Tell our readers a little bit about Tender Loving Family Care and the Services for Seniors program.

Our mission at Tender Loving Family Care, Inc. is to provide compassionate, quality care and services to meet the needs of our fast growing community. Tender Loving Family Care, Inc. is committed to quality, individualized patient care and proudly dedicated to providing the finest health services to date.

Our team of professionals takes pride in our ability to provide support that extends beyond superior care. We believe in addressing the total needs of our patients. We recognize that being friendly, compassionate, and courteous, is just as important as our patients emotional, spiritual, family, and cultural needs. At the core of our success is the very special working relation that exists between the Agency’s employees, administrators, medical staff, and our team approach to the delivery of home health care services.

In the current climate, what types of services are you seeing the biggest increase in that you provide your clients?

An increase in Family Type Home and Social Adult Day services has become more sought after in our community during the current climate. More people are turning to home care instead of institutionalized settings to care for their loved ones.

We recognize the importance of a caring family environment. We support our patients’ right to be informed and to exercise their freedom of choice regarding their care. We are further committed to providing leadership in the field of home health care through cost containment quality programs and by sharing knowledge and skills with our staff and peers, and through being actively involved in the community programs.

How did TLFC get started?

It all began with Annika D’Andrea, Founder and CEO of Tender Loving Family Care Inc., who has a passion for caring and helping others. She realized from an early age that she was born to serve a special purpose and didn’t believe there was any other way. The passion to care for others was born in her. Annika loves to care, and doing what she loves makes it possible to thrive. Her personal and professional life is guided by the principles of integrity, honesty, quality, commitment, respect, and dedication. At around six years old, she started helping and caring for those in need. At that young age, she would help people in my church and the community with any tasks that she was physically capable of doing. As an adult, Annika had first hand experience of what it’s like to care for a loved one, without having the resources and support available to provide respite and other much-needed services. Through all of her experiences and strong purpose to make sure others have the best home care services, Tender Loving Family Care was born.

Tender Loving Family Care, Inc. takes a comprehensive approach to providing home health care by offering complete solutions in the comfort of your own home. Our services and programs are designed to educate patients and caregivers on their medical condition, injury, or illness in an effort to maximize independence.

More and more older people, electing to live independent, noninstitutionalized lives, are receiving in-home care services as their physical capabilities diminish. Younger adults who are disabled or recuperating from acute illness are choosing in-home care whenever possible. As hospital stays decrease, increasing the numbers of patients who need services when they return home.

Patients and families can feel confident that Tender Loving Family Care is committed to providing the best quality service and programs. Our focus is always our patients and families’ satisfaction. We provide service in Monroe, Orleans, Ontario, Livingston, Genesee, Wayne, and Wyoming Counties.

Our company is based on the belief that our customer’s needs are of the utmost importance. We are committed to meeting those needs. As a result, a high percentage of our business is from repeat customers and referrals.

What would you say is the most important service you provide to the families?

We offer Home Health Care, Family Type Homes, Respite Care, Care Management, and Child Care programs. All of our services are important because we demonstrate compassionate care in all that we do and offer.

What activities and amenities do you provide in your “homes”?

Our Social Adult Day Program provides a bulk of our activities with a wide range of different experiences providing for the physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual needs of our residents. Our Family Type Homes feature private rooms, spacious and cozy community living rooms, library and dining rooms. Delicious and nutritious meals are prepared in house by the live in operator.

What keeps you going, especially during these times of difficulty?

The support of our TLFC family and the heartfelt desire to serve our community.

Tell us something people may not know about TLFC.

We also offer Child Care services to our community.

What is the difference between TLFC and typical senior living facilities? Our facilities are small scale homes. Residents are free to occupy the spaces as they wish. We have 4 full time residents in the house and offer short term respite care up to a month. The

house is run by a live-in Operator. As a resident you are part of our family.

What Kind of Training Does Your Team Undergo?

Our PCA staff is trained and supervised by our RNs. We provide continuing educational in-services throughout the year. With specialized training in dementia care. Our Social Adult Day Program staff is also trained in CPR and basic first aid and emergency preparedness. TLFC also has its own PCA training facilities for those that wish to start a career in caring. .

What Role Does Family Play?

Family is vital to our business. Everyone of our staff, Caregivers, and clients are a part of our extended family and we treat them as such.

How has the pandemic changed how you operate?

The pandemic has brought us closer together as a TEAM striving to provide the best possible services to help our community.

Where will we see TLFC in the future?

Growing. We never stop learning, and with learning comes growing. I believe Tender Loving Family Care will expand to more markets and serve many more clients. I also believe we will develop innovative programs to keep our communities and our clients engaged and build upon our group of companies to offer a wider range of healthcare services.
