Ms. Walker, One of my best students in the graduate program in Writing at SCAD-‐Atlanta, Glennis Lofland, has applied to serve as mentor for ArtsNow. I’m writing to let you know that she’s a very qualified candidate for this esteemed position. I’ve known Glennis for about two years now. She’s been a student in several of my classes, and she’s served as editor for our new literary magazine The Ivy Hall Review. She’s also taught with me as a teaching assistant in my Fiction 1 class. Glennis is an excellent student, never missing an assignment, and always coming to class prepared. She’s a critical reader with a sharp eye for theme and meaning, and she never fails to say something provocative in seminar. As editor of The Ivy Hall Review, she’s taken this difficult literary project to the next level with professionalism and creativity. The journal has gone from a struggling side project to a fully-‐fledged journal with reputable content and a stylistic presence on the Web. I’m impressed with Glennis as a writer, a teacher, and an editor. I’ve come to know her as a thoughtful, creative, and caring person. She has a good heart, and an active mind, and that’s a rare combination. She’s warm, kind, and funny, and she works well in groups. She’ll push for her point-‐of-‐view—that’s a mark of her persistence—but she’ll always do so with care and politeness. Young writers and teachers could learn a great deal from Glennis. She’s well read, and she’s comfortable sharing her knowledge. She’s clever in the classroom, and she’s always thinking of new, fresh ways to bring Writing to her peers and students. In short, I recommend her fully and without reservation. Please contact me by phone, email, or letter if you’d like to discuss her application further. Prof. Darby Sanders 3/3/2015

Dear Ms. Walker, I would like to take an opportunity to offer a formal recommendation for Montez Davis to serve in your mentorship program with ArtsNow. As the Professor of Business for Savannah College of Art and Design – Atlanta Campus, I had the opportunity to teach and observe Montez while he took one of my Business courses and participated in a collaborative learning class (CLC) engaging with a non-profit company developing a strategic plan. I feel that Montez is a very deserving candidate for a position as a mentor with ArtsNow. Montez is earning his Bachelor of Arts from SCAD and I am privileged to be one of his Professors. I am continually impressed with Montez’s professionalism and the depth of his business acumen. Additionally, Montez has demonstrated an incredible initiative and a strong dedication, aligning with one of the assignments; he explored his personal branding where he earned high marks. Montez leads by example and many students here at SCAD find his enthusiasm and drive both inspiring and motivating. I believe Montez exhibits many of the qualities that are essential to business managers and business as a whole. A mentorship with your esteemed business will help him hone these qualities, while enhancing your opportunities for Montez. I highly recommend Montez Davis and hope that you will carefully consider his application. Sincerely,
