Before they were engaged, Denay begged Tim to buy her any old ring because she could not wait to marry him. Tim replied, “The ring a girl gets from me is going to be a good one.” He then scoured Manitoba’s jewellery shops, eventually settling on one in Morden that flew in a number of yellow diamonds for Tim to inspect under a microscope. When he proposed, the yellow diamond was nestled amongst 26 smaller diamonds on an 18 carat white gold band, inside of a Kinder egg. Realizing this was no small trinket, Denay asked, “Is that for me?” and Tim said, “Only if you agree to marry me!” Denay said yes, and they popped a bottle of champagne, toasting the rest of their lives together.

THE BUDGET LISTEN TO YOUR PLANNER When you hire a top-notch planner, you’re really signing yourself up for expert financial advice that you might not be ready to hear. Truth is, an average of 30% of couples use credit cards to pay for all or part of their wedding. Going into debt before you’re married might lead to putting off buying a house or even starting a family, and puts needless strain on your marriage in its infancy. An experienced wedding planner, on the other hand, will never recommend putting the costs on plastic.
CRY POOR Seriously. If all else fails, phone the planner you’re considering and let them know that you love their work and would do anything to have them plan your wedding, but can only afford such-and-such a price tag, total. Be as honest, specific, and realistic as possible. Perhaps they can offer you a smaller “day of” or “month of” coordination package, or they might be able to recommend a cheaper planner in the city with a similar aesthetic.
TIME IS MONEY At the end of the day, time is money. As tired as this old saying sounds, it never rings truer than when a bride is signing, stuffing, sealing, addressing, and stamping save-the-date after invitation after thank you card. Janelle had known Anders her whole life, but the sparks didn’t fly until Anders asked her to their high school grad. They’ve been inseparable ever since, and Janelle had already started planning their wedding long before they were engaged. They even bought a ring together, but Anders, like a true gentleman, waited until he had her father’s permission before popping the question.

As we head into our 10th year of business, it gives me great pride to think of all the weddings we have planned, coordinated and have had a hand in over the years.
How has wedding décor in Winnipeg evolved over 10 years? ANSWER
When we first opened in 2004
most weddings did not have any décor at all. In fact, couples were using tulle and mini lights provided by the venue. In 2004, chair covers were not available locally. If a couple wanted chair covers, they had to be shipped in from a third party in Toronto. We were quick to see the demand for wedding décor in Winnipeg and immediately started offering chair covers, linens, and décor to our couples. Mini lights and tulle have now been replaced with the stylish textured linens and luxurious fabrics with colour coordinated spotlights. While certain wedding traditions are timeless, décor styles and trends find a way to reinvent themselves with each season. Couples are more aware now than ever before that they can use their décor, colours, stationery, details and design as a means of expressing themselves on their day.

they got engaged, Sarah jumped right into planning their wedding. Ever inspired by all things antique and heirloom, she began gathering inspiration from lace, birdcages, vintage teacups, and bunting flags. Personal touches included DIY flip flop baskets for guests, a corkboard seating chart, and hand-sewn floral tablecloths. Even though the night ended with rain, nothing could stop the newlyweds from dancing the night away to live music with their nearest and dearest.
