Aloha, Aqua Apes! <3 I CAN’T BELIEVE THIS IS MY LAST NEWSLETTER!!!! :(((( This year has been such a roller coaster for me, and I bet it’s been the same for a lot of yall too! From college applications and finals to COVID-19, and recently, college decisions, there’s been so much going on! I am so sad that I will not be present for future events and to watch the division grow, but I will always be a part of the Key Club community and have a special place in my heart for D34N. As for my future plans, I have committed to UCLA! I hope to see some of you all down in SoCal ;) I am so grateful for the connections and skills that I’ve gained from this community. There is no doubt in my mind that Key Club has changed me for the better. And with that, I promise to bring my experience and newfound values that I’ve gained into my future to set an example for others and make a positive impact on society! Please keep in touch! (Hit me up! My instagram is @kaelyn7664) As for this last issue of this volume of The Banana Chronicles, there is the usual articles and visuals, dlt messages, division goals, amazing apes, banana leaders, club summaries, birthdays, upcoming events, etc! A Message From Your
Aloha, Aqua Apes! I can't believe I'm already writing my last LTG message. This term has been amazing in so many ways, and I say it all the time but we really did accomplish so much considering the circumstances. Despite having to adjust to transition from online to in-person events, the omicron wave affecting it, and a time of many firsts, we were able to raise over $4,000 for charity, earn over 8,000 service hours, and recruit over 400 members! Even if we didn't meet some of our goals, I'm still proud of what we've been able to do this term. There's still many events to look forward to in the coming months, including the long awaited District Convention! I'm so excited to see you all at the biggest district event of the term! Don't forget to check your emails for some final reminders if you are attending. A member-favorite, Mr. Key Club, is also coming up! Join us on the Key Club Love Island to watch male Key Clubbers compete in a fun pageant and show off their talents while also raising money for PTP! With that, it's been an honor to serve you all as Lt. Governor and I know the division is in great hands with John. Keep up the great work in the terms beyond and continue spreading the Key Club spirit wherever your journey takes you!
Thanks,
Courtney Tai

5. Hey, Aqua Apes! We made it to the end of the term! Throughout the term, I've seen you guys work so hard in participating in many events as well as contributing to our division goals. I know that you can guys will bring this division to new heights especially with LTG elect John making big LTG moves. Also, congratulation to all the new club officers! I know you guys will do amazing in serving your club and if you need help with anything, I'm always here. Lastly, to the seniors, thank you for your contribution to this organization, and hopefully, you are super excited about college! With the term coming to a close, I just want to say thank you to everyone that made this term the greatest and wish you all the best! As always, feel free to reach out to me whenever.
Thanks! Sean Sygaco Executive Assistant 122017ss@gmail.com
What’s Up Everyone! This month has flown by, and I can't believe the term is almost over. For those of you who went to Banquet, I hope you had a good time! I loved seeing all of my friends all dressed up and listening to the speeches. Although I didn't win best EA of the year (which isn't even a category but should be, tbh) I was so happy to see some of my closest friends receive awards. As the term ends, I hope you all continue to attend service events and socials, especially if you are a senior— you'll never find anything like Key Club again so make the most of it! I hope everyone has had a memorable term and that newly-elected officers are able to meet members who have been here for a long time.
Thanks! Kristi Xia Executive Assistant kxia23@ndhsb.org
6. Hey, Aqua Apes! This term passed by so quickly! I can't believe I'm already at my final newsletter message. It's been an honor to serve as your Division Secretary this year and I can't thank you guys enough for making this term so great. I also wanted to send my thanks to Courtney for letting me be on her team during my one last year in Key Club! I look forward to seeing you all at DCON as I'm sure many of you will be winning awards for your hard work, and I can't wait to see what new heights you'll bring our division to in the future. As always, feel free to reach out to me for anything!!!
Thank You! Jasmine Bao Division Secretary jasbao777@gmail.com
Hey, Aqua Apes! This is sadly my last message as EA and I will miss giving my wonderful advice to all of you! My last piece of advice to all of you is to keep going in Key Club and don't lose your passion! Even if you didn't get the certain position you wanted, there is always a new opportunity for you to chase! Like applying for DLT!! I really hope that all of you guys will apply for DLT and take the initiative to take a larger position in order to support and grow our division. To all the seniors, I will really miss you guys when you graduate and it is so sad that it is our last term together but I will still get to see you guys at the rest of the events in this school year. All of you guys were looking so fine in your semi-formal attire at Banquet! Let's all go into the new term with 200% effort and start off with a bang! Love you Aqua Apes!!!
Bye Guys! <3 John Hillyard Executive Assistant jshihillyard@gmail.com

graphic design + member recruitment The Graphics and Member Recruitment Workshop was held over Zoom and was a fun way for members to learn about how to better their design and for clubs to increase member retention. I learned about games that helped me understand pixels, the RGB color system, and color schemes. Ideas for member retention included increasing leadership opportunities, raffles, stickers, and long-term awards. Many members shared their experiences with creating graphics along with helpful tips I will be sure to implement. I look forward to attending more workshops!
MANYA KUMAR CARLMONT The D34N Graphic Design and Member Recruitment Workshop was designed by the D34N PR Committee to teach useful skills to potential committee members. In this workshop, we discussed graphic design tips, how to use Canva, and how to utilize social media for member recruitment strategies. We also had a portion where we played different graphic design games that related to color codes, text layouts, and different fonts. Overall, the most successful part of the event was the Q&A portion, where the participants asked questions to current PR committee members about their experience and their advice. This event ended up being a very successful workshop that was able to educate future members of the PR Committee!

The February DCM we hosted was super successful and fun! It was great to see our hard work into the event pay off. We had a great turn out and everyone seemed to enjoy the bookmark-making project. Overall, I think everyone had a fun time and I’m looking forward to hosting a future DCM!

Valentine’s Cards for Seniors was an uplifting, enjoyable event hosted over zoom by Carlmont Key Club. During the event, people in Key Club made Valentine’s Day cards, wishing the seniors at Sunrise Senior Home a happy holiday! I used colored pencils, paper, and pens to craft my cards. I also included heartfelt puns on the front of each card including, “you’re the apple of my eye” and “I loaf you”, to put a smile on their faces. I really enjoyed making the cards, because some of the seniors might not have family to spend the holiday with, and everyone should feel loved on Valentine’s Day.

CARLMONT Over the past month of February, Carlmont held 7 different service events virtually, which included arts for little hearts, writing valentines letters to seniors, and bookmarks to the liberation library. We have elected our new board and hosted a board meeting, board bonding, and officer training all in one! We also participated in the Weekend of Service as our members did the last stretch to complete their hours for the MRP. In March, we plan to continue with our hybrid events. We are currently in the process of selecting new committees and committee members. For the remainder of March, we are focusing on training our new committees and their members, as well as attending more division events :)
LOWELL During the month of February, Lowell Key Club prepared for elections for the 22-23 term. We promoted positions and roles for each position, and asked interested members to fill out an intent to run form. We had members attend the February DCM where we made bookmarks and saw lots of members from other schools in the division. We also promoted our division banquet and upcoming service events. We plan to do club elections next month and begin training for our new board.
MILLS February to March has been quite quiet in terms of activity. I believe after winter break, our member retention has gone down. As of now, we have continued meetings about every other week, depending on when our club advisor is free. Elections/appointments have happened for the next term’s board. Now, we are preparing for the end of the term and helping new officers get used to their new roles. We hope to up member participation in the next few weeks before graduation.
DNE CHALLENGE: You’ve accomplished so much this year! In retrospect, what is the most significant hurdle you’ve surpassed ?
15 . DNE CHALLENGE: Seniors, where are you headed off to for college or for other post-secondary pathways? If you’re not a senior, where do you want to go?
NOTRE DAME For this month, Notre Dame has been focusing on elections and the February DCM. Since our school had a mid-winter break, there weren't many general meetings and our board focused on the DCM. We fundraised for PTP and the event had a great turnout, with around 45 people in attendance. Our board has also been working to find potential candidates for the 2022-2023 board. We are having elections in early March and are excited to meet our new board and train them! We will continue to attend division events and a few of our members will go to the banquet.
WESTMOOR For the past month, we have continued our general meetings, even though our membership has been declining. We also had a school clean-up, which was in collaboration with two other clubs in our school. Currently, we are trying to finish up club elections despite having a hard time finding new candidates to run for officer positions. We are also planning to host another club-level event this month.
