Alfred East Art Gallery 2nd June – 14th July Colin Smith is a British painter who has for some time been living and working abroad. This show, including a selection from his ‘Wardrobe’ series, one of which is in our permanent collection, is his first solo exhibition in the UK for some years.

Witch Hunt Manor House Museum 27th January – 2nd June
The infamous witch from folklore both frightens and fascinates us yet behind this image lies a story of paranoia and persecution. This exhibition looks at some of the political and social views which led up to several hundred witch trials between 1500 and 1800 and their devastating results.

Lunchtime talk: Witchcraft & Northamptonshire by Kevin Varty Alfred East Art Gallery 13th April, 1-2pm The fate of many people throughout the country was heavily influenced by a trial held in Northampton in 1612. This talk reveals how witches were identified, persecuted and executed to satisfy one man’s personal obsession with the occult.
Event day Saturday 26th May To mark the end of our popular Witch Hunt exhibition the museum will be holding a FREE event day full of interesting activities and entertainment. Aimed at adults, there will also be things to keep the little ones entertained. Please visit the website or the museum for more details nearer the time.
Morning Campers! The British Holiday Camp Manor House Museum 9th June – 8th September Did you know that the first Holiday Camp appeared in 1894 on the Isle of Man? With the arrival of Billy Butlin in the 1930s, holiday camps were beloved by generations and dominated the British holiday scene in the 1950s and 1960s.

Family history sessions are run by local historian and professional genealogist, Andrea Pettingale. Sessions cover a range of useful topics to guide you in discovering your own family history.

Children’s Craft Activities Join us every school holiday for a fun-filled programme of craft activities. For children aged 3 and over and we ask that all participants are accompanied by an adult. Visit the museum or check the website for more details on each session nearer the time.
