON Chair and division LTG Kristen Carpio so thank you Kristen!! <3 Michelle Li Lowell Key Club

This year I attended my first ever DCON (2021) and don’t have any regrets. We had activities and workshops from lovely people and I learned a lot. I enjoyed the vibe check zoom because it was very wholesome. I also enjoyed doing Jackbox during our Governors ball. During the Jackbox we got to play while streamed it on twitch :) It was quite funny because we didn’t get a spot for three rounds. Eventually we got our spot back and continued playing. During DCON we also got to see a webinar where there were scholarships given out, people placed for different categories from who fundraised the most to who attended the most events and more! We spent time to appreciate our retiring Leadership team members-Daniel Min, Grace Yim , and Yena Suh. It was so bittersweet we were all crying </3. I enjoyed my first DCON even though I am a sophomore and didn’t get to go before to an in person one. Thank you to everyone for making this so fun and especially Kristen Carpio :) Bree Sep Hillsdale Key Club

Nina has been an extremely dedicated Key Clubber over the previous term and continues to be this term. She is constantly at service events both on this division and club level, and she even attended DCON this year! She's also very proactive in reaching out and always asking questions. We’re so glad we have such a dedicated member in our club
Sanjna put in a lot of work to organize our Spring Jar Fundraiser to start off the new term and I appreciate it so much as everyone else was adjusting to the new term. She’s also remained communicative throughout the whole process and is always very responsive!

Gerry has always been a dedicated advisor. He makes an effort to attend every general and board meeting for clubs he oversees and he’s never missed one. He also helped arrange the service event for our April DCM and constantly reaches out with opportunities for his clubs!
Lowell has already accomplished so much at the beginning of the new term. They’ve organized club service events and a fundraiser and have been communicating with their Kiwanis advisor. Not to mention, they won club attire and distinguished as a club at DCON.

Club Summaries
Our club took some time to focus on preparing our new elects by providing them resources and debriefing them on how we create slides, do outreach, and many more tasks. Our first official meeting of the term started out with a bonding event because we wanted to get to know our members more, which was something the board and I hope to continue to do before the school year is over. As the school year closes, the board and I will start to plan for next year in order to be prepared for what’s coming!
In the month of April, Aragon Key Club had an interclub event with Carlmont and Hillsdale where we decorated bookmarks for sexual abuse survivors. Our board and a few of our members went District Convention which was a lot of fun. Our new board also went to the April DCM and stayed for the service event hosted by San Mateo and Aragon. For the rest of the month we are just planning to add more activities after our general meetings and properly introduce our new board to the members.
At Burlingame High School Key Club, we have been primarily focusing on transitioning from old officers to new officers and training the new officers, however, we are still working on finding a vice president and treasurer. We also have been having our club meetings every other week and just had our first meeting hosted by our new officer board! Overall, the transition has been smooth and the new officers are excited for the new term!
Last month Carlmont Key Club hosted a total of 4 service events and participated in many division events, including the April DCM and the Cards for Medical Staff Workers at UCSF. 11 of our members also attended DCON. We had our annual planning meeting where the board set goals for the new term and created detailed plans to achieve them. Our committee chairs also held training meetings for their new committee members. We continued to have our weekly club meetings on Thursdays where we introduced the new board and played fast friends for our members to get to know them. As for May, we are preparing to host our first division-wide service event of the new term where we will be creating felt roses for victims of COVID. We are super excited for this next month as we are planning 5 service opportunities, Eliminate raffle fundraiser, two social events, and more!

In the month of March, Hillsdale Key Club continued to train the new officer board in their positions. Members from our club attended events such as the March DCM, Mr. Key Club, and Spring Cards. We continued to encourage members to pay dues up until the due date to get them in. We also promoted DCON as much as possible to get the best turnout that we could. Currently, we are getting ready for our interclub service event with Aragon and Carlmont where we will make bookmarks for abuse survivors.
This past month we have handed over the club to our new officer elects for the 2021-2022 term! The service projects at our club meeting have consisted of helping other people, and two of the projects have been related to expressing our affection for our loved ones. We continue to hold these bi-weekly meetings. Our Krispy Kreme fundraiser is still ongoing and we've been having beach clean-ups every few weeks!
During the month of March, Lowell continued to attend service projects hosted by the division as well as collaborated with Saint Ignatius to host our own. We hosted the Spring Cards DWSP where we created spring themed cards which would then be sent to the organization Food on Foot for distribution to help support shelters in Los Angeles. We also had an interclub with Aragon and Carlmont called Art for Little Hearts where we created bird-themed crafts for hospitalized children. We completed our elections for our Vice President of Public Relations position and promoted District Convention throughout the month at our meetings. This upcoming month we plan to train our officers, attend District Convention, and to set goals for the new term!
We have elected our new board for the key club 2021-2022 term! The past few weeks have been focused on training, board meetings, and socials amongst the new officers to improve the board's teamwork and comfortability with each other. We have attended DCON (some officers got awards) and plan to attend the Officer Training Conference coming up in May. We are in the process of planning some service events for our members, as well.

This month, our club continued to hold our weekly meetings where we had great member attendance. We encouraged and had members attend the various service events throughout the month such as DIY Bears for CR foundation by Sequoia and Spring Cards hosted by SI and Lowell. This month our school transitioned to being semi-back in school so we worked to get our club organized with all of that happening. Finally, we prepared to make the transition into the new term. As a club we are all excited to go into the next term although it is bittersweet to see this term go.
For the month of March, Sequoia's Key Club began the month by participating in our monthly food bank distribution, where we took down the family's information as well as loaded boxes into people's cars. We also held our general meetings where we presented to new and old members and attendees. We had our monthly Magical Bridge park clean up where we removed weeds and helped clean the newly built playground. We finalized our results for elections, began planning training for the incoming elects and continued participating in the upcoming podcast with P.A.L. Sequoia also had the opportunity to host a division-wide service event, DIY Bears for the CR foundation. We were able to create bears with different mediums for children who are or have been affected by domestic violence. We also attended DCM and other events hosted by the division and clubs.
For the month of April, South San Francisco has been continuing its bi-weekly general meetings with fun games afterwards! Currently, we're meeting once a month at Westborough Park for a park clean up alongside El Camino! Our new board is in the planning phase for several projects and socials that we hope many people will join us for in the near future! And of course, we're promoting upcoming division wide service projects and interclubs to all our members. There's only one month of school left so everyone let's make one last final push towards the finish line and have a summer swimming in service!
For the past month, we have been transitioning into the next term. We have done cards and letters to troops in one of our general meetings, and we have had our last general meeting on April 2. In our last meeting, we had a fun activity of trying to go from one wikipedia page to another as fast as possible. Also, we created a Service Bingo for our members over the Spring Break. We have gotten most of the officers and elects to attend DCON this year. We are planning to have a few more general meetings this month to keep the consistency of our club schedule before we enter the month of May, since May is filled with school finals and AP exams. We are excited to plan out how we hope the new term will be like.
