A year of long-distance following high school only reassured them of their love for one another, and after several years of dating, Joe planned a creative proposal for Kelsie, which featured a scavenger hunt at his parentsâ&#x20AC;&#x2122; farm. Kelsie and Joe planned a nature-themed summer wedding, which took inspiration from another wedding photographed by Mackenzie Jean Photography, and featured a soft palette of peach, gold, and cream.

An important cultural celebration led to the beginning of Tricia and Justin’s forever when they met at a Filipino debut. Tricia was teaching the special choreographed dances and Justin was part of the close group of family and friends chosen to dance. Although Justin was a hesitant member of the party, looking back, he admits that he made the right choice: “Little did I know that I would meet the one person who would change my life forever,” he says. After spending an extended amount of time together practicing for the debut, they became good friends, and soon, Justin began to court Tricia. Once the pair welcomed their first son, Hayden, three years later, Justin was certain that he wanted to spend forever with her.

JUSTIN HAD HIS FAMILY SET UP THE proposal space while he took Tricia out for dinner. After dinner, he gave Tricia a surprise gift – a blindfold. Tricia put on the blindfold and Justin brought her to the Forks where a path of scattered rose petals and paper bag enveloped candles illuminated the way to the Lyric Theatre. After removing her blindfold, he led her to a table where champagne and rose petals awaited. “I turned to Tricia and explained how much she meant to me and how she changed my life,” says Justin. “I then finally got down on one knee and asked her to spend the rest of our lives together. She made me the happiest man that night by saying YES!”

Although they didnâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t have a specific colour palette, in keeping with their garden inspired theme, they chose colours that could be found in nature, such as greens, cream, a touch of pink, and navy blue. Their outdoor wedding ceremony, held behind The Pavilion Event Centre, was short and simple, consisting of live guitar music, a reading by officiant Amanda Douglas, personalized vows, and the ring exchange. After the ceremony, the couple enjoyed a rustic yet elegant reception, which featured meaningful details such as wooden table numbers hand-stained by the bride, chair flowers at the head table, and the brideâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s favourite: a beautiful dessert table with a line of flowers running between the displayed desserts.

SAVETHE DATE It was a New Year’s Eve that would change Jonny’s life forever – that night he would meet the love of his life. Jonny was walking around a friend’s party when he heard a mesmerizing laugh.

As he searched for the source, he soon found it coming from Silvana and he couldn’t help but immediately introduce himself. The pair was instantly attracted to each other and decided that they would be each other’s dates for the rest of the evening. After a night filled with laughs and memories, Jonny suggested that there was no other choice but to exchange phone numbers. The next day, he couldn’t resist calling Silvana and, after a lengthy, eye-opening conversation, they planned their official first date. FAST FORWARD FIVE YEARS, TO A LOVELY CHRISTMAS EVE dinner at Silvana’s parent’s house. Jonny spent the entire evening eager to get Silvana alone and after many failed attempts, he finally convinced her that they needed to talk right now. Going to her room, Jonny sat Silvana on the bed and began reading her a breathtaking card that he had personally written. He then reached into his backpack and pulled out a black box bearing a jaw dropping engagement ring. Silvana, who was at a loss for words, vigorously nodded her head yes!

After a year of dating, the proposal was something that Amit knew he wanted to start planning. Rather than taking Angela diamond shopping, Amit took things into his own hands so it would be a complete surprise for her, paying close attention to anything she said regarding jewellery. After receiving the blessing from Angelaâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s father, Amit chose a gorgeous emerald cut diamond ring. The next step was to figure out how to stage the engagement and the perfect opportunity happened on the day they moved in together. On the day of possession, Amit arranged for the apartment to be decorated with bouquets and rose petals while the two were out on a dinner date. The moment that Angela walked in, Amit got down on one knee.

REAL WINNIPEG WEDDING

FOLLOWING A ROMANTIC PROPOSAL, WHICH

Jayme planned around a special weekend at the downtown Winnipeg Radisson Hotel, the couple spent a year and five months planning their wedding. Inspired by the fresh modern looks found on Pinterest, the couple planned a classy affair. Quirky, yet meaningful elements at the reception included an Instagram sign (#Vertonewedding) that offered guests a chance to post their photos of the day and the kissing game in lieu of glass-clinking. However, the most meaningful element may have been the couple’s choice of wedding commissioner – the Chief of Police. “Chief Clunis did an amazing job!” says Rachel. “There was the perfect amount of laughter, tears and spiritual aspects. I couldn’t have asked for a better ceremony, everything was perfect.”

Later, she brought her expertise to Pineridge Hollow in 2010, being promoted to head chef within just two weeks of her residency. She and her team at Pineridge Hollow take pride in everything they do and maintain their high expectations to make sure all their guests are happy.

CHEF IAN WONG has always been drawn to coking and with parents who were great cooks, he tasted and experimented with everything he could get his hands on. It was fifteen years ago that he started in the kitchen with his first job as a dishwasher and he worked his way up into line cooking. Years later, he attended Red River College and enrolled in the Culinary Arts program, completing it in 2006. After working for a few fine dining establishments around the city, he was offered the position of Sous Chef at St. Boniface Golf Club and was then promoted to Chef three years ago.

He enjoys cooking classic dishes by modern means and adding his own twist, learning new styles of cooking from around the world and broadening his understanding of the profession. His Chinese roots also have a major influence in his style as he enjoys cooking with Asian ingredients and flavours. Being able to work at the St. Boniface Golf & Country Club allows Chef Ian to experiment with tasty things and he is always ready to take on new challenges!
