THEORIEL 14 stunning contemporary homes in Stourbridge
1880 ESTABLISHED
Behind the name of Kendrick Homes lies over a century of craftsmanship, commitment to quality and pride in a job well done. William Kendrick, Black Country man and bricklayer, founded the company in 1880. Soon his reputation for skilled and conscientious work was winning him substantial contracts all over the region. Later, he was joined by his son, who continued to guide the company’s growth after the founder’s death at the ripe old age of ninety-one. Over the years the company has completed many prestigious projects from housing to industrial, hospitals, schools and municipal buildings. Today the fourth and fifth generations of the first William Kendrick continue to guide the company, proud to see the founder’s principles of quality craftsmanship still demonstrated in the work of Kendrick Homes.
The Oriel is situated in the well-regarded residential area of Norton which is located just to the south of the historic town of Stourbridge in the West Midlands.

Industrial heritage, parks & countryside on your doorstep The residential area of Norton is a popular location to the south of the centre of Stourbridge, just a few minutes drive from the Hagley Road where you’ll find a range of small shops, a number of petrol stations and a supermarket. Shopping options It’s just a short walk from The Oriel, up Whittington Road, to The Broadway, where there are a number of local shops including a Co-operative Food store and a Chemists. For more extensive shopping options, a 5-minute drive takes you to the centre of Stourbridge and a selection of shops together with a Waitrose supermarket. Alternatively, there is a large Tesco supermarket at the recently refurbished Crown Centre, and the established Merry Hill Shopping Centre, is only a few miles north of the town. In addition, with Birmingham and Worcester only 40 minutes away, you haven’t got to travel far to explore city centre shopping. Excellent education If you are looking at education options, the local area is well served by a number of Primary Schools. Gig Mill Primary and St Joseph’s Catholic School are both set in their own extensive grounds and less than 10 minutes walk from The Oriel while a little nearer Stourbridge centre there is Greenfield Primary School. For secondary
schools, options include: Old Swinford, Hospital School, Redhill School, Ridgewood High School, Hagley Catholic High School and the specialist. Elmfield Rudolf Steiner School. In addition, Stourbridge is home to King Edward VI College -one of the leading academic sixth form colleges in the country.
as Studley Court estate, this beautiful park was given to the people of Stourbridge by local millionaire Mr Ernest Stevens, in 1929, in memory of his wife Mary. The park has extensive recreational facilities including tennis, golf and bowls along with a large lake.
Industrial yet rural
For more organised sports activities, Stourbridge is well served by a range of sports clubs and facilities: from rugby to football, cricket to tennis, swimming to cycling and many more besides, you’re bound to find a club to suit your sporting interests.
Stourbridge takes its name from the river Stour, which flows through the town, and is beautifully positioned to enjoy many attractions in the Midlands. It has developed naturally over the centuries and is a real mixture of industrial and rural. The town is perhaps most associated with glass production, manufactured here since the 1600s and there are several museums celebrating this local heritage including the Red House Glass Cone. Not far from both high tech and traditional industrial centres, Stourbridge sits alongside the impressive Clent Hills and Kinver Edge and is also within reach of beautiful towns such as Bewdley and Bridgnorth, as well as the Welsh borders further west. Outdoor activities There are ample opportunities for outdoor activities: from cycling to Stourport on the towpath to climbing the Clent Hills. Closer to town, no more than a mile from The Oriel, you’ll find Mary Stevens Park. Originally known
