Five years ago, we began the tradition of honoring local Chicagoans that would have made Mr. Whitney M. Young, Jr. proud for their service to the African American community. Along the way, your support of this event has allowed us to dedicate special funding to provide a Scouting program in the innercity where family structure and economic conditions are deeply strained. In a time where Chicago’s violence is shattering records, the need for your support is even greater. Help us to ensure that Scouting is an option for our youth during these turbulent times by joining us to celebrate this year’s honorees. It is with great pride that we announce this year’s class of Whitney M. Young, Jr. recipients…

Mr. Young fought tirelessly to bring African Americans equality in the work place. The BSA honors his memory by selecting individuals that have set a professional example for our Scouts to strive toward and for the service they have given to the local community at large. Through your support of Scouting our next generation is learning leadership skills, selfreliance, citizenship, respect and positive values that will prepare them for a productive life. At one point or another we all needed someone to help guide us. Please consider supporting this event to do your part to guide a young person on a path that leads them to success. Sponsorship of this event will allow you to feature your brand in front of community leaders we invite you to review the enclosed details. In the words of Mr. Young‌
“It is better to be prepared for an opportunity and not have one than to have an opportunity and not be prepared.
