A Message From Your
Happy July, My Loves! We made it! I am so glad the school year is over! My junior year has been a rollercoaster of ups and downs, so I’m so excited that I have this summer to recuperate and do some eventful things with people in person again. That being said, I am stressed about upcoming college deadlines! There’s so much to do in so little time. Although I am super anxious, I try and remind myself that college is only one step in life. I regret worrying about college take up too much real estate in my mind over the past few years. I hope you all can step back and see how far you’ve come as an individual, not as a college applicant! As for Key Club affairs, I am very thrilled to do some more service with you all, especially because COVID restrictions are loosening up and there’s the potential for me to meet some of you guys in person! I hope you enjoy this month’s publication of the division newsletter. I worked hard to try and clean up my designs a bit! Also, did you notice the new ape? :) Just another reminder that DNE/LTG Challenge responses should be emailed to me and Courtney by the end of the month for Banana Points!
Love,
Kaelyn Fung

What's Up Aqua Apes? Congratulations on making it through the school year! It's definitely been a hard one to get through with online school and quarantine, but you all pushed through and made it and I'm so proud!! I wish everyone the best of luck over the summer and hope you are all able to relax and enjoy yourselves! To all my incoming seniors, good luck with college applications, I'm right there with you :,) As for Key Club, there are still so many exciting things happening over the summer! It was great to see some of you in-person at our Banquet! Hopefully we'll be able to have more in-person events in the coming months! In the meantime, our upcoming events are a great chance to relax, make friends, and also be productive and serve your community during the summer. We have plenty of unique service projects and educational workshops to look forward to; I'm excited to see you all there!
Thanks,

Hello hello! Hi all! I hope you guys had fun at KCTC, I loved that the theme was Ghi-bees this year! Now that we're all finally settling into the summer, I'd recommend for everyone to find a balance in their schedules for these next few weeks. You can do this by having a good time relaxing from school, but also learning something new whether that be through picking up a new hobby, or taking a summer class. Definitely try attending our summer events whether
they're bondings or service projects as they'll be a good mix of both! Thanks for all your hard work this month and stay cool B)
Thank You! Jasmine Bao Division Secretary jasbao777@gmail.com
Hi! I hope everyone has successfully completed their finals and has been able to relax and enjoy their first few days of summer! Our division has been doing extremely well with online events and we have finally had our first in-person event. I really enjoyed seeing everyone in person, especially my friends who are graduating this year, and I hope everyone else had as much fun as I had :) I'm looking forward to seeing everyone at KCTC and while it's online, this just means that more people are able to attend without worrying about transportation. Another upcoming event we have is the River Rose Memorial Project! Our division, specifically Carlmont,
has been putting lots of effort into preparing for this event and I'm excited to see it being put into motion. I can't wait to see how our division's summer goes, especially after starting on such a high note with an in-person Banquet. Remember, I'm always looking to make new friends so reach out to me whenever you want!
Thanks! Kristi Xia Executive Assistant kxia23@ndhsb.org

Hey Aqua Monkeys! Last month, I saw a lot of you guys at Banquet and it was so fun to see everyone in real life! Let's all look forward to the future of our division, & all the fun in-person events that will occur in the future. I also met a lot of you guys at club visitations & I can't wait to talk to you guys more. I hope you all enjoyed your time at KCTC, whether you were in the spirit world with Yubaba, or delivering dues with Kiki, thank you all for attending <3 As the middle of summer comes, I feel like we have a lot of free time… so let’s all fill that
fill that time up by attending service events! Let's all get a headstart to the school year by racking up some hours and funds raised before all the tests and homework come. Well, that's all EA John has to say for July. See you guys soon <3.
Thanks! John Hillyard Executive Assistant jshihillyard@gmail.com
Hi Aqua Apes! Hope you are enjoying your summer break! It was awesome to meet many of you during club visitations and I hope we can accomplish great things together throughout this term. As we transition away from the school year, I am looking forward to see how much you all can do during this time and I will do my best to support you guys when needed. Of course, take this time to enjoy your summer vacation! Perhaps try a new hobby, or trendy food you never tried before. Have fun! Throughout the summer,
there will be many fun division wide events coming up, so keep on a look out for that. Feel free to contact me anytime if you have any questions or just want to talk :)
Thanks! Sean Sygaco Executive Assistant 122017ss@gmail.com
7. The May Division Council Meeting, which was the second DCM of the term, included updates as well as a service event. At the beginning of the event, club presidents gave club updates and we went over past events. We also covered new business, which consisted of upcoming division events, district updates, recognition for the month, and Division Leadership Team announcements! After that, we made flower-themed crafts for Arts for Little Hearts, an organization that works to provide crafts as a gift to hospitalized children. There was a variety of crafts to choose from, and we could be very creative with the flowers we made--these included origami flowers, paintings of flowers, origami bookmarks, and more. I chose to make origami tulips, and I hope that they brightened a child's day. Overall, I had a great time at this DCM and the flower-making service event and really enjoyed seeing people from the division!
ALICE FINKELSTEIN CARLMONT At our division’s May DCM, we created flower themed crafts for hospitalized children. We folded origami hearts, made flower bookmarks, cut paper roses, & much more! This event was filled with creativity & thoughtfulness, and we had so much fun. We hope the flower themed crafts will put a smile on children’s faces and remind them of the beauty of spring!
MICHELLE LI LOWELL
The May DCM was highly anticipated because it included the DLT announcements. The theme was exciting and enhanced the experience of the DCM as a whole and the DLT announcements. While it was spring-themed, it felt like a great way to kick off the start of summer. We also made spring-themed crafts for a service project after, which was fun because this project gave us lots of creative freedom. I was able to make origami flowers, which I was excited about because from Key Club I have now learned how to make origami cranes, bookmarks, and flowers. During a time of studying and cramming for exams, this was a great event that allowed me to take a break.
KRISTI XIA NOTRE DAME At the May DCM, spilling the DLTea, we had our usual monthly DCM but at the end, Courtney announced the DLT for the 2021-22 term. When I found out that I was elected as one of the Executive Assistants, I was ecstatic and I can't wait to serve for the Division! We then went into our service portion where we made flower themed crafts. I made lily origami, and even though it might not have looked the best, it was a lot of fun to try out new origami compared to the usual bookmarks & cranes. Overall, this DCM was a very good event and I am looking forward to this years DCMs.
JOHN HILLYARD ARAGON
8. The May DCM was an exciting event. We first listened to any updates and upcoming events. Then, the DLT for the 2021-2022 term was revealed. It was exciting to see the people who were announced as part of the DLT. Afterwards, we entered the service portion of the DCM, where we made flower-related crafts for hospitalized children. I found this new service activity to be fun, since it focused on origami to make paper flowers. Overall, it was a fun event and the announcements for the new DLT were amazing to watch.
DARREN CHEN WESTMOOR
On May 15th, our new LTG, Courtney Tai, ran the May DCM. It was one of the first division gatherings of the new term, and the new DLT was announced! At the end of the DCM, we had a portion of service where we made origami flowers for the organization Arts for Little Hearts. It was a fun and artsy little craft service project that brought me some joy in the middle of the day, especially because I was so stressed about my academic priorities. I hope that we can do more arts and crafts service events in the future!
KAELYN FUNG MILLS
The name of May's DCM was very suitable for the big announcement our Lieutenant Governor, Courtney, had for this month. She announced the members of the DLT who will be supporting our division throughout this term. The news excites me for this term as the members are motivated and inspiring. After the announcement, everyone came together to create spring-themed crafts. This service project was focused on making welcoming gifts for hospitalized children. We had the option to make a variety of crafts involving flowers, but I chose to make paper flowers. They were relaxing and simple to construct.
ERICA TAM CARLMONT
Mays DCM included information and announcements on the results of the newest DLT! After the results were told there was a service portion after. For the service portion, we had to make flower related crafts. Things such as paper flowers or paper cards were made during the DCM. I drew flowers and botanical designs in honor of spring. Congratulations to all of the newest members in our DLT!

ANDREW TA SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO
SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO FUNDRAISER
At South San Francisco High School's graduation, we hosted a fundraiser selling ribbon leis and boba. It was an extremely joyous and celebratory occasion congratulating the hard work of graduating seniors! We sold handmade blue and white ribbon leis, which looked really good on the graduates. We also sold passion fruit green milk tea and strawberry peach lychee black tea Tpumps, both flavors were really good in my opinion! Highly recommend it! It was a fun day and we raised quite a bit of money for our club and for PTP!
This fundraiser was held on May 28th at South San Francisco's high school graduation. It was really fun to see the graduates enjoy one of the most important days of their lives. We had a little stand near the football field & we sold ribbon leis in our school colors and two boba flavors. We were also able to introduce another person to the club and they agreed to join! After the fundraiser was over, everyone was pretty tired but it was completely worth it.

10 . On June 4th, members of the division gathered at Leo J. Ryan Park in Foster City to celebrate the past term’s accomplishments and to see the seniors off. Everyone was dressed in semi-formal attire and wore masks as a safety precaution. When we arrived, we got our temperature checked and we received a boxed dinner. The banquet was really chill! Many members got awards, some came up to do farewell and thank you speeches, and at the end, people took photos with each other and received their long-awaited tshirt orders. It was the first in-person event since the last banquet in 2020 and the first time I’ve seen many of the people in my division. The experience was great. I hope we get more in-person events like these so I can meet some more people!

the final sunset
2021.
On June 4th, I attended Banquet 2021: The Final Sunset. This was an event to celebrate the hard work we had done during the 2020-2021 term. During this, I listened to speeches from some of the DLT and other Key clubbers which were very emotional and inspiring. Also, this was the first major in person event since the pandemic and it was awesome to see people I have done service with throughout the year in person. Overall, I thought this event was a memorable experience and can't wait to go to future in-person events in the future.
SEAN SYGACO EL CAMINO
On June 4th, I attended my very first key club banquet. Although I was only present for a short amount of time, it was quite the experience! I found hybrid zooming very interesting, but that didn’t affect the amount of engagement received by those at the zoom meeting. I loved the banquet, even through the virtual setting, and can not wait for an in-person banquet (hopefully next year)! Seeing so many people feeling very passionate about key club only motivates me to work harder!
NATALIE LA WESTMOOR
11 . Banquet 2021 was an amazing experience and the first gathering of this term that was not entirely online. Many key clubbers including myself finally got to see other people from D34N in person for the first time and enjoy a great dinner outside. I thought the most memorable part of the banquet was that key clubbers got to celebrate the achievements of the previous term. We got to listen to amazing speeches by the previous DLT and recognize outstanding members that have persevered through unprecedented times. Overall, it was great to experience the 2021 banquet and I cannot wait for next year’s banquet when we hopefully won’t be 6 feet apart!
ARIEL LUCAS NOTRE DAME
FOOD BANK DISTRIBUTION On June 3, I attended Second Harvest's food distribution at the Westlake Park location in Daly City. During this, I did what I usually do during food distributions. I helped to organize the pallets into four to five stations. After all the cars were registered, we started letting cars in to put the boxes in. Overall, I thought the service project was fun and exciting. It is also important that people volunteer at these food distributions because that's the only way people affected by COVID-19 can actually receive the food.
ALEX QUEMUEL EL CAMINO
My sister and I distributed food to many families. It was quick-paced and it was easy to do! The only tricky thing was making sure how to organize the boxes into people's trunks, especially for a family of 3 because we would have to give them 9 boxes of food! It was fun to do & it was sort of like a workout. For this event, we loaded boxes of food such as dry foods (canned foods, pasta, cereal), fresh produce, dairy products, and cartons of eggs! P.S. crystal and I didn't take pictures or selfies cause that felt awkward to do. But, we'll do it next time before families start driving in for the food distribution since we are going again this wednesday (june 9).

12 . FOR OUR
At the May interclub between Aragon, Carlmont, Lowell, Sequoia, and South San Francisco, we wrote letters for Love for Our Elders! The nonprofit collects letters and distributes them to elders living in senior communities to cheer them up. The interclub was extremely fun and a great way to spend my Friday afternoon, surrounded by fellow Key Clubbers, listening to some amazing music, and giving back to the community. It was nice to know that these simple letters have the power to
brighten someone’s day and put a smile on their face. I know for me personally, it has been tough not being able to see my friends in person for the past year, and I can’t imagine what it is like for seniors who cannot see their families or friends at all. I really hope the elders enjoy the cards we made, and I can’t wait to participate in other events like this one!
GRACE KIMBERG CARLMONT
On May 14, there was an interclub with Aragon, Carlmont, South Sequoia, and Lowell. The event was called “Love for Our Elders,” and its purpose was to make cards for the elderly to cheer them up. Key Clubbers were told to write positive messages in them, and many decorated the cards using whatever materials they had. The pandemic has made life incredibly hard on everyone, though the effects it has had on our elders are often overlooked. A good number of them have been unable to see their family and friends due to health concerns, so these cards were a great way to let them know they are loved and appreciated.
NAYA WU LOWELL
The Love for Our Elders Interclub was a great Interclub to co-lead and attend! I really enjoyed getting to know other representatives through the event planning process, and I can’t wait to enrich my Key Club experience with more Interclubs. We were able to create fun cards for the elderly in order to provide comfort during
these difficult times. I enjoyed making these cards and drew inspiration from various items associated with “peace” that I found on the internet. Thank you everyone for coming and I hope to have more fun events!
CRYSTAL CHU ARAGON
13 .
The May interclub was a card-making event with key clubbers from Carlmont, Aragon, Lowell, South San Francisco, and Sequoia. Participants made cards with thoughtful messages for the elderly people who are facing loneliness during this time. The event was really simple and all we needed was paper and other supplies to write and decorate with. I enjoyed making the cards fun and colorful, and writing nice messages. It’s great that this simple activity of writing cards will brighten the day of elderly people!
JOCELYN OWEN CARLMONT The Love for Our Elders Interclub was a fun event through Zoom. Key clubbers first started off with an icebreaker. We were then given the task of creating cards for elders. These cards were simply intended to bring joy. I really enjoyed how these sincere cards only took a small part of our BAILEY WONG day but can make a big difference to the elder receiving the card. I hope we do ARAGON more events like this in the future. I attended the “Love for Elders” event a few Fridays ago. At this event, I created various cards to encourage and uplift elders. Although this event was held virtually, I loved that I was still able to benefit my community through volunteering. It was also a great way to serve in a creative manner, and I was able to express myself through not only words but hand drawn pictures. Inspired by this event, I hope to continue to create cards that give hope and love to our elders.
GRACE PARK LOWELL
Love for Our Elders was a letter making interclub in May with Carlmont, Lowell, South SF, and Sequoia. The service project was an hour long and we wrote detailed letters for those in elderly communities. This would help gladden the elderly by including various drawings and decorations in the cards. Some included crosswords, descriptions of our days, and kind words as we transition out of quarantine.

14 . For the month of May, Mills Key Club focused on issues surrounding Mental health, as May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Key Clubbers from our club individually created different graphics informing people about mental health and why it's important that we discuss it. As I was creating my graphics, I did a lot of research regarding mental health and I learned many new facts that I didn’t know before. This simple yet effective individual service project was very beneficial and informative. I spent over an hour and a half researching and creating the graphics as I listened to music which was very calming in itself. I had a great time as I made my graphics!
SERENA CHOI MILLS
Mental health is definitely a really important matter for everyone to recognize and acknowledge. It’s so often stigmatized even though it’s such a common thing that affects us and the people around. Creating this poster to spread awareness allowed me to finally research more on mental health. It taught me a great deal on how it affects different people and how we can help those with mental health problems.
RISCA MILLS
At our club for Mental Health Awareness Month, we made graphics with information related to mental health. Our club had each of the board members make a graphic about mental health. They all turned out wonderful and were fun to look at. Making these graphics for mental health awareness was fun and a great learning experience. I learned a lot about mental health and how we can help those who struggle with it.

For the past two Saturdays, Key Club has been volunteering at Claire’s Eagle Project where they made 400 leis for Ralston Middle School’s graduation. They worked with other scouts as well as friends and family to fold a total of 2,800 flowers. It was really cool to see everyone come together to help in an in person event, especially since we haven’t had one in a while. What made it even more fun was the fact that we got to meet new people from both Key Club and other members of our community. I am super grateful for everyone that came to help; your hard work is definitely appreciated and I can’t wait to see the finished products!
CLAIRE TSENG CARLMONT
Claire's Eagle Project was the first in-person event we've had in a little bit over a year! We folded origami flowers in the first session, and constructed the origami graduation leis for Ralston Middle School in the second session. This event was super relaxing and it was very exciting seeing everyone in person while making the leis. They were fairly easy to learn how to make, and once we got into a rhythm, we were able to make 150 leis at the end of the second session. I would definitely recommend this event to anyone that wants to start interacting with others in-person again and making a difference in their community with origami!

Shea Stubblefield
OFFICER OF THE MONTH
Despite having a hectic schedule filled with AP exams and summer priorities, Shea has made continuous efforts to seek out opportunities to improve Mills. As always, she upholds the virtues of Key Club by presenting herself as an inclusive, caring, and leading officer. Her growth as the PR Head is apparent and we’re excited to see what she has planned for the rest of the term!

George Kranen
ADVISOR OF THE MONTH
George has been a huge help the past month with planning banquet. He provided the sound system, lectern, webcam, and tables and was very involved and encouraging throughout the entire planning process. The event wouldn't have been possible without him. He's also been very supportive and helpful to the clubs he oversees and was very involved during the club visitations.
Notre Dame
CLUB OF THE MONTH
Notre Dame has been very involved this past month. They were on top of their club visitation scheduling, have reached out about hosting a division wide event, and are also in the process of planning a division wide fundraiser. The officers have shown great initiative and dedication, which is why they're club of the month.

ARAGON For the month of May, Aragon Key Club focused on our members and our end of school year goals. We had an interclub event with Carlmont, South San Francisco, Sequoia, and Lowell. We wrote letters for our elders. Our officers attended OTC which was really successful. Our members and officers also attended the Peace Cranes service event. Many of our members also attended the May DCM and we went to see the new DLT and also get service hours.
CARLMONT Last month Carlmont Key Club hosted a total of 6 service events, two fundraisers, and 2 social events. Many of our members participated in many division service events, as well as the Officer Training Conference. We were also able to have our IP President, Ashley Zheng, and other seniors, give advice to our underclassmen and juniors about tips and tricks to college applications. We held a fundraiser for ELIMINATE, which is still ongoing, and ended the year off with a club meeting celebration. We recognized all those who have contributed a range from 15-200+ hours of service! Later, we held our first in-person celebration of the term at Mariners Park, where we played games, ate pizza, and hosted a dare fundraiser. We were able to raise a total of $92 for PTP while members got to dare their officers to get pied in the face, tell embarrassing stories, and more! As for June, we have a lot of service, social, and fundraising opportunities for our members, including the division-wide river rose memorial in which we are hosting. We are also planning more in-person events, such as a levee clean-up. We are super excited for the summer and for our members to shine through service!
EL CAMINO In the month of May, El Camino dialed back club activities a lot because of finals and AP exams. To end off the school year, our club recognized the outstanding service of two members and had the last meeting of the school year. Furthermore, we had representatives go to the End of Year Banquet, which was great. Going into the summer, club activities will be more passive to allow members to enjoy their vacations with friends and family. However, we’ll continue to promote club activities whenever possible, such as the weekly food distributions and monthly park cleanup.
HILLSDALE In the month of May, Hillsdale Key Club had officers attend OTC 2021 as well as division wide events such as Spilling the DL-Tea and The Final Sunset. We also have the pleasure of congratulating one member and one officer on their acceptance into the Division Leadership Team and transitioning officers into their new delegated tasks. Lastly, we held our last club meeting of the school year as well as our last board meeting of the school year and put plans in place for summer meetings. Currently, we are working with the DLT and LTG regarding the June division wide event, and are looking forward to announcing it.
LOWELL Many exciting and fun events happened during the month of May. Members attended the May DCM, where it was announced that Jasmine and Landon were on the DLT and Alekz was the Officer of the Month. Our club had an interclub event with a few other Key Clubs, and we also held the last general meeting of the school year. We recently had our first in person event of the term, Banquet 2021. We had so much fun seeing each other in person and meeting people for the first time. Our club received Club of the Year, our advisor Sheila received Advisor of the Year, and Michelle received DLT member of the year. Banquet was the perfect way to wrap up the last term and begin our new term! We plan on having club meetings during the summer and are currently promoting existing events and creating new ones.
MILLS For the past month, Mills Key Club has gradually gotten into the groove of things and has started to host some more service opportunities for members. We've continued the May Mental Health Awareness Month independent project. We have also attended division events, such as the May DCM/Arts for Little Hearts Flower Making event and the in-person banquet! Some of our upcoming events include an interclub with Sequoia and Carlmont, a zoom club service event(Gotta Have Sole), and a board social. We plan on attending the River Rose Memorial Division-Wide Service Event, Pet-A-Palooza Division-Wide Service Event, KCTC, the June DCM, etc. We just had a board meeting on June 6th to discuss further actions. Our PR Team has also been very active in creating a club guideline for future Mills PRs and a club-specific graphic standards manual. Many systems of organization have been set in place in order to keep our club on track this summer and the rest of the term. One of the main goals for this summer for Mills Key Club is to establish more of a presence in our school community and to encourage service during the summer time!
NOTRE DAME While this month was finals season, Key Club has been a place of calm for many members. We had our final meeting for this school year and ended on a high note with a service event. We had multiple members apply for the DLT and numerous succeeded, whether it was the DLT or a DLT committee. We also had members attend Banquet for the first time and they found the event extremely enjoyable, especially for our first in-person event. Returning members also loved Banquet and were happy to finally attend an in-person event, as this means the start for more in-person events. We are looking forward to what the summer holds for our division and are already getting started on creating a club calendar for the upcoming school year!

SAN MATEO During May we slowed down Key Club a bit due to dead week and finals week. However, we still managed to get two weeks worth of club meetings in at the beginning of May and we promoted events such as Peace Cranes, the May DCM Spilling the DL-Tea, and the study sessions. We also prepared for an interclub with Carlmont and Westmore that happened in June. Once summer vacation started we decided to cease club meetings for the summer but to stay active on our club discord in order to promote new service opportunities, DCMS, and other events over the summer.
SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO For the month of May, South San Francisco went through our first big project of the new term that tested our teamwork and communication skills. We held a ribbon lei and boba fundraiser at our school's graduation event, which was an extremely fun and joyous occasion and raised about $300 for our club and for PTP! And earlier in the month, our officers and a few of our members went to Officer Training Conference to learn more from experienced Key Clubbers. Not only that, our club continued to attend division events such as Peace Cranes, Spilling the DL-TEA, and the D34N Spring Study Sessions. We're currently planning much more for the summer months, such as in person projects and much more socials, which we're all excited for!
SEQUOIA For the month of May, Sequoia's Key Club helped the Second Harvest at a food distribution to families by putting boxes of food into their cars and writing down their information. Sequoia's Key Club did a cleanup at Red Morton Park by digging up unwanted weeds near the Magical Bridge Playground.
WESTMOOR For the past month, we have been discussing our plans and goals for the summer. We have had one general meeting in the month of May, since members are likely busy with school finals and AP exams. We included a fun social activity at the end where we played Codenames. Our officers have also been attending division events, such as the May DCM and the Peace Cranes service event. Due to the new term and new school year, our membership has decreased, but we are working on finding more underclassmen to join. We have slowed things down a little during the month of May, and now we hope to speed everything back up.
