Lieutenant Governor Greetings
A Message from our Lieutenant Governor
Aloha Aqua Apes!
As summer comes to a close, I can’t help but be such a proud Mama Ape for all our accomplishments so far as a Division. You have all done such an amazing job serving your homes, schools, and communities. I want you continue your dedication and activeness in Key Club! It is truly inspiring, and I can’t wait what to see what the future holds for us as a whole Division! Although amazing service has been accomplished over the summer, remember that service truly does not stop. Service is available to anyone at any time. 12 months a year; winter, summer, spring, fall; rain or shine. I am confident that every member is capable in achieving 50 hours of service, and can even exceed this expectation! A huge wave of Key Club events is also coming up! Regions 9-17. Training Conference (RTC), Fall Rally North (FRN), Candidate Training Conference (CTC), Conclave, and before you know it. District Convention (DCON)! All these events require a chaperone and transportation. I encourage you all to attend at lease one Kiwanis Meeting, to establish a relationship with your sponsoring Kiwanis, so you have someone to reach out to, when finding a chaperone or transportation arrangements! There will be many waves that will knock us down in the near future, but remember that you are not alone. We are all one big Aqua Ape Ohana, and we are here for one another! All my contact information is available in the signature of my e-mails, DCM agendas, and I am constantly posting on Facebook. I can’t help but smile and be so proud of all the accomplishments we have so far, and all the work you all put into this Division is truly amazing. Thank you, and remember Keep Calm and APE ON!

Club Updates
AUGUST DCM
It was really nice to see everyone come out for our last Saturday of the summer and get together at Central Park. We had a pretty large turn out, even a new member from Sequoia. We got to play a ton of games and everybody got to know each other a little better as well. It’s a great start to the year and a kick off to our new fundraising ideas.

LOWELL FRESHMEN ORIENTATION At Freshmen Orientation, members of Lowell Key Club and I helped pass out flyers and held posters to recruit incoming freshmen for Key Club this upcoming school year. To make Key Club stand out, we wore our division T-shirt and tutus. We walked around crowds of people with huge inflatables bananas, which drew peoples’ attention, and caused them to wonder what Key Club is. I can’t wait to see the new faces in Key Club when the school year begins!

GG L L I O M B P A S L E Global Glimpse is a non-profit organization that gives high school students an opportunity to expand their perspective of the world and unlock their leadership potential. Over the summer, I was fortunate enough to travel to Leon, Nicaragua, to volunteer as an English tutor, and as part of a small team that carried out a community action project for a small village in one of rural areas. During this trip, my experience of volunteering was completely different from Key Club’s — that is, in my own home, school, and community. The people that we helped were either in living or poverty or dependent on our aid to live a better life. In addition, our resources were limited and we had to obtain them ourselves. Lastly, Nicaragua’s culture is truly one of a kind, and it was important that we respected it as we intervened in peoples’ lives while helping them at the same time.
