Worcester Oliver Cromwell's New Model Army defeated King Charles II's Royalists in the Battle of Worcester in 1651, which was the final battle of the English Civil War. Worcestershire is home to no fewer than 14 vineyards. The composer Edward Elgar was born at Lower Broadheath and raised in Worcester, where there’s a commemorative statue.

Hallow Queen Elizabeth 1st hunted deer in Hallow Park in 1574 on her Royal Progress. Hallow is listed in the Domesday Book under its original name, Haleghan. The founder and several members of the Original Welsh Border Morris Men live in Hallow. They tour Worcestershire pubs once a year on the Saturday before Christmas. The late Charles Wheeley Lea – of Lea & Perrins Worcestershire Sauce fame – lived in Hallow.
