DNE Hey Aqua Apes! November came by so quickly. I hope that everyone enjoyed FRN and RTC during the month of October and made lasting memories with fellow Key Clubbers from Regions 9 and 17. To my seniors, congrats on submitting Early Action and/or Early Decision applications! I wish you luck throughout the remainder of the application process. In November, it’s time to show your gratitude to our Kiwanis Family. Check out page 20 for more information about the Spotlight on Service Program and how you can participate throughout the term. It’s especially important to thank our advisors for all of the hard work they do in overseeing our clubs and our events! Take some time this month to relax and enjoy the start of the holiday season. I can’t believe that 2022 is already coming to a close and that the District Convention (DCON) is our next big event. However, we still have many fun division events to come, like Boba Battles and the November DCM. I hope to see you there!
Best wishes,
Katarina Povinec Katarina Povinec D34N Newsletter Editor d34n.cnhkc.dne@gmail.com
LTG Hello Aqua Apes! OMGGGGG, This month was too good. The best RTC ever with the Demigods of service and then an entire day of rides, cheering, and meeting new people at FRN? I'm so tired my Aqua Apes but I'm so happy and so proud of you all for showing up and giving that banana power spirit all month and showing the rest of the divisions how to surf the waves of service, REAL. Seniors, make sure to take care of yourselves and don't get too stressed with college applications and make sure to enjoy your holidays and your fall! Fall and Winter are definitely my favorite seasons so I'm a little bummed it's been so stressful, but like surgeons, we cause pain to start the healing, so make sure when you make progress in your hard work, be proud of yourself and treat yourself! And don't ever compare yourself to others, if you are reading this, then you are a dedicated member of Key Club and no other high schoolers are impacting their community like we are and don't forget that! One way to treat yourself and impact your community is by participating in our Boba Battles! Support your team led by your EA and get all those points and win the Boba Battle war. Aqua Apes, when we are together as a community we make changes happen, so make sure to look around you and uplift others so we can be together strong. One ape is weak, but many make an ARMY!!!
Surfing the Waves of Service,
John Hillyard John Hillyard D34N Lieutenant Governor d34n.ltg@cnhkeyclub.org
EA Hey hey Aqua Apes! Thanks,
Lina Saleh Executive Assistant 808525@seq.org
Happy October! It was so great seeing you at RTC and FRN. Lots of love to you, D34N. For those of you who are taking midterm exams, best of luck to you. With October coming to a close, I’d like to congratulate all of you on getting through the first few months of school and club rush! Thank you for your hard work in expanding the Aqua Ape family. Stay safe!
EA CONT. HELLOO KEY CLUBBERS! Happy November (Turkey month woo!!). I hope October was a splendid month for everyone. There were a few district-wide events and I hope you all had fun there! From RTC (congrats to anyone who was in Gaea group for winning the spirit stick) to FRN, I had so much fun with you all. I’m also so proud that we got to round 3 of spirit battles (WHATTT) AQUA APES DOMINATE!! This month will be a good one and I hope you guys volunteer at many service events and be the good aqua apes you all are. Stay tuned for future, exciting events!
From,
Rea Angela Vera Cruz Executive Assistant rea.angela0806@gmail.com
Hey D34N! I hope all is well and everyone has been active in Key Club! Also, I hope everyone who went to RTC and FRN had a blast and met many new people!! Also, it is dues season so don't forget to pay your dues to become an official member of Key Club.
All the best,

DSEC Hey Aqua Apes! I hope that you are doing well! In the past month, we just had both RTC and FRN, so hope you all had fun! Remember that dues season is still ongoing and even though the early bird has passed, you have the entire term to pay. Just make sure that if your club has not paid something that you at least do so by December 1st which is on the on-time. Throughout the month, I saw you guys participate in many service events so keep it! Hopefully life is not too stressful because I know school is always keeping us busy! Anyways, thanksgiving break is coming up so take time to rest. For seniors, good luck doing college apps for UCs or ED schools. You got this!
Thanks,
Sean Sygaco Division Secretary 122017ss@gmail.com

Nesbit’s “It’s a Party” was a wonderful opportunity for club members to get to interact with and give back to the community! Members were able to help out in a variety of ways at the back-to-school celebration. I got to do face painting for the kids but members were also able to monitor the inflatable playhouses and run games. The atmosphere was super great and everyone seemed to be having a great time. Overall, the event was super fun and I loved being able to interact with the kids and interact with people in the community! GRACE KIMBERG – CARLMONT
08 During the Plant For a Pal event, we first decorated our own pots for our plants using markers. We were able to personalize our vases and decorate it to our desires. After finishing our decorating, we were handed seeds, and we put soil, water, and seeds in our pots. We were also given the option to donate our plants, but I kept mine. After finishing up our plants, we took a quick photo with the rest of the members, and the event was done. This event was fun and relaxing, and I hope to join more fun events. MARIEL HOLGADO | JEFFERSON
Planting plants is always such a go to service event. I'm a super nurturing and caring person so planting plants and decorating the pots was very enjoyable and soothing to me. My friend made me a plant pot and I made LTG John a plant pot! It's like a chain of giving love and care :) KELLY | MILLS
09 Overall, the experience was very entertaining and engaging. I decided to attend with two of my friends just to had someone to talk to, but the experience and the people were all very inviting. We were allowed to decorate our planter pots, which really let me express my my creative ability. Next, we planted the flowers, which was very fun, especially while pressing down the dirt, which i really enjoyed. All in all, I would love to do this again!

I recently attended Plant for a Pal in San Bruno. I got there a bit earlier to help divide the soil in large bags for easy distribution. When the event started, we first decorated the pots with stickers, markers, and cute plant labels! Seeds were distributed randomly at the event and I got a butterfly tithonia. Other options included cosmos and oregano. We gardened the plants together and the steps were easy to follow along with. After watering, we cleaned up and had the option to give the plant to a pal or donate it to the San Mateo Arboretum Society. This was a really fun and unique event, I hope to see more events like this in the future! MARCELA ZARAGOZA | ARAGON

Sequoia's Key Clubbers and members from Kiwanis went to Red Morton Park to participate in this event. We host this event monthly for every second Saturday of the month from 10 AM to 12 PM. Everyone met up in the parking lot of the Magical Bridge Playground area. We then gather our shovels, gloves, rakes, and other supplies. We then moved over to the bioswales and the hillsides where we cleaned the area and removed many weeds.

At the Coastal Cleanup event, we were tasked to pick up garbage left by the beach-goers. We were given buckets and grabbers to pick up and temporarily store the trash by the Surfrider Foundation. I didn't recognize most of the people that attended the event, but I could see that they were also working hard to keep the beach clean. Most of the trash that I was able to find were plastic bottles, plastic bags, and aluminum cans. We were told to look out for cigarettes and shotgun shells and store them separately, but I never found any of those items. Even though it was a bit confusing at the start, I enjoyed the event and would definitely go again if I had the chance.
13
This was a very fun experience. Truly. I kind of didn’t know what to expect and what we’ll be doing in beautifying the coast, but we ended up pulling weeds out the coast to preserve the growth of nearby plants. The event offered a bunch of free stuff: snacks, license plate frame, pencils, pins, etc. There were more people than we expected and it was overall very refreshing to be outside on a Saturday morning. WHAT IS THE The Spotlight on Service Program is a CNH program designed to promote the service goals of the CNH District. By focusing on different themes each month, clubs are able to host a variety of service, social, and fundraising events that all go towards important causes in the community.
KIWANIS FAMILY The Kiwanis Family has been serving Key Club since 1925 with its sponsored leadership clubs. Spend some time this November putting volunteer efforts towards recognizing the dedication of our Kiwanis Family to raising money for global causes and improving our overall community.

ARAGON For the month of September, Aragon participated in the community’s Bayfront Cleanup in Ryder Park where many members attended. Aragon has been focusing on attending the events in preparation for FRN as well as other division events. We are also planning a joint fundraiser with our school’s American Cancer Society during one of the upcoming football games later in October. Aragon is currently focused on attending division events as well as Fall Rally North.
CARLMONT Throughout the month of September, Carlmont Key Club recruited many members through clubs fair. We had an ice cream social to welcome new members at the beginning of the month, as well as guest speakers from Healthy Cities Tutoring at our club meeting. We also held a College Q&A session with Key Club Alumni, held boba fundraisers at each football game, had a campus cleanup, and hosted many other events. We have a lot of exciting community events that we are hosting in October, including the San Carlos Arts & Wine Fair, the Belmont Water Dog Run, and the Goblin Walk. We also have a PTP bracelet fundraiser that we are carrying out. We are very excited to attend FRN and are practicing our cheers :) Also, our last club meeting of October will be a Halloween Social!
EL CAMINO In the past month, El Camino was very busy in planning many service events for their members. In the beginning of September, elco had a couple interclub events like a beach clean-up as well as a clean-up at their local creek. Elco also had the pleasure to host the September DCM where they even hosted a fundraiser there where they sold pizza and boba in exchange for a donation. To close off the month, the officers are working hard to promote FRN as much as possible and ensuring each member meets their club requirements like being dues paid. A committee team was formed right after to help out the officers throughout the term. Elco has accomplished many things this past month and hope to continue to be very productive throughout the year.

HILLSDALE Over this past month, Hillsdale has worked hard to retain members by having weekly meetings and club-level events such as paper crane folding and intro to key club. In addition, we had members and officers attend the September Dares DCM, RTC, FRN Prep 1 and 2, Plant for a Pal, and the shoreline beautification. Currently, we are educating our members on FRN and planning three events, a beach cleanup, an FRN Prep, and the November DCM. Can't wait for the rest of the school year!
MILLS This month, our club engaged in division events like Plant for Pal and the Coastal Beautification. We also attended the monthly division meeting and really enjoyed the environment. The two division events we attended provided us the experience exactly as what Key Club promises. It allowed us to create stronger bonds with one another while doing something fun and meaningful for the community and environment. Our general meetings are still occurring every month and the board is doing great with handling responsibilities. We're currently trying to plan some school wide service events and ways to gain donations for PTP.
NOTRE DAME This month we participated in our school’s club fair and gained new members. We then welcomed everyone with our first meeting of the year that included a basic info session and a short Kahoot game. This was the first of our bi-weekly meetings with our entire club and we are excited for upcoming meetings. We also had some members participate in our interclub with Carlmont where they made flowers out of paper for the elderly in our community.

SOUTH SF For the month of October, we have mostly been preparing for FRN. A few of our members have attended the FRN prep #2 and we have been planning our school-wide FRN prep which will be held this Wednesday, October 12. We have continued to collect dues and money for the division shirts that we will be distributing next week. We are also planning a fundraiser for the month of November, where the money will go towards our club as well as the PTP.
WESTMOOR For the past month, we promoted FRN preps, planned future service events, and had a beach clean-up. We also are holding a volunteering event where you can donate cranes for hours spanning over a month. Our general meetings have consistently had 25+ members.
