Happy Holidays, Aqua Apes! AHHH! I can’t believe that this is the end on 2021! We’ve all come a long way and have faced so many new challenges. It’s the final stretch! Remind yourselves to take time to destress and to take breaks during finals season. To my fellow seniors, please remember that college is not the end-all be-all of your life’s success. We will all grow in beautifully unique ways, so let us trust the process and take life one step at a time. Key Clubbers, I hope you all have a wonderful December filled with Holiday cheer and quality time with your loved ones. As we near the end of this year, keep in mind that there are only a couple months left of the term! Contest deadlines are approaching, elections are coming up, and many more service events are in line for the near future. As always, I hope you enjoy this issue of The Banana Chronicles! This issue is a bit short, as mid October to mid November was mainly focused on FRN. Fill out the DNE and LTG Challenges, if you get the chance, for extra banana points. Thanks for reading!
Cheers,
Kaelyn Fung

Happy Holidays, Aqua Apes! Congratulations to all my seniors for making it through UC applications :,) you're almost done! It's crazy to think that we're already nearing the end of the year and will be starting elections for a new term soon! I know finals are approaching for everyone, but we're almost on winter break! We just need to push a little more. You'll notice in this month's newsletter that we still have many fun events to celebrate the holiday season together! Make sure to register for Holiday-a-thon and our December DCM for some fun games and service opportunities, and our Candidate Training Conference for those interested in running for Lt. Governor! It's also not too late for members to pay their dues! The on-time deadline has already passed but members can pay their dues up until April 1st (DCON), so keep on promoting! Other than that, we want you all to enjoy the holiday season and spend plenty of time with your family and friends. Thank you to all the officers and members for working so hard this term and making it a great year. Can't wait for what 2022 will bring!
Thanks,
Courtney Tai

5. Sup Aqua Apes! I can’t believe it is already December! We are about to reach the end of the year and I just want to say I am proud of all the things you guys have accomplished so far in this term. I saw many of you take part in many service events as well as contributing to fundraisers when possible. Make sure to keep on a lookout for new events from the Division such as ones suited for the Holidays because I assure you that they will be super fun! Finals may be coming up in your school soon, but make sure to prioritize your health when needed. Winter break is around the corner, which is a great time for all of us to relax as you all deserve it. As always, I hope to see you guys at many future events, and feel free to reach out to me if you need anything or just want to talk. See you guys next year!
Thanks! Sean Sygaco Executive Assistant 122017ss@gmail.com
What’s Up, Aqua Apes! I literally had the most fun at this DCM and was so happy to see you guys. To all the Bay Area Boba Baddies out there, you are badder and better than those around you and you need to hold your head up high because of that! A little tip to help combat the burnout is to create a study schedule where you block your hours with certain tasks. It really helps me with focusing and getting work done cause I know some of you guys are chapters behind in notes and don't worry, so am I :) Hopefully, you guys are keeping up with your service and attended the San Bruno park clean-up to get them hours in! Finals and college apps approach us, so stay resilient and we can push through to winter break where we can take a long break. We are almost there Aqua Apes!
Good Luck <3 John Hillyard Executive Assistant jshihillyard@gmail.com
6. Sup Aqua Apes! Hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving, I am grateful for you all!!! Get ready for the Holiday-A-Thon with D34S, I know I’m super excited for it so I hope to see you all there. Winter break is almost here and so is finals, but I know you’ll all do great. Be sure to pace yourself and make sure not to stress out too much (treat yourself for Christmas :))! To my seniors, good luck on the rest of your apps; YOU GOT THIS💪
Thank You! Jasmine Bao Division Secretary jasbao777@gmail.com
Hey, Aqua Apes! I hope you all have had a good month so far! We started off with a bang, with FRN. While I was unable to go to this event, I know that many people from our division did, and I hope you all had fun! The event looked very exciting and I hope new members were able to get a good impression of Key Club. In addition, we have started a fundraiser that is known as Boba Battles! Personally, I thought this event was a great way to fundraise because I was able to get boba with my home club and have fun with them, while simultaneously raising money for PTP. I am excited to see who wins, and despite whatever the results are, I'm proud of my AB(oba)Gs! You have all worked hard to support our team and I am very grateful for your efforts. Now, we have the November DCM to look forward to. At this event, my home club (NDB) will also be collecting food for our Thanksgiving food drive! My club will be personally delivering and sending out the food, so I hope a majority of our division is able to support our drive. I can't wait for the holiday season (and the events that come with it, wink) and I hope to see you all soon!
Thanks! Kristi Xia Executive Assistant kxia23@ndhsb.org

number two I got to lead the second FRN Prep along with Ariel from the Spirit Committee and Courtney! We all met on the bleachers and started rehearsing the cheers, starting with our basic ones such as how do you feel and GOOD JOB. We then went over all of the cheers we performed for FRN and I got pretty out of breath at one point. It was a great experience seeing our division and everyone displaying their spirit and I think we all bonded over this.
JOHN HILLYARD ARAGON At the second FRN prep, we gathered at Westborough Park and learned cheers. The weather was extra sunny and it was great seeing everyone come together! It was my first FRN prep of the term so I was surprised to see the new cheers created by the spirit team. Our club also sold bucket hats and we ran out of our stock that day! I loved seeing everyone working together to get their spirit gear ready and I look forward to more events like this in the future. At our division’s second FRN prep, we gathered at a park in SSF. There were so many Key Clubbers and it was fun to meet lots of new people! The DLT taught us the “How do you feel” cheer, our three big ones, and some of the smaller cheers. We repeated them a few times until people could almost do them without using phones. It was fun to hear our cheers together and be part of it! After the prep, we had time to talk to other clubs and even buy spirit gear.

8. On October 16, there was a DCM at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco! There was FRN prep, but also a service project for those not attending FRN. We decorated rocks with paint and markers, and placed them around the park! It was a great experience meeting and talking to new people!
BROOKE ANDERSON NOTRE DAME FRN Prep # 3 was the last practice for the division to practice their cheers for Fall Rally North. It was also the day where clubs could pick up their merchandise for their members to wear at Fall Rally North. I enjoyed going to FRN Prep #3 because we were able to get together as a division to prepare for Fall Rally North.
The October DCM hosted by Lowell was an event jam-packed with so much for all members! The meeting started off with club updates and our DLT going over upcoming events. We also celebrated all of the division’s successes over the past month, highlighting our Amazing Apes and the PTP fundraising from the last DCM. For the next portion, members had the option to participate in a FRN prep or do a Kindness Rocks service project. Members were also able to pick up spirit gear in preparation for FRN next week!

D C Kindness Rocks M The October DCM was a great way to bond with fellow members. Although I was unable to attend the FRN Prep #3, the Division’s cheers were loud enough I could hear them from far away! The Kindness Rocks service portion was a fun way to incorporate a small service portion and spread positivity at the same time. I personally painted smiley faces on a rock and a brick. Overall, the October DCM was a fun way to destress and meet new people.
CRYSTAL CHU ARAGON October DCM, happened on October 16th, 2021. It was hosted by Lowell High School at Golden Gate Park. During our October DCM we also held our third and final division FRN Prep! Before going into FRN prep, we did our usual division updates, and I also got Officer of the Month! We continued to learn our cheers and master them. We also got to paint Kindness Rocks for those that couldn’t make it to FRN or just for fun. Kindness Rocks was where we got to paint rocks with the available paint given to us, or brought ourselves. The goal of painting these rocks was to spread positivity and give a smile on someone’s face. Our division was also selling stickers and several other merchandise for FRN and for us in general. Overall, we had a good time and it was a great bonding experience. I’m glad that I got to meet new people at this event.
CATRIN JASSYNBAYEV LOWELL During the third FRN Prep, key clubbers gathered at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco to practice rally chants and get division club gear. Those that had already gone to two preps were offered the chance to participate in a service event called Kindness Rocks. Overall, I had a great experience (although, chanting in a circle at an open park is quite cult-like lol). Our club got boba afterwards, too!

11 . This weekend at Key Clubs Fall Rally North at Six Flags was truly a great and fun experience. It has been years since the last rally, and yet the positive energy and spirit was still there. At Fall Rally North, I met tons of new people, got to bond with my division, and rode the rides at six flags. During the rally, we did our best to cheer as loud as we could, and in my opinion we totally cheered the loudest. The other division's cheers were amazing as well, every division did so great. The spirits sticks everyone made were so cool, they were tall, and very outstanding. Our first FRN back was honestly so amazing, it was nice to be a part of it.
SABA WADIWALA LOWELL
FRN was an amazing experience and I got to meet so many new people while my friends and I stood in lines for rides. Even though it was gloomy and occasionally raining or sprinkling, I still had an amazing time at the Rally. I enjoyed watching other divisions cheer and seeing how synchronized they were. Although we didn’t win, it was still fun to participate in FRN.
SERENA CHOI MILLS
Fall Rally North was a lot of fun! We went to Six Flags and went on rides and did our spirit battles. My favorite part was definitely seeing everyone in their key club gear and seeing all the different divisions. My group in particular went on a bunch of fun rides as well!! Overall, I had so much fun at my first FRN and can’t wait to go next year!!
ANNA ABELGAS ARAGON I think frn went pretty smoothly considering the fact that it was raining. It was fun seeing people from different schools come together as a division. One thing I enjoyed a lot was cheering for other divisions during the rally. The rally could have been better if we were able to see our division leaders giving us signals on when to cheer for other divisions. As a whole division we could have worked on memorizing the chants better. Overall it was really fun and memorable!
JENNY ZHU LOWELL

I had such a fun time at this year’s FRN! It was cool to see all of the other divisions and clubs at Six Flags. The main event itself was an amazing experience, even though our division didn’t make it to the second round. I am so glad I went to the event with my friends, and I am so happy that I was able to make new connections. I hope to go next year!
ISABELLE ABULENCIA LOWELL Key Club hosted an event at Vallejo California Six Flags. Each division made their own chants and they chanted them competitively to see who has the most spirit. The division leaders also were "auctioned" off to spend time with the divisions who won the bidding. I really liked how the event took place at Six Flags because it provided an incentive to those who were less inclined to show up just for the spirit. We could have fun with the rides, hang out with our friends, and still show Key Club spirit. Fall rally North was such a great experience. I think that it is a great cause because many divisions from the California, Nevada, and Hawaii district come together and cheer to raise money for the Pediatric Trauma Program. I enjoyed going to FRN because I got to cheer for a good cause and ride roller coasters at Six Flags which was a bonus. I also got to meet people from other divisions and make new friends. Overall, I am glad that I got another opportunity to go to FRN and hopefully I get to go again soon!

13 . This past weekend was Key Club’s annual Fall Rally North at Six Flags! It’s been a long time since the last FRN, so we were all super excited. Both new and returning members attended, and it was fun to bond while cheering and going on rides. Lowell took a charter bus to FRN, which was filled with excitement and quiet practice for the spirit rally. We cheered our loudest at the rally and loved hearing the other divisions’ cheers! When it started to get dark, Key Clubbers started to turn on the lights on their spirit sticks and crowns, and it was so cool to see! So glad our first FRN back was a success!
On Saturday, October 23rd, Mills Key Club joined D34N at the annual Fall Rally North at Six Flags, where thousands of key clubbers from across the CNH District gathered to raise money for PTP! Not going to lie, the rain made the rally sort of gloomy, but the day was filled with spirit, nonetheless, and we still had a ton of fun! I am just grateful that we were allowed to hold FRN this year, as last year’s was cancelled. As a group Mills key clubbers went on rides like The Joker, ate some pretty expensive Mexican food, rode many rides (including one that got two of us very wet), and replied to enthusiastic cheers of “How do you feel?!” phrases. Overall, although I wish it hadn’t rained, I am still enormously grateful for going and getting to be a part of raising so much money for PTP to help kids in need.

KAELYN FUNG MILLS On October 24th, we went to FRN! It was my final time going and I was incredibly sad thinking about it afterwards. I was able to bond with underclassmen and really get to know them which was really nice. It was very fun watching the crowds go crazy during the spirit rally and auctioning. I was able to meet with friends I had made online in the previous term which I was extremely excited for and it was great meeting new people as well! I hope this experience positively impacts the views of our members the same way it did during my first FRN.

Gale has been an active member of Aragon Key Club for the duration of her membership. She provides outgoing energy and is welcoming to Aragon's officers and all members whether they be inside or outside of Aragon. She's very motivated to learn about Key Club and introduce new members, even going as far as to ask "how do you feel" during the school day. Specifically, she helped fundraise for Aragon's glitter fundraiser during one of our football games and attends events most Key Clubbers wouldn't.

Jessy is an extremely hardworking officer, she's always early with her deadlines and gets all her tasks done! You'll often see her welcoming and getting to know new members at meetings and we love her energy. She's always able to make it to events and board meetings no matter how exhausted she is from work which we all deeply appreciate.

Belinda graciously volunteered to chaperone at both RTC and FRN, sacrificing her own free time for these events. She was very responsive when planning transportation, and more than willing to provide rides for members! Her generosity makes her well-deserving for Advisor of the Month!

Our club of the month has shown great initiative: organizing their own fundraiser for PTP/Breast Cancer Awareness in October, hosting club FRN preps for their members to attend, and keeping up great communication with each other and the DLT. They also actively participated in their visitation and are very involved on the division level. During our division boba battles, they also actively bought drinks and had the most purchases out of the entire division, demonstrating their involvement and enthusiasm.

CARLMONT Over the past month of October, Carlmont held 8 different service events for our members. We had AYSO all-stars volunteering, second harvest, and many more! We had also helped at the Goblin walk and handed out trick-or-treat bags to the trick or treaters. Additionally, we sold boba at our homecoming football game and dance. Our Krispy Kreme Fundraiser is still ongoing :) For the month of November, we will have 6 service events, 2 with second harvest. We are also hosting more events at Carlmont after school and even during our club meetings! We plan to attend many more division events as well.
HILLSDALE In the month of October Hillsdale members and officers attended events such as Regional Training Conference, Fall Rally North, FRN Preps, and the October DCM. At the October DCM we were awarded club of the month and acknowledged for our glitter fundraiser which raised money for PTP. We have also been holding regular general meetings and board meetings and preparing for the November DCM which will be hosted by Hillsdale.
JEFFERSON For the month of October, Jefferson Key Club was able to attend FRN! All the members had a wonderful time. We also hosted club service events, like the Chinatown Car Show and Sunday Streets, where the member turnout was great! Up until now, we had to raise our club's service hour goal since we passed it, which is now 900 hours before December. As for fundraising, we had a TPumps fundraiser after school, where we were able to sell out. We also have a Unicef Box competition, where members can collect donations to win prizes. We are very excited to be approaching November!
DNE CHALLENGE: Small or big, what are three things you are grateful for today?

LOWELL During the month of October, Lowell Key Club members attended FRN Preps in preparation for Fall Rally North. We had a lot of fun meeting other Key Clubbers, cheering, and going on rides at FRN! We’ve started attending service events more frequently, like the Walk to Alzheimer’s event where members volunteered by cheering on walkers. That same weekend, we had an interclub with Galileo at the World Tree of Hope event, where we ironed paper cranes in preparation for the lighting of the Christmas tree at Grace Cathedral. We continue to have weekly general meetings and have more service events lined up for November!
MILLS During the month of October, Mills has directed most time and effort towards accumulating dues payments and managing FRN-related tasks. Mills key clubbers have attended division FRN Preps in preparation of Fall Rally North, and finally got to attend FRN on the 23rd of October at Six Flags in Vallejo. After FRN, we began to transition back into our normal flow of things. We have participated in recent November division events and fundraisers, such as the Boba Battles, George's Joke Books, etc. We expect to attend the online greetings event on Nov. 13th, participate in the Thanksgiving food drive, and go to the November DCM.
NOTRE DAME Notre Dame Key Club has been very busy this month. At the beginning of the month, we had a few people attend RTC and they had lots of fun, meeting new people and learning more about Key Club from the workshops. We also had some attend the October DCM, and while it was in SF, members had fun participating in the Kindness Rock service project. Now at the end of the month, the board has been working very hard to get our Thanksgiving Food Drive up and running. We hope that many people from the division are able to support our club with this drive and help bring joy to families for Thanksgiving! Our club also was represented at Open House and the event was very successful, as we passed out many brochures and many parents stopped by our booth. We are planning for Notre Dame Night, which is an event similar to Open House, and for our Thanksgiving Food Drive.
22 .
SAN MATEO This month, we continued our weekly club meetings. The club officers have started to promote and collect dues. At each meeting we focus on club bonding and we continue to recruit members. We had members and officers attend the Division Council Meeting and Fall Rally North preparation events. We have been promoting these events as well as other division events such as Key To College. Also, we promoted club level events that we made and volunteer opportunities and drives that are set up through our school. We have also been planning fundraisers and service events for the month of November.
WESTMOOR For the past month, we have mainly been focusing on attending division events. We prepared for FRN while our members attended FRN Preps. Everything for our club went mostly smoothly for the actual FRN event, and everyone had fun. We held a service event where we wrote cards to the military. We also collaborated with our school's Musical Club for a Game Social to help bond with our members. We have collected many dues, nearly reaching our goal. Our collaboration with our school's UNICEF Club for the Trick Or Treat Fundraiser is still ongoing. We plan to have more service opportunities and a possible fundraiser in our school coming up soon.
