Lieutenant Governor’s Message I hope you have all smoothly transitioned into the new school year and thoroughly enjoyed your summer!

With the start of school also comes many new opportunities to gain new members from your school. Publicize your club at orientation, club rush, and even back to school night to talk to parents. Make big eye-catching posters to have up at tables, display and wear your spirit gear from previous years, and make sure you are friendly and approachable. You want to make sure you are giving off that positive and cheerful Key Club vibe. In addition to holding booths at school events, you could also hang up posters around your school (with school permission), have Key Club featured in school announcements, hand out brochures, and pin people with club meeting information. Let’s also not forget the entire world of Social Media! Don’t forget to publicize your club through Facebook overlays, Instagram #hashtags, and even creating Snapchat geofilters! Do you know what is also around the corner? Region Training Conference and dues! Both of these are very important and you should make sure you are planning ahead to deal with both of them. Region Training Conference will be from September 30th - October 1st at Camp Jones Gulch and provides multiple leadership growth opportunities for each and every member of the 10 attending divisions. I strongly encourage every one of you to attend this life changing experience. What are dues you ask? Dues are the reason that Key Club is able to survive and enable us to do the great things we do. Members pay money to the club to become an official member and all the money collected will be used to help our preferred charities and organization as a whole. Dues will start being collected on October 1st so save up your money! That’s all for now Aqua Apes, do not hesitate to contact me with questions, comments, or concerns! Have a great start of the school year everyone.

Please contact me if you have any questions :-) See you all soon! With the spirit of service, Kayla Tai Division 34 North Lieutenant Governor

Club Sum

Our club has attended the ocean beach

Carlmont

cleanup on July 29th and we plan to do a couple of events in the next few weeks. On the 15th of August we will be presenting our club to the incoming freshmen during their orientation and shortly afterwards we will have our August Board Meeting. We will also be attending the San Carlos Family Campout from the 18th to the 19th and hope to make it a pleasurable experience for those who attend. -Jonathan Deridal

In the month of July, most of South City’s of-

ficers were out of town. We managed to have a 3 hour board meeting and got the following months planned out in terms of member recruitment and fundraisers. We also attended the division wide beach cleanup. Many of us have also started our FRN prep. -Kristie Poon

This past month we held a fundraiser for Al-

L

ex's Lemonade Stand, but with a twist. Instead of selling lemonade, we sold a combination of lemon and other flavor boba. We also had some people attend the Ocean Beach Clean Up. Lastly we had our Freshmen Orientation yesterday, which I think turned out pretty well.

mmaries For Westmoor Key Club, the first day of

Westmoor

schooled approached a lot quicker that many other schools. We started on August 10th. During these past few weeks, we have been making final preparations for our August DCM such as obtaining supplies, as well as finding a hospital to donate to. We have also been searching for volunteering events for our members, and are getting ready for our Club Fair, which is on September 1st. Furthermore, we are brainstorming ideas on what to do with the leftover t-shirts from Fall Rally North, and are planning to send the top 5 members with the most service hours to Fall Rally North for free. -Samantha Chen

T

San Mateo

his month, San Mateo High's Key Club was focused on preparing for our new school year. This month concluded the development of our club website, the creation of a rewards system, and many other resources that were set up to make Key Club an enjoyable experience. These resources and projects have been created to make it easier to host events and recognize outstanding members in our community. We plan on using the rest of this month to improve our communication, and to plan events for the upcoming school year. Hopefully, this will all help being a part of Key Club an easy and fun choice.

Aids Walk SF

I

Eve

had such a great time rooting on the participants at the AIDS Walk with Jac and Melody, whom I met and became friends with at the event. It was also fun helping out when the 44 O'Shaughnessy needed to drive through the walk. Some bikers were understanding and stopped when I blocked the lane, but others just sped past me and almost rammed into the bus. Overall, it was an amazing experience and I can't wait to help out again next year (along with half the bottle of sunscreen lathered on my face because I got sunburned! -Katie Huang

July On July 22, 2017, 24 Key Club

members and 5 advisors gathered at Ryder Court Park, San Mateo for a Division Council Meeting. For Banana Points Recognition, Carlmont is finally in the lead! However, it is anybody's game when it comes to banana points, so Carlmont will continue to work hard to maintain the lead! For lunch, D34N raised money for PTP as they sold delicious Korean BBQ. There was also a fun ice breaker game of human knot. After a long attempt to make a circle after creating a twisting, stepping over and under, and communication all around. We also played another game which was similar to hide and seek. This was a perfect activity as taggers would have to know a person’s name in order to eliminate them and keep them from winning. This DCM was a lot of fun because I got to meet many new people from D34 North. -Naomi Cinque Carllmont Key Club
