reetings, and welcome to the third issue of Kitchen Bath Trends by Whitehaus! I am so excited to be publishing another issue of the printed magazine, and we couldn’t have done it without your support! There are five sections to the printed magazine, which differ from the online edition. The sections are: Trends, Style, Featured, Products and From the Blog. The Trends section takes a deeper look into kitchen and bath trends, and how Whitehaus is maintaining its reputation as a leader in the industry. The Style section is back and better than ever, spotlighting some of our favorite kitchen and bath styles. Featured is a brief section spotlighting a fabulous designer from New York, and Products is where you can find articles on everything from new to classic Whitehaus fixtures. In From the Blog, we feature some of your favorite weekly articles from the website, presenting them in a new medium. This third issue of Kitchen Bath Trends by Whitehaus is an amazing accomplishment by my staff. Without their hard, diligent work, this magazine would not come to be. I would be remiss if I did thank Suzanne Sokolov and the designers at Showcase Kitchens of Long Island, without whom many of these pages would lack beautiful photography. We appreciate your support, and are so happy to have you as a reader of Kitchen Bath Trends by Whitehaus! Live with style,

The kitchen is the heart of the home. It’s where you do everything from prepping meals to entertaining, reading the news to getting ready for the day. However, if you have children, certain areas of the kitchen can become hazardous and hectic. We’ve compiled some tips for creating a mature space that’s also kid-friendly.

Half wall & open concept A half wall is a great way to add the feel of an open concept without losing ample storage space. You can have cabinet space, as well as an area to serve dishes, on the kitchen side and still be able to keep an eye on children on the living area side while cooking or entertaining.

Family bulletin boards Having a large bulletin board makes organizing schedules and planning a breeze. It’s the perfect place to hang a calendar, artwork, and pictures for a fun, personalized hub in the kitchen.

drawers, wire bins, and decorative baskets. By placing the same things in the same location every week, you can create a system that the family will become familiar with.

Helping stool A footstool is a necessity in a family-friendly kitchen; it helps shorter children reach the sink for washing hands and makes counters accessible if kids want to help with cooking. It can be an accent to the room with a fun pop of color, and can even be used by adults to reach higher cabinets or shelves.

Farmhouse sink

A front apron farmhouse sink is installed closer to the edge of the counter, making it easier for little hands to reach. Whitehaus Collection offers an array of farmhouse fireclay sinks in different sizes, patterns, and finishes to match any kitchen design. The Farmhaus Fireclay sinks are durable, stain, chip, and scratch resistant, and won’t bend due to thermal shock, making them impervious to the wear-and-tear that comes with small children. The Copperhaus farmhouse style sinks (pictured above) create a unique look and have antimicrobrial properties, making them as sanitary as they are stylish.

Easy-to-clean counters Marble and granite are both porous materials, which isn’t great for young children with a tendency for spilling. Porous counters absorb the spills and stain easily. Using materials such as stainless steel, Corian, engineered quartz, and wood make spills and messes easier to clean. They also look just as sleek and stunning as the more high-end materials and match any design style.

High shelving Inaccessible storage is equally as important as accessible storage in a family-friendly kitchen. By having high cabinets and shelving, you can keep priceless, fragile, and dangerous items out of reach, even if children stand on a chair or footstool. It’s also a good place for hiding special treats like candy or dessert.

When working with small spaces, creating a functional space without being cramped or cluttered is difficult. In the bathroom specifically, there are certain large fixtures that are integral to the space, such as the sink, tub and/or shower, and toilet. There are also accessories necessary for a complete bathroom design, such as a towel bar and toilet paper holder. Not to mention, all fixtures and spatial rationing must be up to code. We’ve come up with some quick tips to help turn your small space into a beautiful bathroom.

Wall Mount Sinks Incorporating a wall mount sink instead of a pedestal sink is an excellent design choice for smaller spaces. By mounting the sink to the wall, you free up space for storage or foot traffic. Whitehaus Collection offers a number of wall mounted sinks in a variety of shapes and sizes. In Isabella Collection and China Series alike, you can find the perfect wall mount sink to suit your space’s style.

Ditch the Door In order to comply with building codes, shower doors must swing both in and out. Using a shower curtain eliminates the extra swing space needed by a shower door. Scene photo provided by: Showcase Baths of Long Island www.showcasebath.com

Maximize the Mirror By extending the mirror to span the entire length of the wall, rather than just over the sink, you allow for more natural light and create the illusion of a bigger space. It can also be used by two people at once, maximizing the functionality of your bathroom.

Float On Floating vanities are visually pleasing in small designs, and it frees up space for smaller accessories. An added benefit to floating vanities is the cabinet storage space integrated into the design. Whitehaus Collection offers two beautiful floating vanities. The Isabella Collection model is perfect for traditional designs with its chic china sink, whereas the Noah’s Collection model is a stainless steel stunner in modern spaces.

A Single Shelf Using a vanity with a single shelf opens up the bathroom design. Beautiful baskets or fluffy folded towels can be placed under the sink for storage while also acting as accessories to the design. Isabella Collection by Whitehaus features two stylish wall mount basins with an integrated chrome shelf and towel bar. These models are perfect for designs lacking storage space. You also have space on the sink for toothbrush holders, toothpaste, and soap, which is a feature not found on most wall mount sinks.

Wall Mount Faucets Wall mount faucets are unique fixtures not found in many homes, but they are certainly a focal point. In small spaces, mounting your faucet to the wall rather than the sink or deck allows you to use a thinner sink or vanity. In Flowhaus by Whitehaus Collection, you can find modern wall mount faucets. The Flowhaus faucet has a unique, modern design sure to make a statement.

Built-On Bar

Corner Control Corner sinks make for a good use of an awkward space. They allow for more room to move around, and are also chic and unique. Isabella Collection and China Series also have fantastic corner wall mount sinks. These stylish sinks are perfect for freeing up space for storage.

Mounting your towel bar to your sink keeps the towel bar out of the way and frees up extra wall space. It also keeps towels handy for drying hands. Whitehaus offers numerous sinks with options for an integrated towel bar in Isabella Collection and China Series. These functional fixtures fit into the smallest spaces and match every design. www.kitchenbathtrends.com

T

he kitchen work triangle is an interior design practice that dates back to the 1940s. The ideology behind this layout is that you maximize efficiency in the kitchen by placing the refrigerator, range, and sink 4-9 feet apart, forming a rough equilateral triangle. This concept is best executed in closed or semi-closed kitchens. However, with the growing popularity of an open concept kitchen, homeowners and designers alike are finding that work zones are more effective than the work triangle. In the past, kitchens were strictly used to prep and store food, and all the cooking was done predominantly by one person. The work triangle was the best choice for a kitchen layout because it guaranteed the cook proximity to all essential items. Now, the kitchen has evolved into a space of socialization and cooking done by multiple chefs at once. Work zones allow several chefs to complete separate tasks in their own spaces. Because of the evolution of technology, there are also more appliances in the kitchen now than there were in the 1940s. Many homes now include a dishwasher, microwave, extra sink, separate cooktop, and wall oven, in addition to the essential sink, refrigerator, and range. With all these additions, kitchen work zones are becoming the obvious choice for a functional layout. To create effective work zones, start by grouping appliances according to their use. The

four major tasks completed in the kitchen are storage, prep, cooking, and cleaning. By grouping similar appliances together, such as the microwave, cooktop, and oven in once group and the sink, dishwasher, and compost bin in another, you transform your kitchen into an effective work area. Also take into consideration the necessary instruments used to complete designated tasks in each zone. For example, in your prep zone, you’ll want ample counterspace to accommodate knives, mixing bowls, cutting boards, extra sinks, and any other vital tools that fit your specific needs. If you host guests often, integrating a socializing zone with a large island into your prep area is a great way to entertain while still being able to put a meal together. The storage zone is a perfect fit for your refrigerator, freezer, pantry, and cabinet space. You can create a cohesive kitchen even further by grouping your most-used food items together. Wire baskets and decorative drawers are a chic way to organize your storage into a streamlined system that you and your family will come to know as second nature. In family-friendly kitchens, it’s imperative to design a zone specifically for children. This will create a safe space for your family to do work and activities while you’re prepping a meal or doing dishes. A desk with electric outlets for laptops and shelves for books is the ideal area for children to do homework.

Idouble sinks is a tricky decision. There are pros and cons to n a larger master bathroom, choosing between single or

each option, so we compiled what needs to be considered for both before you make your choice. Double sinks are great because they give everyone more personal space. You don’t have to fight to use the sink, which can be an issue if partners are getting ready for work or a night out at the same time. You can also keep your toiletries in your own area without being cluttered by products you don’t use. Double the sinks, double the productivity.

Noah’s Collection, WHNCMB003

Double sinks seem like a no-brainer, but there are some disadvantages that come with that personal space. Not only does it cost more to purchase a second sink, but it’ll add to your plumbing bill as well. Two sinks need more space than one; you should have at least a sixfoot vanity with one foot of elbow room between them. In addition to counter space, two sinks take up more under-cabinet space with the added drainpipe. This could be a major drawback for bathrooms already lacking in storage space. If space allows, there are many options for a double sink. The most common design is a single vanity with two sinks, but giving each homeowner their own sink and vanity generates even more personal space. If you don’t need the added storage, installing two pedestal sinks is a trend that has started resurfacing in recent years. The most unique double sink design is actually using one long sink with two faucets. This gives you both the pros of single and double sinks without most of the cons.

Isabella Collection, WHKN1073

China Series, AR864-MNSLEN

Single sinks are the best choice for master bathrooms on the smaller side. Without the added vanity, you leave more room for a separate shower or tub. Not only is it cheaper to install one sink, it takes less time to clean. There’s also more storage space in the cabinets and on the counter with a single sink. While the advantages are plentiful, if you have a messy partner or one who’s a sink hog, a single sink may cause some disagreements. Whether single or double, Whitehaus Collection has all your sink needs covered. From beautiful above mounts to classic pedestals, drop-in to wall mount, and everything in between, the sink collections from Whitehaus fit every bathroom size and style. Isabella Collection and China Series give you vitreous china sinks in every shape imaginable. Noah’s Collection brings durability to your bathroom with its stainless steel sinks, while Copperhaus and Decorative Basins add drama to any design.

There are endless tips on how to organize your kitchen, but the true feat is in keeping it organized. There are some people who can clean as they cook, but they tend to be few and far between. These organization strategies are for the cooks who find they use every pot, pan, and utensil they own to make a single meal.

even when it’s full of dishes. Whitehaus Collection’s Farmhaus Fireclay front apron sinks are the perfect size for handling a bunch of pots and pans. For a more industrial look, the freestanding stainless steel sinks in Noah’s Collection by Whitehaus are large enough to stash an entire set of dishes.

When you’re cooking a meal for guests, it’s imperative to keep mess out of sight. By installing a two-tier island with a higher back, you can hide mess on the lower tier. Even if your guests are sitting on stools at the island, they’ll have a hard time seeing any clutter.

Having built-in trash receptacles is another way to keep mess hidden. You’re able to sweep trash from the counter directly into the garbage bin, and then tuck it right back into a counter.

If space allows, installing a prep sink in your island gives you a designated area to toss eggshells or scraps of ingredients while you’re cooking. It also acts as a backup sink if your main sink becomes overrun with dirty dishes. Whitehaus Collection offers prep sinks in every material from stainless steel to copper, and in every shape and size. An extra large sink is great for letting dishes accumulate. With a high front apron, you can hide stacks of pots and pans. Larger sinks also leave room for washing hands and rinsing produce, 12

Kitchen Bath Trends Magazine

Storing ingredients and utensils is great in theory, but can be time consuming in practice. You can create the illusion of counter organization with baskets and crocks. Decorative baskets housed on your counter makes it easy to stay organized. You can just toss ingredients back into their designated baskets without having to worry about making sure it’s neat and tidy. Shallow baskets are also good for confining frequently used bottles and spices. With utensils, you can keep them in crocks on your counter. This displays them neatly without a real organization system. It also keeps everything visible, instead of cluttered when jammed in a drawer.

Since the kitchen is the heart of the home, it’s imperative that it stays clean and under control. Clutter and mess can sneak up on you, so use this 7-day plan to get your kitchen back on track.

he hottest trend in home design is eco-friendly fixtures. These pieces add style to your space, but also save water, money, and the environment. If you’re not in the market to renovate your bathroom, updating outdated fixtures with new, environmentally-friendly pieces can save you the same amount of water and money without the cost of a full remodel.

strain on water resources and infrastructure. Products that are Water Sense approved, such as Whitehaus’ Magic Flush dual flush toilets, have been certified to be at least 20 percent more efficient without sacrificing performance.

A report from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) showed that toilets consume 30 percent of water usage. Replacing older toilets with new, low-flush models will help curb the gallons used per flush. Some local governments even offer government incentives to homeowners who install lowflush toilets.

You can take it one step further by installing a dual flush toilet. Whitehaus Collection offers three styles of dual flush toilets in its Magic Flush collection. There are two different flush settings on dual flush toilets: partial and full. The partial flush uses .8 gallons per flush, and the full flush uses 1.6 gallons per flush. This gives you full control over your daily water consumption. In Magic Flush, both the partial and full flushes have 600 percent more flushing power than the IAPMO standard. They’re also Water Sense approved. Water Sense is an EPA partnership program that promotes the value of water efficiency, provides consumers with easy ways to save water, encourages innovation in manufacturing, and decreases water use and reduces

In addition to saving water, the Magic Flush toilets have soft drop seats. It takes 10 seconds for the seat to fall, eliminating the accidental seat slam. Magic Flush toilets are also extremely sanitary. The toilets have glazed dropways, so there is nowhere for bacteria to form. This allows for easy cleaning of the interior, and the skirt allows for easy cleaning of the exterior. In addition to the benefits of these toilets’ functionality, they’re extremely stylish. The design of the skirts hide the tubing completely,

which is a hard feature to find anywhere else. The influence of European design brings a classy, luxurious, and trendy style to your bathroom. Another way to save water is by replacing showerheads and valves. Old showerheads use 2.5 gallons of water per minute, whereas new showerheads only use 1.5. If each member of a family of four takes a half hour shower, you’re instantly saving 120 gallons of water per day. Whitehaus offers an array of showerheads in varying shapes, sizes, and styles in both the Metrohaus and Showerhaus collections. By investing in new fixtures, you’re spending money to save money.

The Complete Guide to a Culinary Kitchen

hether you love to cook, bake, or you’re just a professional taste-tester, you need a more specialized kitchen. There are more specific elements needed to expedite the cooking process without sacrificing beauty and style. Efficiency is the key to a culinary kitchen. You want to incorporate fixtures and storage that make your cooking experience go as smooth as possible. The main element needed for a chef’s kitchen is extra prep space. A large island with a prep sink and plenty of counter space is extremely beneficial. When dishes pile up in your main sink, a prep sink becomes the perfect place to rinse vegetables or wash your hands. If your kitchen can’t accommodate an island, a rollout island is just as functional, and tucks back into the counter when it’s not being used. If you’re a regular baker, you can integrate a bake station right into your prep space. You can store your tools and equipment, such as mixers and rolling pins, in a stylish way right where you use them. A butcher block counter in this space converts your bake station into a functional place to roll dough or chop ingredients. Within your prep space should also be a tech corner. This could just be a designated area of the counter with a couple electric outlets and shelves, or an entire section of the kitchen with a desk. Stack the shelves with your favorite cookbooks, and use the outlets

to hook up a computer or tablet. With an abundance of recipes and instructional videos online, you’ll have the entire culinary world at your fingertips. For fixtures, you’ll want to choose durable pieces that will make cooking more convenient. A stainless steel sink can withstand the heaviest pots and pans, won’t scratch or stain, and requires simple care and maintenance. Noah’s Collection by Whitehaus features a vast supply of stainless steel sinks in varying shapes and sizes, and they have the added benefit of a full undercoat over sound-deadening pads. This gets rid of any tinny sounds from running water and echoes from placing pots and pans.

They save time and energy by eliminating the need to carry heavy pots between the sink and stove. Whitehaus offers soaker faucets and pot fillers in countless styles and finishes guaranteed to match the design of any kitchen. In addition to a pot filler, you’ll want to make sure your vent hood suits your needs. The value of a proper vent hood is extremely underrated. The hood shouldn’t be larger than your range, but it needs to be powerful enough to suck the air when cooking. Gas ranges exert more heat than electric ranges, so they require a vent hood with more power. The vent hood can also creating a focal point with function in your kitchen.

Whitehaus offers soaker faucets and pot fillers in countless styles and finishes guaranteed to match the design of any kitchen.”

A soaker faucet is the best choice to accompany your stainless steel sink. Chefs love soaker faucets because the high-arcing spout makes room for even the largest pots. You can also channel the water to reach the farthest spot of the sink, making it a breeze to clean your sink or dishes. Pot fillers are also a necessity in a culinary kitchen. There is no greater convenience than being able to fill a pot with water directly on your range.

Organized storage is extremely important in a culinary kitchen. Open shelving is a great way to display bulk storage and frequentlyused ingredients. Keeping these ingredients in decorative jars or baskets makes them accessible accessories. Designating drawers to organize pots, pans, and baking trays eradicates messy stacking and makes everything visible. It’s a simple solution with a dramatic effect.

When renovating or remodeling, the laundry room is often neglected. Not many people enjoy doing laundry, so they tend to allocate more funds for renovation in the kitchen, bathrooms, or other popular spaces. However, renovating your laundry room into an efficient, stylish space will make spending time in there less of a chore. Much like the kitchen, the laundry room is most effective when split into zones. Dividing up your laundry room by task will create a natural, seamless work flow. There are three main zones you’ll want to incorporate: prep, wash, and fold. With these three areas, you might even find you enjoy spending time in the laundry room.

WHLSDB4020-C

The prep zone is typically where you keep a hamper or basket for dirty clothes. You’ll also want to include a counter for treating stained shirts and a deep sink for soaking. Whitehaus Collection offers deep sinks in both fireclay and stainless steel. The Farmhaus Fireclay sinks are perfect for a traditional design; are durable; are scratch, chip, and stain-resistant; and won’t bend with extreme temperatures. The stainless steel Noah’s Collection freestanding sinks bring a modern look to your space and are also extremely durable. Pairing your deep sink with a faucet that has a swivel spout and side spray allows you to maximize the function of the space. Swivel spouts and spray

heads let you control the flow of water, making it simple to clean hard-to-reach areas. In the wash zone, you’ll naturally want to incorporate your washing and drying machines. In addition to the appliances, you should include shelves or cabinets to store cleaning supplies and products. It’s imperative to leave enough space for you to access the appliances without bumping into the cabinetry. If your laundry room is on the smaller side, you can increase storage capacity by elevating your washer and dryer and placing cabinets or drawers underneath. It’ll also make your space more ergonomic because you won’t have to continually bend down to reach inside the appliances. The fold zone should have the most counter space available in the laundry room. There should also be baskets for clean clothes and a drying rack. To save space, drying racks can be mounted to the wall or ceiling.

WHLS3618-C

WHQDB332

You can also make your laundry room more effective by combining it with another space. Laundry rooms that are also mud rooms, pantries, or sitting areas are more useful, and therefore seem less daunting. With some ample lighting and an efficient layout, you can transform your dreary laundry room into a functional, stylish space. www.kitchenbathtrends.com

Style

The industrial style was born out of necessity. Back in the day, the three principles for design were simplicity, durability, and functionality. Recently, we’ve been leaning towards traditional designs that are softer and more welcoming or modern designs with sharp angles and cool colors. By reverting back to the original ideology behind industrialism, you can create a durable design for your kitchen that is also stylish and trendy.

Dark and Matte A key feature in the industrial style is dark, matte finishes for fixtures and hardware. Polished finishes create a shine that looks out-of-place in an industrial setting. Whitehaus Collection offers faucets and decorative hardware in dark, matte finishes. Brushed Nickel and Stainless Steel are also perfect for those who want a matte texture but a lighter finish. 20

Kitchen Bath Trends Magazine

Keep It Simple While accessories certainly add to the design, all the accessories should have purpose and function. Decoration for the sake of decorating, such as the use of knick-knacks, goes against the principles of industrial style.

Style

Steel Strength Steel is a great material for accessories. Whether in the kitchen or bath, using steel adds to the industrial style in a natural way. You can cover doors with steel, use steel pipes for towel bars, toilet paper holders, or paper towel holders, have steel sconces, or incorporate a steel-framed mirror. Steel bowls, plates, and chairs are also great to accessorize with.

Back to Basics Work off old elements that are already incorporated into your building’s structure. Using exposed brick, wood and concrete as design elements is a key of functional design. It adds to the aesthetics of industrial style while physically supporting the foundation of your home.

Design by: Luis Viteri, Showcase Kitchens of Massapequa Photo provided by: Showcase Kitchens of Long Island www.showcasekitchens.com

Concrete Counter Concrete is one of the raw materials essential in an industrial design. Using it for a counter is a chic way to create an industrial focal point. If you prefer a different counter material, concrete can also be used as an industrial alternative for flooring.

Wood Works Wood is a material that softens harsher designs. Like concrete, it can be used for counters or floors, but you can go a step beyond and use it in accessories. Elements such as chairs, mirror frames, cutting boards, and towel bars, can be styled with wood to play into the raw materials needed for the industrial style. www.kitchenbathtrends.com

Style

Greatness lasts a lifetime. There’s a reason that traditional style has thrived for so long and is one of the most popular styles found in homes today. It promises warmth and welcome, and what’s more appealing than that? These fixtures draw inspiration from the past to provide comfort and familiarity, two extremely lucrative elements for a bath design. When you want to relax and unwind from a long day, your traditional bath will be there to welcome you. The key to traditional bath styling is to find classic designs paired with modern technology when selecting your fixtures. This will give your bath a refined and elegant feel with timeless trends. You want the space to look traditional but to have the functionality of a modern bathroom. Another crucial element of traditional design is soft lines. When choosing fixtures for your bath, you want to stick with pieces that have fluid lines. Sharp edges and harsh lines are elements of contemporary or modern design, so you’ll want to stay away from extremely angular sinks and faucets. Round sinks and traditional spout faucets are integral elements to a traditional bathroom.

Clean. Simple. Sleek. Modern design is an efficient yet luxurious style popular in homes across the globe. It’s streamlined to make your space as functional as it is beautiful. Industrial fixtures used in kitchens provide modernity through architectural lines and geometric shapes. These elements are two key factors in the overarching theme of modern design. Horizontal lines and a lack of ornamentation are another two necessary ingredients for a modern style kitchen. Keeping these guides in mind for your modern design will lead you to the perfect fixtures. For a modern design, you want to carefully choose what remains visible and display it with clear intention. Everything should have a purpose in a modern design, rather than decorations for the sake of embellishment. Stainless steel sinks are perfect for a modern design. These durable sinks define functionality. They’ll withstand the harshest chores while providing beautiful simplicity. Faucet collections that integrate architectural lines and geometric shapes right into the foundation of your design make the ideal choice for modernity.

STAINLESS STEEL

SUPER SINKS Utility and laundry sinks need to be more functional than stylish. These fixtures are required to withstand the toughest wear-andtear, more so than kitchen and bathroom sinks combined. Utility sinks need to be strong enough to endure harsh chemicals, huge messes, and even bigger cleanups.

stainless steel is durable; scratch and stain resistant; and won’t chip, peel, or bend with thermal shock.

Whether freestanding, wall mount, or drop-in, the utility sinks in Noah’s Collection by Whitehaus have unprecedented durability. A sink’s gauge is how you measure its thickness; the lower the gauge, the thicker the sink. All the Noah’s Collection utility sinks are 16, 18, or 20 gauge, making them some of the most durable sinks on the market. They’re also made from 304 series brushed stainless steel with an 18/8 chrome and nickel content. This gives the steel a lustrous shine that won’t fade for years to come. Other than luster,

In addition to these sinks’ inherent benefits, they also have physical qualities that increase their functionality. Each sink has four directional grooves to channel water directly to the drain. The benefit of this is immeasurable; cleaning is improved exponentially when water is guided straight to the drain. The freestanding utility sinks all have adjustable legs for customizable height, with dual leg braces for added support and stability. They also have backsplashes with pre-drilled holes for an easy pairing with a Whitehaus wall mount utility faucet. Backsplashes also provide protection to your wall against dirt, grime, and build-up. Along with the freestanding utility

sinks, Whitehaus also offers a freestanding, stainless steel utility cabinet. This has all the aforementioned benefits of a Whitehaus stainless steel sink with the addition of under-sink storage hidden from view. The wall mount and drop-in mop and hand sinks from Noah’s Collection make the perfect addition to a more specialized space. The wall mount mop sinks also have the four diagonal grooves, and are ideal for filling buckets or rinsing out your mop. Placing a mop sink in a utility room or work area will further

enhance the efficiency of your space. Installing a hand sink right in the work area increases the sanitation of your home; dirty hands no longer have to travel through the house to the kitchen sink to be washed. These too have the drain grooves, and also have backsplashes for protecting your walls. From freestanding to wall mount, single to double bowl, the Noah’s Collection utility sinks come in every shape and size to meet your design needs. With these sinks, you don’t have to sacrifice aesthetics for functionality.

unique style and features. These cabinets are made from anodized aluminum, a material with numerous benefits that include an extremely long lifespan. Aluminum can’t be affected by ultraviolet rays and will never chip or peel. The maintenance of anodized aluminum is simple; cleaning the cabinet with soap and water is all that is needed to restore a dirty surface to its original appearance. Anodizing is a safe process for human health, so the cabinets are also eco-friendly, non-toxic, and non-corrodible. The surface mounted cabinets have an easy installation; it’s as simple as hanging a picture on the wall. The recessed cabinets are built into the wall, and create a seamless look in your space. Between the revolutionary technological features and the classic design structure, the Medicinehaus line from Whitehaus Collection provides you with the ideal fixture for any bathroom.

Kitchen faucets are typically bought for function: will it get the job done? In recent years, more emphasis is being placed on the styling of the faucet and how it enhances its surrounding environment. Faucets are becoming a key factor in the overall style of the room. Modern faucets are typically polished, whereas traditional faucets are matte and vintage-looking. It also has to complement cabinetry hardware and the sink, otherwise it may look out of place in the room. There are so many options beyond traditional or modern to choose from now, that the decision can seem daunting. How should it be mounted, on the sink or on the counter? What finish best complements the kitchen design, polished or matte? How many handles should it have, one or two? To simplify the process, we’ve created a comprehensive guide to choosing your perfect kitchen faucet. 32

HARDWARE MOUNTING OPTIONS SINK MOUNT Sink mount faucets are mounted to the sink itself. There are many different sink and faucet combinations but they’re not always suitable matches. If you’re working with an existing sink, you’ll need to take the amount of pre-drilled holes into consideration. PRO

CON

Swapping out a sink mount faucet gives your kitchen a quick update.

Because you need to work with pre-drilled holes, your faucet options can be limited.

DECK MOUNT Deck mounted faucets are mounted to the counter and are a great option for undermount sinks. They provide a contemporary look, especially when paired with a stainless steel sink. PRO

CON

Deck mount faucets create a seamless look in the kitchen.

They take up counter space, which could be an issue in smaller kitchens.

WALL MOUNT Wall mount faucets are ideal for small kitchens because they don’t take up any counter space. You’ll need to pay attention to the water spout projection to make sure your sink and wall mount faucet are compatible.

With your faucet mounted to the wall, your counter cleanup will be a breeze.

The spacing and location of a wall mount faucet have to be perfect.

AESTHETICS STYLE

FINISHES

Choosing a kitchen faucet is easiest when you’ve already decided on a modern, contemporary, traditional, or vintage style for the space. It narrows your choices down by eliminating finishes and other options that won’t match your overall kitchen design.

MATTE Brushed Nickel, Oil Rubbed Bronze, Antique Copper, Antique Brass, Oil Rubbed Bronze Highlight, Mahogany Bronze, and Pewter are some examples of matte faucet finishes. These finishes are ideal for traditional kitchen designs.

POLISHED Finishes such as Polished Chrome, Polished Brass, Polished Copper, and Polished Nickel give off shine and gleam, making them perfect for modern designs.

MATERIALS PLASTIC

SOLID BRASS

PRO

PRO

Faucets made from plastic are more inexpensive than other faucet materials.

Solid brass faucets last the longest and require the least amount of care.

CON

CON

Plastic faucets don’t last as long as other faucets, and may need to be replaced more frequently.

Because of their high quality, solid brass faucets cost more than other materials.

HANDLE STYLES SINGLE-HANDLE

DOUBLE-HANDLE

Faucets with a single handle are called mixers. The mixer rotates up and down to control water flow and side-to-side to adjust water temperature.

Double-handled faucets are usually triple-hole widespread faucets, though you can find some single-hole, double-handled faucets. These faucets are more customizable, allowing you to choose lever or cross handles to accompany the faucet.

PRO

CON

These faucets are especially convenient when your hands are full or dirty because you don’t need a lot of dexterity to turn it on. They also typically have high-arcing spouts, making them perfect for larger pots.

You get a less precise temperature with a mixer than you do with a double-handled faucet, and you have less style options for the handle.

PRO

CON

You get more precise water adjustment with a double-handled faucet and a customized look.

These faucets are harder to switch on with occupied hands and have lower spouts.

THE SPOTLIGHT’S ON YOU,

WHFLGO3318 PRODUCT SPOTLIGHT WHAT The Farmhaus Fireclay WHFLGO3318 is a Reversible Series double bowl fireclay sink with a Gothichaus front apron on one side and a fluted front apron on the opposite side.

WHKTSL3-2200 in Brushed Nickel

WHERE This front apron sink is perfect for your vintage, traditional, country and transitional kitchen. WHY The benefits of a fireclay sink are numerous. Fireclay is clay capable of withstanding extreme temperatures, so it creates an extremely durable sink. It won’t scratch, stain or chip, nor will it bend due to thermal shock. It’s a timeless piece in both style and functionality. Installing your sink as a front apron also has its own benefits. It is easier to reach the sink because it is not recessed into the counter, which is ideal for families with children or disabilities. It also allows for better posture when doing dishes and cleaning. With a Farmhaus Fireclay sink, you have the choice of four different finishes: White, Biscuit, Black and Sapphire Blue. Each color enhances a different style kitchen. The Reversible Series is extremely beneficial in terms of style and monetary value; you basically get two sinks for the price of one. If something happens to the front apron of your sink, or you simply need a change of style, you can easily flip it around and create a brand new look. It will completely change the design and feel of the room. What’s extremely unique about the WHFLGO3318 front apron sink is its design. The gothic swirl design is patented by Whitehaus Collection, so you know you’re getting a one-of-a-kind sink. ACCESSORIES To complete your Farmhaus Fireclay WHFLGO3318 sink, pair it with the WHREV3318 grid and RNW35L Basket Strainer. For a country, traditional, or vintage kitchen, look to the Vintage III or Twisthaus collections for your ideal kitchen faucet. For a transitional kitchen, the JEM Collection or Metrohaus faucets add a touch of contemporary to your classic sink. 38
