Lieutenant Governor’s Message H

appy December everyone! I hope you are all enjoying the holiday season and getting ready for the end of the year 2017! This year flew by so quickly, and I am so happy that I was able to spend it all serving you! With the end of the year comes more great opportunities for you all, including the one and only Candidate Training Conference! With this event coming up very soon on December 9th, you should start thinking: Are there any members or officers that are interested in division or even district and international positions? If there are, then let them know that Candidate Training Conference is an amazing opportunity for them to learn more about leadership and the role they want to run for. Plus, it is mandatory for anyone who wants to run for a district or international position. I hope you all submitted your dues! The on time deadline was DECEMBER 1ST, but even if you didn’t submit all your dues, you can continue to submit them as the year passes. Members can pay dues any time of year, so make sure you let people know they can still join Key Club after the deadline passes! Guess what else is coming up? District Convention 2018! With the new year coming up, you should really continue to prepare for DCON. Remember this year’s DCON is OUT OF STATE in Reno, Nevada from April 13th-15th, so if your school requires specific forms to be filled out make sure you are aware of those policies. Plus, in order to get more members to go, complete some fundraising to reduce the price and figure out transportation way in advance! Lastly, I want to remind you all to take some time to relax this holiday break and really take care of yourself! Make sure you are getting lots of sleep, eating healthy, and keeping on top of your work to prepare for the new year! Finish 2017 off strong and confident! As always, if you ever have any questions, comments, or concerns about anything feel free to contact me! I am always here you my Aqua Apes <3 See you all soon! With the spirit of service, Kayla Tai Division 34 North Lieutenant Governor

Lowell This past month nothing much has happened. We had over 20 members attend Fall Rally North, which was really great. Everyone had a wonderful time there. This Friday, our school is having what we call Fall Fest and we will be selling Banana Splits to fundraise. Hopefully we can sell a lot. -Jason Fong

In the month of October, our club focused heavily on Fall Rally North. We had several people attend both Fall Rally Prep days and had 22 attendees and 2 advisors go to Fall Rally with us. A huge thank you to our advisors Gerry Weiss and John Lyle who helped make this possible! Although the mishap with our Division’s donation money and the spirit rally, Aragon Key Clubbers still had an amazing time at Fall Rally. The Aqua Apes will be sure to be back next year! Aragon Key Clubbers also attended a couple service events at Coyote Point and Half-Moon Bay and we plan on attending the Safeway Food Drive, Central Park Rose Garden, San Bruno Mountain and the Holiday Party event. Let’s go Aqua Apes! -Alex Ma

Westmoor

In the month of October, Westmoor Key clubbers attended FRN which was a new experience for many. For many of the key clubbers, it was their first time experiencing the energy of our division, and seeing key club beyond just our school. We have also been planning for our annual upcoming Hot Chocolate fundraiser to raise money for our club. We also have an upcoming volunteering event this Saturday at Linda Mar beach. -Samantha Chen

South San Francisco In the month of October, South San Francisco went to the division wide Coyote Point clean up. We helped pack cookies and attended FRN. We have also volunteered at Martin Elementary School during their Halloween festival. Through the Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF boxes we have fundraised hundred of dollars for MNT! We’ve introduced the Key Club board members to the admin of our school in order to build good relationships with them. Finally, we are preparing for the much anticipated Key Club week. -Kristie Poon

El Camino This past month El Camino Key Clubbers have volunteered at the the Martin Elementary School Fall Carnival and the local Boy and Girls Club Monster Bash (also a carnival). We had a record performance of FRN attendees from our club, 19 Key Clubbers, which was more than in recent years. We plan to carry on the passion for service and Key Club into the holiday season. We are planning to help work the Kiwanis Safeway Holiday Food Drive this weekend and several other events in the next two months, including a holiday cookie packaging event and a community food packaging event where we will help pack hundreds of holiday boxes filled with food and other supplies that will go to families in need throughout South San Francisco. We are also planning a Secret Santa event for the December DCM and a movie night (movie is TBD). We are excited for the holiday season! -Umar Patel

San Mateo This month, SMHS has been hard at work bringing Key Club to the community. After our members attended FRN, we began to brainstorm ideas for fundraisers and service projects for the holiday season. In addition, we presented at our school’s 8th grade night, recruiting interested middle schoolers. In the upcoming month, we plan to increase our impact in the community through fundraisers during the holiday season, along with increasing our presence at divisions events. -Krithika Thanigaivelan

Greater San Mateo Annual Charity Gala On Sunday, October 12, the Kiwanis of Greater San Mateo held their Annual Charity Gala. At the event, which hosted a total of about 60 Kiwanis, guests and Aragon Key Club officers, guests began with registration and brief speaker sessions followed by dinner. Then came a silent auction, where items were laid out and guests were able to write out their bids for items within a designated time frame, with the highest bidder receiving the item. Following that came a short game of heads or tails followed by a live auction that included a trip to Costa Rica and an African Safari. During the two auctions and short game, Aragon officers and Lieutenant Governor Kayla kept track of winning bids and organized items to later give to the winning bidders. At the end of the event we processed payment for both auctions and handed out items to their respective winning bidders. Shortly afterwards, the Greater San Mateo Annual Charity Gala came to a close. -Sylvia Young, Aragon

1100 On Saturday, September 2nd, South City's Key Club went to Rockaway Beach from 1000 8-11AM. There were about 15 members including manly new freshman which was nice. We walked around and picked up trash, including about 600 cigarette butts. After we finished we had some bonding time for us to better know the freshman. We finished at 900 11 AM.
