A Message From Your
Aloha, Aqua Apes! Wow! I can’t believe I get to do the first newsletter of the term! Hi guys, my name is John Hillyard and I can’t believe I am serving as your Lt. Governor for the 2022-2023 term! I am a rising senior at Aragon High School and I have served as their treasurer and vice-president, and on the division level I served as your Executive Assistant! I can’t wait to apply the lessons I’ve learned from my past years of experience and serve all of you. This term is going to be so exciting, fulfilling, and fun and I can’t wait to see what kinds of amazing memories we can make! Watching all of you at DCON get recognized for your extremely hard work last term has inspired me so much and I want to become a better member because of you all. Mr. Key Club was amazing and I am so proud of all the contestants that participated and took that risk to present themselves in front of a large audience. As the beginning of the term starts, make sure to start off strong and build those strong habits, (telling myself this as well) in order to not become overwhelmed in the future. Please reach out to me for any questions, suggestions, comments, concerns, or just to say hi :D! This term is going to be amazing thanks to you all!

A golden year of service
DCON 2022 was my first district convention, and it was an amazing experience! I enjoyed Saturday (Day 2 of DCON) the most because we had a general session where awards were handed out, AJ Rodrigo and GinGin performed, and we celebrated all of the service we have done this past term. In the evening, we had the Governor's Ball, where we were able to dance our hearts out and have fun. We were also able to play board games with other people at the convention. I loved celebrating all of our accomplishments from this past term and interacting with Key Clubbers from all over our district! I would highly recommend attending this convention to learn more about Key Club and bask in the Key Club spirit.

Love Island Mr. Key Club is an all male beauty pageant where key club contestants are evaluated on their attire, talents, key club knowledge, pick-up lines, and much more! With fierce competition throughout all the contestants, this years winner was extremely close. Yet one contestant rose above the others and took home the title of Mr. Key Club. Congratulations to our very own Austin Nie from Lowell High School!

The Bunny Hop Breakfast Event was really enthusiastic, hosted by the great people at the San Carlos Adult Community Center on 4/9. The members were able to serve plates of bacon, pancakes, and fruits to the people in our community, including large families with kids and adults! It was satisfying to see everyone enjoying their time, specifically the kids who were able to do arts and crafts activities and watch a cool magic show! Serving the food was also fun because we observed many large families enjoying their meals together. Seeing the kids happy was rewarding, and noticing that the parents were also calm when their children were enjoying themselves was especially rewarding. When we weren’t serving the food, the great people at the community center also gave pancakes, bacon, and fruit to us members who were especially kind of them. Overall, the spirit of the event was wonderful, and I’d do it again! Annabel Chia
