Sept. 19: Celebrate Culture

COURTESY CONCORD MULTICULTURAL FESTIVAL

The Concord Multicultural Festival began in the mid-2000s when Concord was resettling an influx of refugees. The festival was started as a way to introduce the cultures of our newest community members, and for the community to welcome their new neighbors. Over the years, the festival has steadily grown in popularity and in size and is now one of the city’s most anticipated events, drawing people from all over the region. The festival features delicious foods, en-

may have come from different lands, and of course the people whose land this was first. It is a celebration of and for all of us. The year’s event is Sunday, Sept. 19 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Keach Park in Concord. Keach Park is located behind the Concord Community Center on Canterbury Road, off Loudon Road. For more information about food, entertainment and vendors, visit concordnhmulticulturalfestival.org.

The Capital Arts Festival is back this year with locations throughout the city that aim to highlight the work of artists from around the region. There will be both indoor and outdoor events for the festival, which runs Sept. 24 through 26. You’ll find painting, sculpture, ceramics, jewelry, furniture and fiber arts, plus food, music and shopping. The 2021 Capital Arts Fest is hosted by the

Greater Concord Chamber of Commerce and is held in collaboration with the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen, Capitol Center for the Arts and the Concord Community Music School. Safety protocols have been put in place throughout the event. For more information about Concord’s outdoor shopping, festivals and local businesses, go to visitconcord-nh.com/capitalarts-fest.

Make a difference You still have plenty of time to sign up for two major annual October fundraisers. NAMI NH will hold its annual walk – the state’s largest mental health and suicide prevention awareness and fundraising event – virtually on Oct. 9. Sign up or donate at naminh.org.
