Throughout Summer, Vineyard Anaheim sponsored a Food drive that happened weekly on saturday at a local community center. This event was one of the few in-person events throughout quarantine and was very limited in spots. Even though not many members signed up, there were only 3 slots open for sign up in order to maintain 6 foot distancing. There was extra precaution with extra face masks and gloves available to volunteers. At this event, our members were able to volunteer at different stations ranging from picking up food, directing traffic, to loading food in cars. Each of us was distributed to different stations, and I was able to load food into people’s cars and was able to see the happiness that was caused from volunteering. The other members had chances pushing grocery carts to fill with food and directing traffic so that things went smoothly. The event lasts around 2-3 hours with a break in between for water and snacks. At the event, over 100 families are usually served each weekend. It is a great feeling being able to volunteer at in-person events again and give back to the community. Even though only there were not that many events for members to go it was a good experience for those who went and volunteered.
