Lieutenant Governor’s Message
Aloha Aqua Apes! Believe it or not, summer is more than half over! Have you reached your service goals for the summer? I encourage you to take the time to reflect on what you’ve accomplished this summer and establish some personal goals heading into the school year. More importantly, the first quarter of the term is already over! You have all done some OUTSTANDING work this quarter, having served a total of over 1000 hours in the first quarter! However, our work is nowhere near complete. Remember, the division goal for the term is 10,000 total service hours, so keep attending those events and make sure you log your hours with the club secretary! As summer heads to an end, start thinking about plans for the school year. Maybe you want to invite some more friends to join Key Club or you want to hit 50 hours of service by the end of second quarter. Setting goals is the first step to reaching them! In addition, Key Club International Convention took place early in July. This past year has truly been an outstanding one for the California-Nevada-Hawaii District. Our very own Immediate Past Lieutenant Governor, Mama Ape Shu Yang, received the Robert F. Lucas Outstanding Lt. Governor Award! Furthermore, IP District Governor Joshua Nuesca received the coveted Distinguished Governor award and IP Division 16 South Lt. Governor Mary Grace Lewis was elected as International Vice President! Our district has not had an international officer in over 10 years, so this is a truly momentous occasion. Make sure you congratulate everyone! Relax during these final weeks of summer break and take a deep breath before heading off into the school year! BANANAS for service, Kelvin Yang Division 34 North Lieutenant Governor

Recreational Centers & Summer Camps Contact local recreational facilities to set up events and drives. Help them prepare for the school year through tutoring sessions, giving advice, and widening their horizons to community service.
Tutoring Be a one-day teacher (or weekly) and help these children to learn Go to a local elementary school or junior high and offer tutoring sessions for students in their library OR help a teacher out in their classroom to assist with students.

Club Summaries Hello Aqua Apes! This month, July, Aragon's Key Club is really busy; we've got service events, a garage sale, and a school supplies drive! On July 16th, we helped beautify and restore the habitat at Mt. Sutro. On July 16th, 17th, and 24th, come out and support us, at 2000 Isabelle Ave where we'll raise funds for our club and preferred charities with a garage sale! Towards the end of the month to August, we'll host a school supplies drive with the Boys and Girls Club, collecting items from a neighborhood in Foster City. If you'd like to donate, please email <ahskc.pres@gmail.com>. We would greatly appreciate any contributions you guys make. As you can see, July is a busy month, and we can use all the help we get. Thanks!

Club Summaries
CARLMONT
Carlmont Key Club has been working hard! We had a total of 12 members attend Key Club Training Conference in June and were awarded as the club of the month for June. We've also had a couple officers attend Kiwanis of San Carlos meetings to strengthen our Kiwanis family ties. At the end of June, we had our June board meeting, followed by a meeting to plan for the rest of the year. Additionally, Secretary Celeste will be working with Editor Kaylee to upload the spreadsheets so that members will be able to keep track of their contribution to the community. We recently volunteered at Bike 4 Breath, and we have a few more events (such as Relay for Life and Symphony in the Park) lined up, leading into the school year. While it's upsetting that there's only a month left of summer, there is a lot to look forward to once school starts.

Club Summaries Currently, the Lowell key club are having meetings about the upcoming school semester. We are all trying to come up with ideas, like bake sales to see if we can raise enough money for ppl to attend FRN. Besides that, we are also starting to plan for DCON since the price is very expensive for some.

EL CAMINO
This month, we continued our summer ventures on the beaches of San Francisco to clean up the lovely Ocean Beach while enjoying the wonders of the ocean. Every week we have the beach clean ups we have a good 5-8 people who come consistently which is a very promising sign showing our club's commitment. We've also started planning our recruitment process and mechanisms for this upcoming year. We will slightly update our advertisement board with some new pictures and then bring our board to El Camino's freshman orientation later this summer to try and recruit some dedicated incoming freshmen. We will also use this board for our school's club rush in September.

So far in July, we've had a Westborough Park-Clean Up and attended an Improving Public Places Event, in which we laid wood chips and some flower seeds around plants that had recently been planted. Sutro Baths Beach Clean Up
Umar Patel El Camino Key Club President It was another beautiful day with a slight, soothing breeze at Ocean Beach in San Francisco. We decided to clean up another section of the beach to start off this time, and it turned out to be worth it as we saw something special. As we headed down we picked up some garbage until we saw a group of people playing an odd game with a couple of balls and 6 vertical hoops. As we got closer, we figured out that this was none other than the beloved game of Quidditch from Harry Potter. After cleaning up some of the trash on the beach, we decided to spend our break watching the fabulous game, me being a Harry Potter fanatic myself. I was explaining to the rest of the club members the rules of Quidditch and how to play. After that fun surprise, we started heading back towards the other side of the beach, Sutro Baths. The waves were great today with lots of white foam being washed up on the shore which was fun to play with.

Sutro Baths Beach Clean Up
We climbed up to Sutro Baths picking up some trash on the way. We entered the man-made tunnel which cooled down our feet on the cold sand after walking on the hot sand for almost an hour. On our way back was when we found a jackpot of trash underneath and on top of a platform in the backside of Sutro Baths. It was eye-opening to see all this trash and how it affects animals and the beauty of the beach because we saw how wonderful the place where all of this trash was but the trash depleted its usage for people. Lastly, on our way back we decided to take a different way by climbing up on the backside of Sutro Baths. Here, we took pictures of the ruins and made a fun, slightly dangerous ascent to the main road. It was nice to see a beautiful view of the beach from a high view.
