Why you should

CHOOSE UWM 1

We’re nationally recognized for our undergraduate research, which means students get to meaningfully contribute to their field from day one.

2

We have some of Wisconsin’s leading programs, like the largest college of nursing and one of the largest schools of education.

3 Our unique schools include Wisconsin’s only architecture school and the state's only school of public health. 4 In 2018, The Hollywood Reporter ranked us amongst the top 25 film schools in the country. 5

We have the largest freshwaterfocused academic research institution on the Great Lakes and even have our own research vessel, the Neeskay.

But it’s not impressive stats that set us apart. It’s our students. They’re determined problem-solvers who refuse to be one thing. They’re researchers and artists, innovators and caregivers, scientists and communicators. Students choose UWM because they don’t want to settle for just reading the textbooks — they want to write them. Sound like you?

Lucio FILM MAJOR, SENIOR ROCKFORD, ILLINOIS

UWM Was My First Choice

“USC accepted me into their film program, but after weighing tuition and being closer to home, UWM was my first choice. The film program here is fun, has a high level of prestige, and tuition is affordable.”

My Scholarship

“To complete my senior film, I needed to travel to Mexico with my grandparents. Without the scholarship, I wouldn’t have been able to do that. It was pivotal.”

Favorite Class

“The introductory course to the film program was probably my favorite. It was all hands-on, cutting and splicing actual celluloid.”

NURSING MAJOR, SOPHOMORE MUKWONAGO, WISCONSIN

Why I Chose UW-Milwaukee

My Advisors

“I meet with my basketball advisor once a week. She makes sure I stay on track with my classes. I also have a nursing advisor, who’s a huge help, too.“

Small Classes
