7,200 sf Office & Mixed use The IF&W Region A headquarters is nestled between the State Police and the Maine wild life park which houses the warden’s service, wildlife biologist and public spaces. By utilizing a full time occupancy equivilancy and flex spaces, reductions in the required floor area were possible. The previous occupied building indoor air quality issues, as a result the building seperated into two zones; office use and processing spaces with direct outdoor access to prevent any cross contamination of air polutants.

The office was designed with a rustic/industrial maine aesthetic which utilized the IF&W colors. Natural and reclaimed wood in the public areas and work spaces showcased a neutral earthy pallet. Bioligist and wardens offices have decicated pinup space and an abundance of views to the exterior surrounding woods. Along with a dedicated air system the field processing lab and dark room provide the bioligist devoted workspace with storage areas located in the Northeast corner of the building. Public and office areas are seperated by a secure entry in the lobby.

Brightview Senior Living Tenafly, NJ 79,000 sf

The Brightview Senior Living center in Tenafl y, NJ was completed in 2015. It contains a total of 90 units (110 beds) with assisted living(AL) and alzheimer’s care/memory care (ALZ) units ranging from single to double occupancy. This facility fi lls a much needed function in the community with an aging population, as many seniors are not capable of living on their own. The Brightview community seeks to improve their residents lives by creating a new social community within their walls.

The Facility is designed to have every need within the building Common spaces and outdoor courtyards are woven into each level, while back of hous functions are mostly confi ned to the ground floor. The 3 story facility provides dining for both AL and ALZ residents on the ground fl oor where the commercial kitchen, mechanical rooms, house keeping and staff offi ces reside. Primarily, ALZ and have access to their own private courtyard and social areas. The second and third fl oor are a mix of single and double rooms for the AL residents as well as fi tness areas, medical staff , library and a salon.

UCONN Nextgen Hall (STEM) Educational Storrs, CT 210,000 sf

UConn’s Nextgen Hall was completed in 2016 as the newest building on campus in thirteen years. It’s one of the tallest buildings on campus and houses 700+ freshman and sophomore students, with 50% of them being engineering majors, while the remaining are composed of students with STEM (Science Technology Engineering & Math) related studies. The project was a partnership between Newman Architects of CT who brought the project to 50% DD documents and JSA Architects who served as the architect of record. The first two floors contain classrooms, maker spaces, and a cafeteria, while the top 7 sotries all house dorm room and social spaces for students.

Lansdowne Athletic Park, TD Place Civic Ottawa, ON 70,100 sf

The City of Ottawa Partnered with several architecture and engineering fi rms to revamp their athletic facilities along the Rideau Canal in Preperation for the Women’s World Cup in 2015. Various architecture firms were responsible for updating Lansdowne, Cannon Design was tasked with updating the northern stadium and designing a new southern stadium. Together both stadiums would provide a 32,792 seating capacity with spectator amenities and press box. The southern stadium would be cloaked in a glulam sun shade which undulated north and south to provide openings. Lansdowne athletic park, by tradition, is open to the public year round. Residents run in and out of the stadium on their jogs alone the Rideau, in keeping with this tradion the stadium was designed to have the main and upper concourse open to the public year round. The suite level and media coverage sections of the structure would be blocked off when there was no athletic event to take place. Stadium structure is composed of precast concrete. Steel brackets anchored the sun screen back to the precast stadium seating.

Franklin St. Townhouses Exeter, NH 2,000 sf ea. unit 7 units total (Phase 1)

Located in the historic downtown of Exeter, NH is the site for the Franklin street townhouses which is the ďŹ rst phase in the revitalization the historic waterfront. The initial project composed of a two unit and ďŹ ve unit condos which would serve as the landmark for a new empty nester community which will become known as the Porches at Exeter. Within walking district of the city center the initial constrion will be joined by four smaller cottage style units and a new community clubhouse which will house a restaurant, gym and social activities for the community.

From the street the front entry of each unit was designed as a split level in order to reduce the amount of steps to grade. The first floor provides an open concept kitchen and living room which maximizes floor space and allows natural light throughout. The ground floor has the op on for an office or first floor walk-out bedroom facing the water and an elevator sha was built into each floor to accomodate aging in place if necessary. Each unit houses 3 bedrooms with 3 1/2 baths.
