Welcome to TorreviejaToday Welcome to the first edition of Torrevieja Today. For many years, one of the major complaints from International Residents and visitors alike has been a lack of knowledge about what's on and what's happening in and around Torrevieja. How many times have you heard someone say "I wish I had had known that was on!" With the assistance of the Torrevieja Town Hall's Cultural, Sports and Tourism departments plus Football Club Torrevieja, we hope to be able to keep you informed with what's going on around one of Spain's most multi-cultural cities. We want you to make it to the event on time rather than wishing you had known about it beforehand! Very simply, this is one of the few magazines that you can use all month. It contains information about markets, concerts, theatre, dance, sports, FC Torrevieja football, clubs, associations, charities, groups, gatherings, fiestas, festivals, red days, fun days, holidays and all manner of stuff to allow you to make the very most of your valuable leisure time on the Southern Costa Blanca. Don't be fooled by the name. We will also include events in Orihuela Costa, Horadada, Quesada, Elche, Alicante, around the Vega Baja and even major happenings in Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia and further afield. Welcome to Torrevieja Today, the magazine to carry with you all month long. It's the read you need! Futbol Club Torrevieja

Futbol Club Torrevieja FC Torrevieja completed their pre season warm up matches with a pulsating 1-1 draw at home to beleaguered Orihuela CF and started the new season against Saturday Acero away from home on August 25th. Some bad news in that firm favourite Ramiro will not be wearing the white and blue this year. Ramiro celebrated his 29th Birthday last Thursday and clearly with one eye on his future has accepted a full time job outside of the region, negating his capability to train and play with his beloved home town, for which this season he was named captain. Fans will be saddened by this news as "Rammy" always gave 100% on and off the pitch for the club and was a constant thorn in the opposition flesh. We all know that the crisis has hit hard in Spain and the young man has taken steps to give himself a more secure future at a time when the years are running out for him and his non stop running style on the pitch. We all wish him well. Finally, do not miss Torry's first league home game on Sunday 2 September with a 6pm kick off. Not only is the team fully charged for this encounter, but it should see the debut of Gasch against the club of his birth town and the one he represented for the past six years. Carrasco will be wearing the Crevillente colours and it will be good to welcome him back to the Vicente Garcia, where he played with such flair and style last year. Entrance is 10 Euro for all, though under 16s get in for free, but great value is a 90 Euro season ticket, which can be bought from the Torry Army office in San Luis or from SJ & A Digit. All, Villa de Madrid, 41 Bajo 16,Torrevieja. The six pre season games resulted in 3 wins and three draws, and they won their first 'real' game against Acero away from home, 3:1. So the serious business now starts, with the need to put points on the board and making sure that Torry are at or near the head of the table all term in this pivotal season, where nothing less than promotion will be considered success 17

Welcome to Velocity Racing Spain at Circuito Cartagena... Oval/short Circuit Racing is motor sport performed within a flat circuit of up to approx. 365m in circumference. This differs from a road course in that it turns in one direction only. Oval circuits can vary dramatically in length and physical layout and therefore each track presents its own unique challenges and demands on the driver. Different forms of Oval circuit racing have been around almost as long as there have been cars to race as this was and still is (in our opinion) the best form of motor sport. Many categories of vehicle have been used from the monster NASCAR V8ʼs from the States to the very British minstocks. Here on the Costas, Velocity Racing Spain intend to bring a range of formulas, including 1300 Stock Cars, 2.0 Hot Rods, Lightning Rods, Junior Rods, Rookie Rods, National Hot Rods. If you're anything like us then this is the ʻrealʼ racing because ʻtrading paintʼ & ʻrubbingʼ is just racing but without the very high speeds and without the likelihood of serious accidents. We are looking for sponsors, volunteers, marshals, officials, medical staff etc., anyone wishing to help, drive or in need of a car to race please contact us on 674 256 147 or email: info@velocity-racing.eu Anyone wishing to have to drive on the day will need to be a fully paid up driver and have the proper safety equipment. We always have ready built cars for Hire and For Sale. Contact us for details or visit our website: www.velocity-racing.eu.
