NIKOS KAZANTZAKIS’ WORKS TAUGHT AT THE UNIVERSITY OF BUENOS AIRES At the University of Buenos Aires, in Argentina, the words of Nikos Kazantzakis have resonated within the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters for the past two years, because of the initiative of Neohellenist Professor Miguel Angel Chiovetta. The Argentinian Professor, who is affectionately known among his students as “El Griego”, taught himself the Greek language through the rigorous study of Greek literature. It is this desire, to transmit to his students the Hellenic spirit, that led him to introduce to them the works of Nikos Kazantzakis. So when Professor Chiovetta contacted the Kazantzakis Publications through our official website, inquiring after the three volumes containing Nikos Kazantzakis’s theatrical plays, Niki P. Stavrou responded by sending three complimentary copies for him and his students.
Following Professor Chiovetta’s invitation, Niki P. Stavrou, travelled to Argentina on November 17, 2011, and delivered a lecture at the renowned Faculty of Philosophy and Letters of the University of Buenos Aires.

Niki Stavrou awarded the Professor, on behalf of the Kazantzakis Publications [Patroclos Stavrou] with an honorary plaque for his contribution in the dissemination of Nikos Kazantzakis’ works in the Spanish speaking world, which was enthusiastically applauded by his students. Each one of them, strikingly knowledgeable on the life and works of Nikos Kazantzakis and deeply enchanted by the Hellenic culture and literature, brought their unique and distinct talent in the group. The mesmerizing recitation of Susana Mora and the extraordinary drawings of Julio Enrique Brugos, based on the theatrical works of Nikos Kazantzakis did justice to their professor’s efforts to transmit to all of them his love for Nikos Kazantzakis. His wish is that they may one day come to Greece to learn how to speak the language of Nikos Kazantzakis and so they may be able to read his works directly from the original, like their Professor.

MESSAGE FROM THE KAZANTZAKIS PUBLICATIONS [PATROCLOS STAVROU]
NEWSLETTER – FALL 2011
MESSAGE FROM THE KAZANTZAKIS PUBLICATIONS [PATROCLOS STAVROU] In the works of Nikos Kazantzakis each person, irrespective of color, race, ethnicity, and creed may find all the necessary spiritual tools to overcome adversity. The ascent to redemption was always a high ideal for Kazantzakis, and “reach what you cannot” was his saying. In his fictional autobiography Report to Greco, he expounded the symbolic prayer of three different Souls: THREE SOULS, THREE PRAYERS: A. I AM A BOW IN YOUR HANDS, LORD; DRAW ME LEST I ROT B. DO NOT OVERDRAW ME LORD, LEST I BREAK C. OVERDRAW ME LORD, AND LET ME BREAK! As the Third Soul, we at the Kazantzakis Publications, through our work and prayer, attend to the tireless seeker of God, that author who, through his inimitable writing and exemplary ethos emerged a champion of intellect and virtue, that author, who, in his agonizing quest for the dark face of God that he might become one with Him, offers to each reader self-awareness, deliverance, leonine food for the Mind and Soul.
