PHIL O. WILLOUGHBY CEO

For twelve years hundreds of talented individuals collaborate to produce one of the largest fashion events in the nation twice each year. Many times our work is so compartmentalized that we don’t get to enjoy the talents of other artists because our paths simply do not overlap. For instance, a model who walks only Wednesday doesn’t get to see a creative artistic masterpiece by a talented make up artist that is shown Saturday night. But there is one important functiuonal role during 03

Preston works with the designers and his own vast musical knowledge in developing the music for each runway presentation. It is a creative process, and he has dedicated an enormous amount of time in assisting each designer on their music, which sets the mood and pace of each line that is presented on the runway

Philip O Willoughby, CEO Kansas City Fashion Week

Preston makes us better. While this season will be his last as Music Director of KCFW, his legacy of providing a supreme level of service and professionalism to our designers’ shows will be the standard for others who sit in our sound booth in the years ahead.

Kansas City Fashion Week that does overlap with everyone, and we all get to experience his insane level talent: Preston Parsons has filled our great halls with music each and every show for the past decade, and virtually every model who has walked a KCFW runway has done so by creative music packaged by Preston.

You will be missed Preston.

Preston is a Renaissance man of many oddities A hairdresser for over ten years, a salon owner since January 2020, a cat dad, mother lover, surfer, artist, avid Nashville hot chicken connoisseur, Kansas City raised now native of Los Angeles, California, volunteer advocate, and most recently a returning to college student of psychology. I currently spend my time split between working behind the chair, diving head first into school, and volunteering with unhoused populations and communities in need around the surrounding areas of Los Angeles. My biggest passion is uplifting others. Everything else orbits that shining star, with the overall goal of making the world a better, brighter place for others.

I love you all a metric butt ton. From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for all of the love and support over the last decade. You all are the best. She sees bold, highlighter colors and hydrant reds trending this fall as well as low rise pants and ro mini skirts. ourtnie Ross has always had a passion for all things fashion, design, and art She has had many endeavors over the years, including makeup and jewelry lines While these experiences didn’t necessarily go as planned, she learned a lot and is thankful for the skills she aqcuired. These experiences combined with her drive to not give up encouraged her to launch her newest venture: an early 2000’s themed boutique named “LoveStoned ” She had the idea for this trendy clothing store while at a concert in October of 2021, and she opened her first brick and mortar store in Kansas City less than 6 months later

She is also currently a marketing student, and she has been putting her education into practice successfully. She loves branding and social media almost as much as fashion, and her skill sets are coming together perfectly to showcase her passions Courtnie’s advice to her younger self would be to stop doubting herself and trust that everything will work out. She says her younger self would think she’s the coolest and would likely be less anxious if she knew that her dreams would come true Customers can find their next outfit at LoveStoned located at: 1515 Walnut St. Kansas City, Missouri Online at www lovestonedretail com Social Media at @lovestonedretail 24

Led by an experienced team of fashion industry professionals and event planning specialists, KCFW planners set the standard for fashion event production. Through partnerships with the Midwest's leading companies, KCFW continues to serve as a collaboration for the industry that propels emerging designers to success, as well as providing a rich source of consumer interaction for the established designer.

56

In the successful production of over fifteen fashion week seasons, KCFW has helped refocus the region's attention to the commercial possibilities of a revitalized apparel design and manufacturing industry.

Buyers and individual consumers are provided an opportunity to order apparel and accessories shown on the runway, and KCFW provides industry professionals an avenue to showcase their abilities to a national audience. With an unapologetic focus on the business side of the fashion industry, each KCFW event highlights the many facets of fashion commerce. Buyers from retail establishments, media personalities, online apparel entrepreneurs, and celebrities help to comprise an audience for each show, making KCFW a must attend event for established and emerging fashion professionals.

Kansas City has a rich history of fashion success. In the late 1940s, Kansas City's Garment District employed over 4,000 people and boasted that 1 out of every 7 women in the United States purchased garments made in Kansas City.

Kansas City Fashion Week is a nexus of fashion professionals. Featuring local, national, and international designers, each year KCFW produces two full weeks of premier runway shows, enabling designers to collaborate with seasoned stylists, make up artists, models, and photographers to present their collections in the most professional atmosphere imaginable.

rileymakena... INTERVIEW WITH COVER MODEL

I started modeling this past after encouragement from my sister I had always been interested in modeling but it felt like something I would never actually be able to do She pushed me to audition for KCFW for the Spring/Summer 2022 show. I had an amazing time meeting other models and working with two amazing designers. I felt very confident in myself after the shows and decided to move forward and further explore the modeling industry

exciting I have been able to work alongside amazing models, photographers and designers. Throughout this experience I have pushed myself to do things I only could have imagined for myself before. I love being able to explore new things and I’m glad to be doing so through a life long dream. What has been one of your favorite experience in modeling?

In my free time I’m most likely reading a book Ever since I was younger I’ve enjoyed reading My two favorite genres are romance and mystery

My modeling experience so far has been very because they usually have the most exciting stories What are you involved in aside from modeling? Aside from of modeling I am very academically involved. I am a Junior in high school and take a number of AP classes as well as being a part of my school's student council I am also a certified daycare provider and love going to my job at a daycare after school during the week

What has your experience been as a model?

My favorite modeling experience so far has been the photoshoots I love the feeling of being in front of the camera With every shoot I begin to feel more comfortable with the process Showing off amazing clothes as well as expressing myself is what makes shooting so fun for me. I also love getting pictures back and seeing the finished product after shooting. In the future I hope to have many more shoots and to further experiment with different clothing and poses.
