What’s Up, Aqua Apes! I hope you all are doing well! To my fellow seniors that are applying ED and EA, YOU DID IT! I finally turned in my Early Decision Common Application and let me just say, I feel so much better! Now we just have to get through Regular Decision! Besides the college frenzy, I hope you all are happy and healthy, especially now that it’s nearing winter. Make sure to dress in layers and to stay warm. As for Key Club specifics, November will be BUSY! There will be a lot of upcoming division events, so look out for those and make sure to update your clubs with the new information and opportunities. On that note, I would like to highlight our George’s Joke Book event, where key clubbers can submit their memories and some jokes for George’s family and friends. Please keep George and his family in your thoughts and prayers! Lastly, I thank you all who read these newsletters, as it takes me a lot of time to complete them and make them look nice. Please spread the newsletter to your fellow key clubbers so more people can be involved and informed within our key club community! As usual, there are LTG and DNE challenges scattered throughout this issue of The Banana Chronicles. Earn your club some extra banana points by answering them. It’s really simple (directions on submission on page 33). Thank you, again, and have a great November, Aqua Apes!

Love,

Kaelyn Fung

Hey Key-uties!! I hope you all had a blast at RTC and FRN! Now's time to start thinking about Candidate Training Conference (CTC) and Conclave to elect the next LTG 👀 But before I get ahead of myself, dues season is still in full swing! Keep promoting and collecting those payments! There are so many benefits to doing so so make sure to promote them to all your members! There's still time to submit before the on-time deadline. If you don't do it by then, your club will be suspended so be wary of the upcoming deadline!! Also, keep organizing and attending service projects so we can work to reach our goal! We're halfway through the term but there's still plenty of time to get there. Don't forget that you can earn service hours by planning service projects or fundraisers. We also have our boba battles organized by the fundraising committee! Compete against other clubs to win the title of Ultimate Majes-Teas ;) With that, good luck with applications to all my fellow seniors <3 And have a great thanksgiving!

Thanks,

Courtney Tai

5. Hey Aqua Apes! Wow, It is already November! We are approaching the winter season, so make sure to wear something cozy because the weather gets really chilly here. This year, we were able to go to RTC and FRN, so if you went, I hope you guys had lots of fun and got to meet new people. Since we are in dues season, I have seen you guys working hard in getting the dues in as well as continuing to recruit more members which is greatly appreciated. Of course, continue to promote dues to your fellow members, so they can get those awesome benefits and help reach our dues paid goals. I am also so amazed at all the events you guys have participated in both division and club level, so keep up the great work! I know that school can be stressful at times, so make sure to take it easy sometimes and you will eventually pull through. To the seniors, I wish you the best in your college applications. As always, feel free to contact me if you have any questions or just want to talk. See you guys at future events!!!

Thanks! Sean Sygaco Executive Assistant 122017ss@gmail.com

Hey Aqua Apes! I hope you guys all had a great time at FRN and met tons of new key clubbers! At the time of writing this I'm so excited for it and love teaching you guys all the cheers that the amazing spectacular inspirational Spirit Coordinator Evan Yang and the rest of the spirit coord creating! I'm sure you guys all tried our hardest and poured all your spirit into the rally! Well it's officially dues season! So make sure you pay your dues and contact your club treasurer if you have more questions or are interested! If you don't pay your dues... I'll be upset with you. Let's keep pushing through this school year and term and make sure to give yourself breaks because life is hard! Stay bananas for service Aqua Apes!

Good Luck <3 John Hillyard Executive Assistant jshihillyard@gmail.com

6. Hey Aqua Apes! I hope you all enjoyed FRN! It was incredible to see everyone come together to cheer and spirit battle (aqua apes first in my heart <3). As for new events, the division has tons planned for this holiday season so be on the lookout for more fun events! Lastly, if you're taking any standardized testing or applying to colleges, good luck to all my Juniors and Seniors :')

Thank You! Jasmine Bao Division Secretary jasbao777@gmail.com

Hello! October has been such an amazing month, I don't even know where to start. First of all, RTC! I had an amazing time there and loved seeing so many familiar and new faces. I was able to make lots of friends from other divisions and I hope those of you who went were able to too. For those of you who weren't able to make it, I hope you can go to FRN and/or next year's RTC. We also have our October DCM with both an FRN prep and a service event all in one event. At the time of writing this, the DCM hasn't occurred yet, but I'm sure it'll be just as fun (if not more) than our dares DCM. Finally, we have FRN coming up in just a few days! While I am unable to go myself, I hope lots of you are able to go and maybe even see all the friends you've made from RTC. Keep working hard, and I hope you all have a great Halloween and Thanksgiving :)

Thanks! Kristi Xia Executive Assistant kxia23@ndhsb.org

In Loving Memory of ...

May He Rest in Peace !

8. ON OCTOBER 24TH, 2021, OUR BELOVED ADVISOR GEORGE UNFORTUNATELY PASSED AWAY. HE WAS A HUSBAND, FRIEND, FATHER, AND AN OUTSTANDING KIWANIS ADVISOR. DIVISION 34 NORTH IS SAD TO SEE HIM GO, BUT HE WILL ALWAYS BE WITH US IN OUR HEARTS AND IN OUR PRAYERS. MAY HE REST IN PEACE AND WATCH OVER US, GUIDING KEY CLUBBERS TO LEAD WITH SERVICE AND UNWAVERING KINDNESS. -- DNE Key Cubbers have come together at this time to give their condolences and share their fondest memories of Advisor George...

I don’t have many memories with George as this is my first term in South City Key Club. But, I know that George was a very reliable and humorous advisor who Key Clubbers could always count on. He always checked in on our officers and members and pushed us out of their comfort zone. He taught us how to become a better leader. We are truly grateful that George was in our lives and our Kiwanis Advisor for South San Francisco Key Club.

Valarie Situ George was always a joy to be around. Wearing his cowboy hat, he was able to do a lot, not only as an advisor for our club, but also cracking a few jokes. During past zoom service projects, he was ecstatic when his song recommendations would play. We will definitely miss his presence in our meetings. Rest in peace, George.

Elizabeth Wang George had such a passion for Key Club and helped whenever he could. It was inspirational how ready he was to help us at a moment's notice, and he should serve as an example to everyone, Kiwanian and Key Clubber alike, what it means to go above and beyond. I’ll never forget his classic jokes and helpful tips to me as Lt. Governor. He poured 110% of his efforts into this organization, and I am so grateful to have gotten to serve alongside him.

Courtney Tai

Advisor George was one of the most caring people I’ve ever met. Whenever we had questions, he would always be willing to answer them. He helped guide us through the toughest times. Whenever I didn’t know what to do, I knew that I could rely on him. He liked to talk about and show us his cat a lot. At our board meetings, he would always continue talking and never run out of things to say. I am going to miss his long rambling so much. George, thank you for being one of the best advisors I could ever ask for. You will forever be in our hearts.

9.

Darren Chen Although I have only met George through Zoom, he was one of the most welcoming people to my Key Club journey. I remember doing a service project over Zoom and George had kindly complimented a friend and I saying that he was amazed at our music taste. George will forever be missed by everyone here at Jefferson Key Club.

Jefferson Member Though I don’t know Advisor George that well, I have always felt loved and cared for by him through his kindness and optimistic personality. His smile can lift someone’s mood without a word flowing out of his mouth. I remember even the subtle moments of when he would smile as I passed by him during DCMs or the fun and laughter he’d spread from jokes and unscripted dialogue during Zoom meetings. He has truly made an impact on me and on what I’ve come to shape as the meaning of service and leadership. George and his family will be in my prayers. The world was blessed to have such an amazing human grace this Earth. Thank you, George. We love you!

Kaelyn Fung George was always a fun Advisor to have around. He always made me laugh and made zoom calls enjoyable and better when he was there. Whether it was about bts or just telling us corny jokes he seemed like a great guy and a great friend to many others. I enjoyed how he always participated in the events and took care of the key clubs with care and compassion. He always had his cat, and his stories were always nice to hear. I am sad that I will not be able to get to know him better. Rest In Peace George you will be missed and forever in my, Key club, Kiwanis, D34N, and more’s hearts. Rest easy.

GEORGE KRANEN April 8th, 1944 -- Oct 24th, 2021 A message from Linda Kranen, George’s Wife: "I'm sorry to tell you that my husband George Kranen has passed away unexpectedly as a result of ongoing health issues and recent illness. Please let everyone know, especially his beloved Key Clubs, that his Kiwanis friends both young and old (but especially the young!) brought tremendous joy to his life. His Kiwanis colleagues were his heart and soul, and I'm thankful to you all for being such great and excellent friends. I don't have a list of his Kiwanis contacts, and would appreciate it if you could let everyone know. Also, I'm looking for a new home for his 14-yr-old calico cat JJ, who's temporarily staying at the Peninsula Humane Society in San Mateo. She's a nice little girl, and if any of the Key Club kids are interested they should drop me an email." If you are interested in taking in JJ, please contact Courtney at d34n.ltg@cnhkeyclub.org

The day we had our first session for homecoming decorations was truly a packed one. So by the time I got there, I was already quite tired. However, when people started to show up and the vibe changed, I felt much more energetic and ready to help out. We worked a lot with cardboard to make most of our decorations. I'm really proud of what we were able to do for our first session. The float we started on looks AMAZING and I cannot wait to see the end result!!

MELISSA HERNANDEZ Hoco decor was super fun to make. The session lasted a long time but it was definitely worth it. We had about 10 people help us but we still got a lot done. I made some cacti and sombreros and guitars out of cardboard and painted them! Our decorations are looking great!

AKANSHA KUMAR It was a very fun experience. There were lots of people there to help as well. I helped paint lanterns. Also, I painted and cut out tea cups. Lastly, I helped with making Pom poms and small details.

11 . At the newbee social, Courtney hosted a presentation about the essentials of what key club is, as well as some fun games to get members comfortable and get to know each other. We went over things such as what is key club, our major events, dues, and other things that are KEY to what Key Club is about! We also had games in between and after the presentation like a guess the song kahoot, "speed friend dating" and other fun games as well! This event was great for those who wanted to learn a little bit more about what key club is and to meet new people!

JOHN HILLYARD ARAGON

Social The Newbee Social was a virtual event held on Zoom. Our LTG Courtney went over basic Key Club terminology for new members and also went over preferred charities, including a new one: Erika's Lighthouse. I think this event was also great for returning members that joined during the pandemic to get a sense of what in-person events will look like, especially RTC and FRN this October. We also played a Kahoot game together during the meeting to engage members. Time was saved at the end to answer any questions members had about Key Club before leaving.

D C Dares M

The September Dares DCM was very fun. We did division and club updates for the first part of the DCM. The next part of the DCM was doing dares for donations. There was a wide variety of dares, where some were simple and some were extreme. It was enjoyable to watch people do these dares for a good cause. There was also good food and boba. Overall, the DCM was great and I hope there are more dares like these in the future.

DARREN CHEN WESTMOOR The September DCM hosted by El Camino was exciting because it was the first in-person event I attended in awhile! We started off like most DCMs with club/division updates and recognition of our Amazing Apes. Throughout the rest of the event. Members had many opportunities to donate to PTP in exchange for dares, food, and stickers. Our annual dares fundraiser was so fun to watch and raised so much money for PTP!

SARAH WONG LOWELL

On September 25, I attended the September DCM. During this, I bought boba and watched other key clubbers get dared. My favorite part was when people dared to get water dumped on them, because it usually took multiple attempts due to bad aim. My biggest takeaway from this event was that raising money for a good cause can be easy. Overall, I thought the event was fun and I'd like to attend more DCMs in the future.

The September Dares DCM was a division-wide council meeting and social fundraiser hosted by El Camino. At the event, we were able to dare fellow Key Clubbers to do a wide variety of dares that varied in price. There were also DLT dares that we were able to help contribute to. This was one of my favorite events of the year as while I was able to dare my friends, I was also helping raise money for the Pediatric Trauma Program (PTP)! I enjoyed interacting with Key Clubbers from other schools and seeing what dares their friends dared them to do. There was so much to do at the event and the hosts were also very kind. I would definitely attend future events like this and can't wait to be a part of more division-wide events!

13 . On 9/25/21, I attended the September DCM. During this, I helped set up and clean up. My favorite part was when Sean got no satisfaction from waxing Alekz’s legs. My biggest takeaway from this event was that Donald should’ve done a dare. Overall, I thought the event/project was fun.

CAMMY VALENZUELA EL CAMINO

The September DCM was a successful event and definitely one for the books. It was the first DCM I had attended and it was cool how so many people in one room could share the same interests. The highlight of the event was definitely the dares and my personal favorite one was the leg waxing. It was great how for every dare and all the fun that was happening, money was also being donated to PTP. I’m looking forward to the upcoming DCMs and hopefully, by then, I’ll have figured out how to do the division hand symbol.

The September Dares DCM was a great way to interact with new members and fundraise for PTP. I had a great time talking with people outside of my home club and watching all the dares. Although I wasn’t too fond of eating a spoonful of hot sauce and 15 push-ups, it was still a fun opportunity to do dares in-person with everyone rather than online. I really enjoyed watching Aragon’s John Hillyard talk in a British accent the whole day too! I also appreciated that I wasn’t the only one being water bucketed: it was really cold! I’m excited for the next few DCMs to come :))

CRYSTAL CHU ARAGON

HANNAH NEBRES NOTRE DAME

The September DCM was our second DCM in person. We continued the tradition by doing another Dares DCM this year. We had some dares for the dlt like waxing and cutting hair. We also had some general dares like eating lemons and push-ups. It was pretty fun, and the energy seemed really high. 10/10.

I found this event quite entertaining. I attended with my friend and we found a bunch of different stuff. At some point we even found some pliers and a foam noodle. We took some pictures during this and saw a rainbow which was nice. Overall good experience and had fun, except for the sand in my shoes. :)

HARLEE JIAN MARCELO Me and my friend, Jollyn decided to go to a beach clean up!! I brought some reusable gloves and she did too, i also brought a grapple to grab stuff off the sand without bending down. We started to go down the long hill going left to right toward the beach. We started picking up trash but we rarely found anything! The material we found the most on the beach was foam, and other than that wrappers and bottle caps were also found. At the end we barely found any trash, which was great :)

KYLIE SITU I went to the beach and cleaned. I brought my friend along with me for the event. My friend and I decided to start at the far side of the beach. We picked up garbage and other things ect. It was really fun and we took some good pictures.

After school , the key club hosted an event to make cards for the elderly. We used different color papers, markers, and colored pencils to make the cards. For some of mine, I wrote a small message and for others I used drawings and puns. I made a total of 3 cards and honestly some of them I messed up on. The event ended fairly quickly, only being an hour long.

15 .

The project we worked on was kindness cards. There weren't many of us but we all sat at a table and made cards. These cards are meant to show kindness to people all the way in Rhode Island. This was a pretty fun project to work on since it was a way to show our creativity. I wouldn’t mind doing something like this again in the future.

SOPHIA BUBAN

CASSY OROBIO I had a fun time making cards! Even though I made 1, I put a lot of time and effort into that 1 card. I wish I made more though. I hope that person who reads it will like it! And I hope I made their day.

ALYSSA LIQUETE

project This event was really fun. Making the cards was easy and fun as well. We got really creative, which was surprising since it was the end of the day. It was fun seeing what my friends put on their cards and drew. And also it was very time consuming but it paid off.

JERNEE EVANGELISTA We made fun and decorated cards. I wrote like a letter in the card for the person reading it. I also decorated it with colors and faces. I hope it makes their day. I had a lot of fun making them.

BRANDON SEMBRANO

It was so fun. making the cards for them with friends was so cool. It made me get creative with myself and get inspired by others. The cards turned out so cute. I would come to another one of the kindness card projects.

Moonlight Run

The Palo Alto Moonlight Run was an exciting event where we got to encourage runners and provide them with water and Gatorade. It was amazing being able to provide the participants with support and resources so that they could finish off the race with high spirits. It was also fun volunteering with other members of Key Club and making new friends from other schools! I think the best part of this event was being able to cheer for the runners that were working hard, and the money they paid to run went to support nonprofits serving families in the Bay Area. Overall, the event was a great opportunity to be supportive, make new friends, and accumulate volunteer hours. I look forward to this event next year!

LUCY LOPSHIRE

The Palo Alto Moonlight Run was a very enjoyable experience for me. There was a huge turnout of around 1,500 runners, and there were also many volunteers taking on roles such as handing out t-shirts or monitoring the courses. I worked with my other fellow Key Club members at the food stand, where we passed out cake and fruit to the runners. Seeing the smiles of runners, from young to old, when they received the food was a delight. I'm eager to participate in next year's annual Moonlight Run.

On September 18th I attended the twin pines coastal cleanup. Walking around twin pines, it was hard to find pieces of trash to fill up my bags, but I managed to find: take-out containers, cans, bottle caps, candy wrappers, and even worn-out dog toys. I walked around, occasionally meeting and talking to some other key club members. The event was overall very relaxing and fun, and brought me back to pre-covid days, with in-person key club events. It was the first in-person event I attended and overall was a great reflection of the key-club fun, and welcoming environment.

JOYCE CHU On Saturday, September 18, Carlmont Key Clubbers participated in the 37th annual coastal cleanup day at Twin Pines Park. Participants helped clean up the park by picking up trash and recyclables in the area. We picked up litter including used plastic wrappers, containers, straws, utensils, scraps of cardboard, tiny pieces of confetti from previous events, and more. We were also provided with a sheet of paper to track the different items that we picked up. I’m glad that we had the opportunity to spend a productive morning helping to clean up the environment and our community!

LOWELL During Lowell Club Night, we arrived early to set up our stand, where we would welcome underclassmen and tell them about Key Club! We encouraged students to join, highlighting our objectives and our benefits. We distributed handbooks and business cards and ended our night with over 20 sign ups. It was overall a very successful night. Hopefully we have future opportunities to share more about our club!

JESSY GUAN

Club Night was an event hosted by Lowell where many clubs got the chance to give information about their clubs to students. We set up early, and put out our posters and spirit stick, at our designated table. We gave students willing to join Key Club, information about what Key Club is and highlighted key details, objectives and events. Overall, I thought that this was a good experience to encourage students to join. During Club Night, we recruited about 20 members if not more. I hope that there will be more opportunities to show students what Key Club is.

During Club Night. Lowell’s Key Club recruited and informed new members about reasons to join Key Club. It took place in Lowell’s courtyard for a couple hours after school. We managed to get around 20 new members to sign up. We even got featured on Lowell’s instagram page!

On the 21st of September, Mills Key Club had their first club fair since the start of the pandemic! We planned the logistics for this club fair at least two to three weeks in advance, and I’d say that we executed pretty efficiently! We tried to incorporate as much incentive as possible for member recruitment and retention. For example, if someone signed up through our board’s QR code or on our paper sign-up sheet, they’d get three tries at hitting the center of our toy dart board. If they hit the middle, they’d get a free prize of their choice (banana plushie, stickers, monkey flashcards, key club pin, etc.) and could redeem it at the first meeting. Overall, we got a lot of activity and many of the people that signed up came to the first meeting!

At the Keep Ocean Beach Cleanup, we gathered to pick up trash at Ocean Beach and the surrounding areas. I hadn’t visited the beach in a while so it was fun to come again with my club as we were able to bond while doing something for the community. We also managed to meet people from other clubs and organizations who we worked with throughout the morning! It was very fun getting to know new members as this was our first in-person event of the school year. I look forward to more community cleanup events in the future.

JASMINE BAO

keep... clean ! The Ocean Beach Cleanup was Lowell’s second event with Refuse Refuse SF, where we continued to work towards the goal of keeping our city clean! We walked along the Great Highway. Picking up trash on the sidewalks and in the ice plant. Much of the trash we picked up were cigarette buds and small plastics that were a result of passive littering. All in all, it was very fun to volunteer with members in-person again and get to know new members as well!

ABIGAIL LEE

This past weekend, Lowell Key Club attended the KEEP Ocean Beach Clean event! We had new and old members attend this beach cleanup, and another Lowell service org was there as well. We walked along the beach, picking up cigarettes, plastic, wrappers, etc. Despite the cold and wind. We had a fun time and were rewarded with pasta from the Ocean Beach Cafe!

20 . The first Fall Rally North prep day was in San Mateo's Central Park. I loved it since it was close to where I live and the rally was fun. Many members came together to donate in exchange for a tutu and ape ears kit. During the prep, spirit cheers were sent to everyone, including new ones for spirit battles at FRN. The cheers weren't too complicated and we were able to learn most of them well, especially the basic ones that aren't specific to our division. We also got some time to work on our tutus and make them together. Overall, I liked the prep day since it was easy and fun to learn cheers together!

MARCELA ZARAGOZA-PADILLA ARAGON At D34N’s first FRN Prep we got together as a division to prepare for the upcoming Fall Rally North on October 23rd. We made aqua ape ears, tutus, and practiced our cheers for the spirit rally. This is where we will compete with other divisions! Since this is our first FRN in a while, everyone was really excited at the prep. Our division leadership team's spirit committee helped guide us through the steps towards making FRN even more fun!

SANJNA SOOD CARLMONT

On September 18th, our division had our very first FRN Prep. It was at a park in San Mateo. We learned cheers, such as our competition cheers and “How do you feel cheers.” We also had the chance to buy some spirit gear, such as tutus, ape ears and stickers. I bought a tutu, and got aqua and yellow tulle. FRN is going to be one of my first big events of the 2021-2022 term, and I am so excited. I can’t wait to see everyone at the next FRN Preps!

CATRIN JASSYNBAYEV LOWELL

21 . On September 18th, I went to the first FRN Prep at San Mateo Central Park. We first gathered to learn all of the cheers for the FRN rally. I knew a few, but some were new! Then we had the chance to purchase and make merchandise that we could wear at Fall Rally North. I made some ape ears. At the end, we all said goodbye, but I went with some other key clubbers to Sweet Moment to get boba. I had a great time and can’t wait until the next FRN Prep!

KAELYN FUNG MILLS The first FRN prep I attended was near the Japanese flower garden. I was able to see some familiar faces. I was able to meet someone from my elementary school who now goes to Jefferson High School. The chants at first seemed kind of hard, but later on people got the hang of it. Overall the event was great.

TIMOTHY LEE WESTMOOR FRN Prep Day #1 was really fun. It was shorter than I thought it would be. Everyone was really nice and I actually made a couple of new friends. I also bought tutus and ape ears that I’m gonna make. I’m so excited for FRN!

AKANSHA KUMAR SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO

Our first Fall Rally North (FRN) Prep was held at Central Park in San Mateo. We had loads of members attend to learn cheers and make spirit gear. Attendees had the opportunity to make their own ape ears and skirts and connect with other members in the division prior to FRN. I had loads of fun learning the cheers and meeting new people at the event. Making spirit gear was also a great experience!

LINA SALEH CARLMONT The first FRN prep was a lot of fun. We got to practice the cheers and make tutus for FRN. It was really nice seeing everyone together all practicing the cheers. We spent the majority of the time learning the cheers and some time was spent getting the materials for tutus. Overall, it was great seeing everyone.

regional training conference ! RTC 2021 was finally held in person this year at Camp Jones Gulch from October 2nd to 3rd! All attendees were required to provide proof of vaccination. As a joint event between regions 9 and 17, I was able to meet so many other key clubbers from divisions around us. Throughout the day, we attended workshops presented by the LTGs and spent time with our individual groups. At the end of the day on Saturday, we had a campfire where each group showed off the cheer and skit they came up with. I'm very proud to say that the Girl Scouts won first for skits :) RTC was the first large-scale in person event we have had in a long while and hopefully, it is one of many to come. I made connections with amazing people whom I hope to see again at future events!

EVAN YANG ARAGON

As a freshman and a new member of Key Club, RTC was a great event to welcome me and teach about leadership, service, and taking opportunities. While it was a training conference, in no way did it ever become repetitive or dull. The energy was unmatched, and the surprises never ended. As someone who isn’t too talkative, it was hard for me to network as much as everyone else, but even then I made a couple friends. However, it’s something I would definitely try to do more of if I get a chance next year!

MELODY CHEN ARAGON

I attended my first in person region training conference this month and I enjoyed every moment of it! Regions 9 and 17 came together for a one night retreat and it felt like everyone was one whole family. I’m so glad I went because I got to make so many new friends and meet people I haven’t met before. My favorite part was the bonfire and all the groups coming together competing in spirit. I’d also like to thank all of our LTGS for running this amazing event. It was such an eye-opening experience and I can’t wait for more upcoming big events.

GABY EJERCITO ARAGON

23 . To kick off October, Regions 9 and 17 hosted a successful Region Training Conference at Camp Jones Gulch! With over 250 members attending, we were able to all bond at our campfire session, learn from the countless workshops offered, and listen to amazing talents. Alongside that, members had to solved the Murder Myste-RTC and figure out who was the culprit…or culprits 👀 Thanks to their hard work, we caught the people behind it and made new friends along the way! Also sidenote: my group, the hikers, won the campfire competition which is pretty cool ;))

COURTNEY TAI ARAGON This RTC was a lot of fun. It was my second time going in-person, so I really tried to make it count. I had such a great time getting to know my group and bonding even more with my club. We got to attend workshops and create skits as well as cheers. My favorite part was the campfire and seeing everyone perform their skits. Overall, I had such a great time and I can’t wait to go next year!

ANNA ABELGAS ARAGON

My first and last RTC was a great experience that I’ll never forget. I was super excited to attend and not only bond with my fellow home-club members, but those outside of our division. I enjoyed the various suggestions that I will be taking to improve club relations as well as fundraising ideas for PTP. My favorite part of the event would have to be the campfire. It was such a touching experience seeing everyone come together to sing songs and perform skits. I’ve definitely had a fair share of laughs with other Key Clubbers and I would not exchange this experience for the world :))

Catrin has been an amazing VP of Service. She is always on top of her work: asking members for articles and visuals as soon as events end, turning in everything on time, and thinking of great fundraiser ideas. By going above and beyond in all her tasks, she’s helped Lowell keep our high spot in the banana point standings. She's constantly participating in service events, has a super fun personality, and is a great asset to our board.

This club has become really active on the division level. Their officers have stayed on top of their tasks, and they’ve consistently attended division-level events and beyond, including RTC and plans to attend FRN. Not only that, but they’ve also been holding their own glitter fundraiser on their own initiative, and have remained active in their communication. This club has really demonstrated what it means to go above and beyond as a club, and serves as an example for the rest.

Hillsdale

Mr. Wong is an amazing advisor who consistently looks out for his respective Key Club. He is always eager to help drive students who want to attend club and division events when he is available and also volunteers with us whenever he gets the chance. Mr. Wong is always on top of what forms and requirements for transportation are needed for students to attend bigger events. He is very reliable and someone who dedicates a lot of time and effort into making Key Club a welcoming place at Jefferson! We are honored to have him as an advisor.

ARAGON In the month of October Aragon Key Club attended RTC. Our officers and members had a lot of fun being able to see everyone at Camp Jones Gulch. We also focused a lot of our time at FRN preps. We even hosted some of our own FRN preps for our members. We had about 20 people attend FRN. For the rest of the month we spent a majority of our time planning a PTP and Breast Cancer Awareness Face Glitter Fundraiser for our school.

CARLMONT Throughout the month of September, Carlmont Key Club participated in their school's second club fair and recruited many more interested members. They held more in-person service events like the Palo Alto Moonlight Run and Coastal Cleanup. Additionally, they held boba fundraisers at football games, an ongoing Krispy Kreme Fundraiser, and a homework social via zoom! In terms of October, we have eight different types of service events lined up for their members. They partnered up with their local community organizations to provide more opportunities for their volunteers, such as, Belmont Water Dog Run, Second Harvest, Laurel Street Clean Up, AYSO, Healthy City Tutoring, and more! They will also be attending many more division events and FRN!

EL CAMINO In the month of September, El Camino ramped up many club activities for new members recruited during the club rush in August. There were two major fundraisers for us: a Tpumps fundraiser at school and the September DCM, where we sold pizza and boba. Some of the funds will go towards charities, such as PTP, and some will go into the club funds. There were also several service events in September, such as the 2021 Coastal Cleanup Day and an Ocean Beach cleanup. In October, there will be another fundraiser and the UNICEF trick-or-treat program.

HILLSDALE In the month of September, Hillsdale Key Club attended many events such as FRN Prep #1, Newbee Social, Graphics Workshop, and the September Dares DCM. Hillsdale continues to hold our weekly club meetings and monthly board meetings. Hillsdale Key Club is also working on coming up with fun service events and fundraiser ideas, and as always, trying to recruit new members. We look forward to events such as RTC and continue to encourage our members to go to the upcoming FRN Preps so we can have lots of members attend Fall Rally North!

JEFFERSON Throughout the month of September, Jefferson has attended multiple division and club events like the first spirit prep, the newbee social, the dcm, a coastal clean up, food pantry, and the SF marathon. We have been preparing members to go to Fall Rally North, as our club planned a spirit prep on October 8th for members to learn cheers. Towards the end of the month, the officer board chose three members to award for their consistent efforts to participate in Key Club as well as a raffle with a prize of one dozen donuts from Krispy Kreme. We also had our intern interviews, which went smoothly, and are going to announce the people in October!

LOWELL During the month of September, Lowell Key Club held a beach cleanup event at Ocean Beach and held a booth at our school’s club fair. At the beach cleanup, we walked along the beach and picked up trash and were rewarded with pasta afterwards. At our school club fair, officers promoted our club using spirit sticks and Key Club merch! In addition to club events, members attended the September Dares DCM and both FRN preps. This upcoming month, Lowell is hosting the third FRN Prep/October DCM and getting ready for FRN!

MILLS Over the past couple of weeks, Mills has worked on attending FRN Preps and other division events, such as the September Dares DCM, in preparation for Fall Rally North and in order to retain recently recruited members. We had our club fair on the 21st of September, where we received over 30 sign ups. Our first meeting was the day after on the 22nd where at least 2/3 of those that signed up came. As for upcoming events, we are currently planning for our "Food Fair" here at Mills, where each club gets the opportunity to sell food for higher prices in order to fundraise for their clubs. We are planning to fundraise for Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF, as well, and are finalizing on logistics for FRN on October 23rd.

NOTRE DAME For September, Notre Dame has had lots of great successes. First, we had an informational first general meeting that has 84 people in attendance. and many of the underclassmen were especially interested in larger events like FRN and DCON. Two weeks later, we had our first normal general meeting with a service project and 40 people attended. We also got an article written about us and our success at club fair. As usual, our members have also been consistently attending division-level events. We are planning for fundraisers and FRN, and more club-level service events. We are also planning for dues season and are already promoting the benefits that come with paying dues. Open house for Notre Dame will be in late October and we are also preparing resources for it, including more brochures and information that targets parents.

WESTMOOR For the past month, we have continued our weekly general meetings, which have had consistent attendance. Our Club Fair was a success, which has helped to slightly increase our membership. We have held two of our own club FRN Preps where we taught cheers to our members. We have collaborated with our school's UNICEF Club to have members participate in their annual Trick Or Treat Fundraiser. We have continued attending division events such as the first D34N FRN Prep and the September Dares DCM. We are currently in the process of collecting dues, and we have some upcoming socials and service events planned for the month of October. We are also preparing to go to FRN.
