View from the Box Well oh well, what a week. We defeated Paterna 2-0 last Sunday to record our fifth match at the Vicente Garcia without conceding a goal, then visited bottom club Villareal C to see us let in our 10th goal in only four away games! How can it be explained? My only rationale is the strength and force that our home support provides, galvanising the team into a tour de force and helping them raise their performance levels no end. With more and more fans coming back to the Vicente Garcia, it bodes very well for our future. The seven goal midweek thriller was regarded as a "mad" game by the players. After conceding an early penalty to go one down, the team spirit kicked in and Carrasco banged in two before they grabbed an equaliser just before the interval. Obele restored the lead, but we believed two valuable points were lost when they snatched another equaliser in the last minute! Carrasco and the team were not to be denied and he completed his hat-trick in time added on to take us into the top four! What a never say die attitude from each and every member of the squad and how proud we are of them and their sheer will to win. We are now in the top four and that is where we believe we should be given the talent and determination that exists within the club. Two tough away matches against newly promoted sides are now sandwiched between three ultra tough home tasks versus Jove, Novelda and Eldense. This will sort out the men from the boys! Come on Torry! 3

Today's visitors - FC Jove Espanol Relative near neighbours Jove has made an enterprising start to the season. drawing their opener and winning their next three. Their defence has been exceptional thus far with few teams able to breach their resolute rearguard whilst up front, they have so far produced the biggest win this term, scalping Acero 5-1 on match day 3. Thirty three year old Alvaro scored 21 goals in his last two seasons (for Jove and Eldense) and has already chalked up four in his first six matches. He is clearly someone that Rafa and Alexis will need to keep under wraps for the full ninety minutes this afternoon. Torry won this corresponding fixture for three years on the trot, but then has lost one and have drawn three from the last four meetings at The Vicente Garcia. Alvaro opened the scoring in that clash last year before Jorge equalised from the penalty spot, then we required a late Jose Manuel second equaliser to take a share of the spoils in an entertaining 2-2 stalemate. We hope for another thriller today but with Torry gaining all three points.

Player Profile: Francois Obele Mvondo Obele was born in Cameroon on 26 November 1987 and has traveled around Spain developing his football career. As well as featuring for Murcia Deportivo, Benidorm, Lorca Deportiva and Toledo, Obele has played for group six clubs, Torrellano and Elche Ilicitano. Last season he recorded an impressive 13 goals from 25 appearances for Almoradi, persuading Anselmo to bring him over to Torry this term. Obele is excellent in the air and uses his strong physique to good effect. This was best demonstrated so far this term when he proved more than a handful for la Liga's Elche at the Vicente Garcia in September. He did not get on the score sheet that evening, but was instrumental in setting up Alberto's brace of first half goals. Obele opened his account for Torry at Orihuela after Pastor had created the opportunity for him and it is apparent that these two former Almoradi players have a good understanding and work well together. It will be surprising if this combination do not create many more goals this season. It will be interesting to see if the manager will adopt the offensive boldness to play both Obele and Rafa Gomez from the start, which could prove fierce-some. We wish Obele lots of luck with Torry and hope he can emulate last season's tally of goals. 6

Player Profile: Jose Manuel Calderon Manzanos The name is not immediately familiar, as we best know this player as Micro. Born on 19 March 1987 in Orihuela, this is Micro's second spell at the Vicente Garcia. After playing in the Murcian leagues with Lorca B and Caravaca, Micro joined Torry for the 2009/10 season, but left mid term to join Orihuela where he played for two terms before joining Noja, then on to Crevillente, where he played with Dani Meseguer and Carrasco. Like those other two, he has now returned to Torry and is a crowd pleaser. He is extremely gifted on the ball, very quick and tricky feet, which generally leaves opponents dizzy headed. As he is so dangerous, opposing teams will double mark him and he can at times find himself outnumbered and losing possession. He works hard and back tracks well to cover opposition attacks and as would be expected, combines well with Dani and Carrasco, with whom he has played with before. In his two season with Crevillente he scored 8 goals, so hopefully there will soon be some of those to cheer about from his trusty left boot. Here's to a happy return to the Vicente Garcia Micro and lots of success. 10

Prognostications and Delusions After the insane footballing daydreams of Gillingham supporter Graham-what-day-is-it-Knight last time, we add another dreamer into the mix to see if he can offer some more believable predictions as to who will do what in the 2013/14 season. Maybe before the end of term, we will get your Brazil World Cup fancies, but I suspect you will want to wait until you know for sure who has qualified! Mike Haynes is a great supporter of the club and sponsors FC Torrevieja every season. Does that mean I will be nice to his future beliefs - NO! The Coys Cars man thinks Torry will have a top six finish (that's big of you) with Eldense winning the group. He can't see past Barca for La Liga and surprises with Arsenal for the Premier title in England. He adds Bayern to stay Champions of Europe, Elche to retain their La Liga status and then goes completely doolally by nominating Swansea for the F.A Cup, before clearly confusing this with the Europa League, saying only joking and plumping for Spurs defeating Seville in the final. As if that wasn't enough madness, he anticipates a Wolves Peterborough tussle for the English division One crown, with the Wanderers keeping Posh in second place. He does admit that his final prediction is made with his heart and not his head, but we see nothing at all wrong with that. All we have to say is that we hope his son Charlie has more insight, football acumen and ability to assess the merits of teams over a full season, because quite frankly Mike, those are rubbish predictions!!!!

Dates for your Diary 17 and 24 October. The final home and away matches in the regional RFEF cup. Alzira look like they're in the final, with either Castellon or Saguntino in their path before embarking on the national phase. Other news: The clocks go back at the end of this month - in the early hours of Sunday 27 October to be exact. That is the day we play at home to Novelda, with Jorge, Koeman and Manu. This will see the beginning of our return to 5pm kick off times..
