Hey Aqua Apes!

Happy holidays! Wishing everyone the best of luck as finals season comes around. Although this time of year is stressful, I hope you’re able to rest a bit and spend time with family during winter break.

As we ring in the new year at the end of December, the end of the term draws nearer. That means it’s time to start thinking about awards and recognition! Find the Member Recognition Program (MRP) rubric on page 7 as well as a short FAQ to help you stay on track with its requirements. If you hold an officer position or are a passionate Key Club member, check out cnhkeyclub.org for District Contests that you might be interested in applying for. Creating the perfect digital portfolio takes time, so make sure to start early.

Finally, if you’re interested in running to be our next Lieutenant Governor, don’t forget to register for Candidate Training Conference! More details on page 24. Everyone is welcome, so even if you’re more into serving on your club’s board or the Division Leadership Team, the informative workshops are bound to teach you new skills that you can apply to any role you take on.

Povinec Best wishes,

Hello Aqua Apes!

I hope you guys had an amazing November that was hopefully less busy than our crazy month of October. School can seem so hard at this time of the year, but after finals it is winter break and hopefully we can all spend some time with our friends and family and take some time to unwind for the upcoming year.

I'm glad so many of you guys went out and participated in Boba Battles and it was great seeing all of your stories and seeing what you guys like to order. Our food drive at the November DCM was such a good way to give back to the community and those less fortunate so they could enjoy their Thanksgiving with food on the table.

Let's continue serving our community this December with our Holiday-a-thon which is an exciting annual event with our sister division D34S where we do various holiday themed activities. I hope to see all of you in the month of December!

reached. I know finals are around the corner, so make sure you all take care of yourself because you will get through it. To all the seniors, hopefully the UC apps weren't too bad, but at least that's over. This upcoming winter break, make sure to get lots of rest because you all deserve it. I can't wait to see what 2023 has in store for us! Happy Holidays!

I went to FRN and it was so much fun! I can’t believe we made it to the top 3 at the competition and it really made the cherry on top of the day. Lines were super long but it’s fine because I was with my friends. Also the food was delish. I can’t wait for next year!

On October 22, 2022, members of our club attended Fall Rally North at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom! At this exciting event, divisions competed against each other in the spirit rally, auctioned for LTGs and other office members of CNH with money for the pediatric trauma program, and hung out at Six Flags with other key clubbers! We are proud to say that D34N made it to the third round of the spirit rally, and although we didn’t win, we are proud of our division for the spirit and effort put into our chants! For the auctions, our division won the auction for Jordan from D12W! Later in the day, our divisions also had a spirit battle against the D26N Red Devils, but it’s hard to say who won since we were all very hyped. Our favorite part of this event has to be strangers in the park catching on to Key Club and asking us how we feel! Overall, it was a very enjoyable experience that lived up to all our expectations!

The service event cleanup was really fun! We got to clean the vistas of Thornton Beach and the views of the ocean were really nice. There were also some horses walking about and we had to put our stuff down in order to not provoke them. However, it was really nice seeing them. I hope to attend another service event like this again!!

On October 1, we had the opportunity to volunteer at the San Carlos Adult Community Center Pedro Tournament. Carlmont Key Club always volunteers at this annual event, so it was cool to be able to continue the tradition. At the event, members helped serve attendees their lunch, refilled drinks, and cleaned up afterward. We even got to enjoy some pumpkin pie! Before serving lunch, we got the chance to play fun games like billiards (pool) and get to know each other better while having pizza for lunch. The event was also a fundraiser, as the attendees donated money to our club to help fund our club to go to events like Fall Rally North (FRN), which will be happening in November. I loved being able to interact with our community and to get to bond even more with my fellow Key Clubbers, and I can’t wait to do more events like this!

On October 28, 2022, we held a T-Pumps Boba fundraiser for our club on campus! This was in collaboration with another ECHS service club, Animal Club. We sold drinks for $6, and alongside us Animal Club sold metal boba straws for $4. If you bought a bundle of both, you would only have to spend $8. What a deal! The flavors we sold were peach mango black milk tea and mango peach passion black tea! The milk tea was a hit and sold out very fast. Our favorite part had to be all the students who helped support both clubs and the environment by supporting our fundraiser! Overall, it was a blast collaborating with another club, and we look forward to more club fundraisers in the future!

At Sequoia's Homecoming dance, Key Club hosted a fundraiser for the club and for PTP. We sold donuts, Capri-Suns, sugar cookies, etc. The dance lasted from 7 PM until 10 PM. The volunteers helped set up the table and gather the goods we were selling before the dance started to be prepared for all the students that would come by the table. The volunteers also stayed around an hour afterward to clean up the table.

During the week of the 24th of October, Sequoia Key Club hosted candy gram fundraisers. We took orders using a google form where people could buy a box(es) and/or bag(s) for themselves and/or others such as friends. We took orders during lunch every day in the breezeway which was always busy and filled with students walking by. On Halloween, we went into classrooms to hand out all the candy grams that were ordered. The boxes and bags consisted of candy, toys, stickers, rings, etc.

Sequoia's Key Club also hosted a bake sale on November 4th. We sold a variety of goods such as donuts, brownies, cookies, etc. We hosted the bake sale between 6th period and 7th periods. We sold the goods in the breezeway during the transition period between classes where it was super busy. We had 2 dozen donuts which was the item that sold out the fastest despite having so many of said items.

WHAT IS THE

The Spotlight on Service Program is a CNH program designed to promote the service goals of the CNH District. By focusing on different themes each month, clubs are able to host a variety of service, social, and fundraising events that all go towards important causes in the community.

PROVIDING

December is all about giving back to the community! Help those in need by organizing food drives, distributing personal care items, or volunteering at local events. Making sure everyone is able to enjoy the holiday spirit is the best way to get involved this December, so be sure to incorporate this SOSP into your club’s events.

CARLMONT

Over the past month of October, Carlmont held 20+ different service events for our members. We helped run the Belmont Water Dog Run, managed booths at the Wildcat Walk & Carnival, helped out at the Goblin Walk, and much more! We also continued our zoom events, such as making origami cranes for the Paper Crane Project and writing thanksgiving cards for the Lions club. Additionally, we sold boba at our homecoming events and hot chocolate at our last football game! A few of our members attended FRN and had an amazing time cheering for D34N. Our PTP bracelet fundraiser is ongoing :) We also had a Halloween social at our last club meeting of the month. For November, we have a lot of exciting events plannedsome highlights include the San Carlos Kiwanis Annual Tennis Tournament, a school cleanup, and an interclub with Aragon where we'll be having a Thanksgiving food drive and potluck!

EL CAMINO

In the past month, El Camino continued to be very involved! First off, some of the officers and members got to experience RTC and FRN this year with lots of attendance. As for service, members got to volunteer at a carnival for Halloween and helped host a boba fundraiser for their school. To close off the month, Elco's editor released another awesome newsletter which can be found on the club Instagram. Elco will continue to host meetings before Thanksgiving break and find new opportunities for the members, but overall everyone has worked super hard.

HILLSDALE

In the month of October, Hillsdale had members attend events such as Fall Rally North and Region Training Conference. They were both super amazing events that our new members loved, and they were a great intro to what Key Club is all about. We also had a fundraiser for our club at our school's musical 9 to 5, where we sold boba and churros. We also started planning the November DCM and have continued to hold weekly club meetings and monthly board meetings.

25

LOWELL

In the month of November, Lowell Key Club focused on internal growth within the club and is working towards building the community between SF/SSF clubs. Lowell has focused on submitting dues in a timely manner, and making sure all of our members are accounted for and accurately reported. We’ve also started projects with our interns, starting projects like an ice skating social between all of the SF/SSF clubs, a secret santa event, and even a holiday-themed fundraiser all for the month of December.

MILLS

This month has been on the slower side with seniors busy with their early decision applications (good luck to all seniors!), so the upcoming Destress with Boba fundraiser is something we’re really looking forward to. Additionally, we’ve been brainstorming and getting more service ideas and wants from our fellow members. During the weekend before Thanksgiving, we plan to team up with our advisor for a Food Drive Kiwanis Store set in front of the Safeway in Millbrae. We’re looking forward to the activities this month and are ready to jump back into it, especially with holidays coming up!

NOTRE DAME

This month Notre Dame has been busy with club meetings. As our club fair was in September, we are working hard this month to retain membership and get people to become dues paid. We hold bi-weekly meetings that include service events. One event that we did recently was making flashcards for children, and we are planning holiday-themed service events for the upcoming winter. We have been "selling" bracelets to raise funds for our club and are consistent with hosting meetings. We plan on participating in boba battles and hosting a tree-planting service event.

26

SOUTH SF

This past month, South City Key Club has been very busy in attending many of the division events, as well as planning our own. 2 of our officers attended RTC and 13 of our members attended FRN. Other than that, we had our first major fundraiser which we had during our school's rival football game. We sold Korean corn dogs along with drinks, and we completely sold out. We also held a few card events in order for our members to gain service hours which overall had good attendance. Coming up, we are making plans to volunteer for the Brave the Bay event coming up in December, as well as a movie night to create a better sense of community within our club.
