idea.

what you’ve al

ways wanted . The youShade is a sustainable shading device that uses solar energy to power electronics while you’re out saving the world.

07

So,

This is our product.

idea.

The youShade will become an essential product for introducing modern amenities that are typically taken for granted for relief camps, beach front resorts, retail, and recreational uses. By utilizing photovoltaic fabric, the youShade is an energy harnessing shading device that has the ability to provide electricity in places that do not offer such luxuries. The stem of the umbrella houses the electrical power outlets, stealthily concealed within the metal core.

It’s a #gamechanger. Creating the youShade solves an environmental and social dilemma: offering a sustainable product that uses a natural source of energy that is readily available to demographics ranging from those that are dependent and those that are not exposed to on modern luxuries and extravagances like electricity. Introducing a shading device that is utilitarian in use and high tech in application into the market is feasible since there are groups and organizations that are becoming knowledgeable and interested in technologically advanced concepts that aid in the wellbeing of the world.

here’s the gist.

09

It is

photovoltaic fabric steel structure battery charge controller inverter

idea.

What is it made of?

By using an ultra sophisticated photovoltaic fabric that has just been introduced to the market, the youShade will be a totally self sustainable device that can aid in a wide variety of activities from humanitarian efforts to lounging beachside. Supporting the shading fabric is an aluminum structure that will be produced in modules for easy setup, tear down, and, if desired, combining to cover a wider area.

How does it work?

Within the structural system is the control center, the place where all the magic happens. While the fabric is soaking up energy, the charge controller is monitering how much power is allowed to the battery, making sure there are no fluctuations in energy output. The inverter is what converts the energy to the usable AC power, so you can happily charge your beloved iPad.

pretty fancy. People really need it.

Research has found that there are “43.7 million refugees and internally displaced people and 12 million stateless people living in limbo without citizenship rights. People forced from their homes by conflict are among the world’s most vulnerable and they all have individual stories of loss, heartache and survival1. Clearly there is a demand for a new, high tech shading device where organizations can set up refugee camps and help those in need with simple luxuries. For example, the organization Refugees International has 20-25 field missions that provide basic services like food, water, health care, housing, education, and protection to displaced people1. By providing the youShade to similar organizations, they will now be able to provide all the essential aids in addition to electricity, which can even further support health care and communication services. Nearly 75 million Americans will visit beaches every year2. There is a demand for a new, high tech sun shading device that addresses protection and aesthetics. When looking for an umbrella, the consumer prefers one that is tilted for ultimate coverage and with access to a level surface to keep electronics and drinks free from sand. Retailers that offer seating or display products outside will benefit greatly from a device like the youShade since it will offer the consumer another source for protection and a source of energy. In Vancouver, British Columbia, the city encourages small and large businesses to enhance the storefront aesthetic for a more lively and community oriented streetscape3. By using the youShade, businesses can enhance the retail aesthetic that directly will affect the community aesthetic. 1. http://refugeesinternational.org/who-we-are 2. http://greenanswers.com/q/177587/water-oceans-ice/oceans-coastlines/ 3. http://vancouver.ca/engsvcs/streets/retailuse/index.htm

Patent pending. The youShade is currently patent pending, meaning all objects making up the product is the intellecual property of the designers of youArch and the engineering consultants that make it all possible.

11

The Market it.

There are various ways in which we can promote the youShade so businesses can be introduced to the product. Attending trade shows, as both the visitor and the vendor, we can learn about current trends in the hospitality and recreation markets such as color popularity, graphic design, and social media.

idea.

Reaching the disaster relief segment will need to be different than that of the hospitality, so we will issue condensed versions of this document and mail them to the various organizations. Seeing is believing, so we plan to offer pop-up demonstrations where these organizations can have a test run with the product before making a committment.

Distribute it.

By outsourcing a majority of the physical labor, we can keep our minds in the designing and selling game to produce this superior device. Our shipping center, located not too far from HQ so we can always have an eye on production quality, will be contacted of a sell and immediately package off the amount of youShades the customer has ordered.

plan of attack. Now, get it done.

The most critical nonfinancial resources that will be needed in the conception of the venture are: lab space, workshop for prototype design and manufacturing quality labor pool in which to select competent and capable labor local and state support for a sustainable, green labeled product willingness of high quality employees to join in on the firm establish strategic partnerships with beaches, hotels, pools, etc obtaining patenting and licensing communication with key manufacturers – ie. photovoltaic producers

Beyond The target markets.

The target markets are the humanitarian aid, hospitality, and recreational markets.

target.

Large scale organizations involved in the humanitarian market include, but are not limited to, the Red Cross, Refugees International, the UN Refugee Agency, and the American Refugee Committee. Church mission groups and school/college groups are smaller organizations that will be able to use the youShade to better serve the refugees. It is possible for growth into the US and International Governments and Military markets on a more large scale and mass produced product. Beach front resorts and properties will be targeted in the hospitality market, such as Marriot, Hilton, Disney Resorts in the coastal regions. It will be an innovative source of electricity for individuals who like to be able to charge their electronics while far from any conventional outlets. It will be a reliable source of electricity for individuals who like to be able to charge their electronics while away from conventional energy sources. Individual consumers who participate in tailgating, camping, and sporting events will be targeted in the recreational market.

The target industry.

The shading device industry is a very small but growing market producing products that are becoming fashion statements and highly designed. These unique designs are objects that the consumer will see as must have products that not only provide pleasing aesthetic qualities, but also can help provide often over looked amenities, which then allows for high operating margins.

our

control.

Who’s the competition? Not much is on the market right now, save for some generic patio LED umbrellas marked at $2994. There are some pretty nice looking and similar conceptual models around from researching the internet, but those are still in a schematic phases of development as of this printing. Other competition are typical, 9’ x 9’ NCAA tailgating tent costs $275 while a 1500 watt generator clocks in at $200. 4. http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?product Id=202386030&storeId=10051&langId=-1&catalogId=10053&ci_src=14110944&ci_ sku=202386030&cm_mmc=shopping-_-googlebase-_-D28X-_-202386030 compe

But we’re better.

The youShade is a far superior product than anything you might find at your neighborhood building supply store. Highly designed and super functional, it far exceeds anything out in the current market as of yet. Mainly because it’s easy on the eyes, but also because it can accomplish many tasks on the job and while playing.
